The parking lot is small. When you walk in you are greeted and can grab a menu to see what to order. They have a few times inside for sitting. I believe it is a family owned restaurant. We placed our order online. It was getting close to closing time. We were able to pay with a link so we can run in and pick up. So the food now the turkey leg was so tender and juicy. That was good. The ribs had a bite to them. Not really tender. The brisket I like my brisket sliced rather than chopped but they only serve chopped brisket. The sausage was ok. The sides beans potato salad was good but the cream corn was not it. But too we did come in close to closing time. I heard the Mac and cheese is delicious and I wish I can say it is but it was sold out. So I guess it is good. I would go back to give another try. Oh they have corn hole out front to play.

The parking for the restaurant is across the street so be on the lookout for the sign. I walked in and was promptly greeted by the cashier. They have menu as soon as you walk in and at the register. The restaurant was a little sparse at the time but it quickly picked up service while I was there. I opted for the rib tips plate with a side of sausage. I have never been here so I was excited to try the barbecue. My sides were the mac and cheese and green beans. The green beans have bacon in them and they were seasoned well. The mac and cheese was creamy but needed a little more salt. The rib tips were meaty, tender and delicious. I also really liked their sausage link. I could get a plate of that again. The inside is decorated with accents of purple and the have indoor and outdoor seated available. I really enjoyed my lunch. The portions were good and I am still full many hours later.

Some of the best bbq in SA My favorite for sure Love their bbq beans are actually baked bbq beans and not charro Mexican style beans like a lot of bbq places do around here. Meat was tender, sides were delicious. And their customer service was super friendly and top notch. If this place wasn't 45 mins away from my house, they would see me more often haha!

THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE, TRULY AMAZING PEOPLE RUN THIS SHOW! THE BEST PLAYLIST AS WELL ! Customer service: 0/5 for the owner (Demetric) & 5/5 for the rest of the staff The female owners are just so amazing. We tried to go for beef ribs on a Tuesday; When we got there, we were told beef ribs are only on Saturday and Sunday...so, we left and came back! We got there on Saturday @ 11 am when they open on 4/5/25 ( a woman told us to come early to make sure we get them before they sell out) When we got there they told us the beef ribs weren't ready and they were sorry to whoever told us to come early lol; we ended up waiting an hour and a half..... Demetric: The male owner who argues with anyone and everything, please learn to stop. My 4 star review went to a 1 because customer service to my family and I, means the most. Food: 4/5 2 beef rib plates: Was the hour and a half wait worth it? Yes and no. My sister's beef rib was DRY girl- dryyyy. Maybe they let it rest too long or over cooked? I don't know, but ahhhhh. It had potential to be perfect. The seasoning was there, it's just the meat was tough. THEIR BBQ SACES ARE A 10! All three! The Mac and cheese was good, we also really loved the greens beans. Price: 5/5 Being from Los Angeles, I think the prices here are pretty great. 2 need rib plates were $23.00 each. We got 3 for under $80.00. All around: 4/5 Would I come back? Sure. Anytime I visit Texas I try to find new food / bbq. I do have high expectations because I am from LA aka one of the best food places on earth (yes, a very biased statement lol) and here, the beef ribs didn't quite do it for me-BUT I would come back. I also really love the ambiance! The little details (like the purple hoof marks) made it so perfect! **As a reply to the owner** I thought my 4-star review was kind, and very honest. I have no issues with your wife/ all the young men and the service that was provided. If I'm being honest, it is one of the reasons (if not the ONLY reason I would come) Please refer to the picture of the dry rib I added; I didn't call your food bad, or really leave any negative remarks. If the food was dry, I am going to tell people it was DRY. It was the opposite of moist- If it wasn't ready, I would've drove back (as we told your wife we would) therefore, we waited the hour and a half for the food, and it was dry. (Another person said the same thing 4 months ago) I stand by my review, and reviewed your food HONESTLY. I hope Demetric truly learns to not argue and take constructive criticism. Best of luck :)

    BBQ brisket Nachos

I just bought a house in Converse, and discovering Purple Pig has already become one of the best parts of the move. The BBQ nachos completely blew me away. Most places stack nachos lazily, and by the time you reach the bottom it's just plain chips...But here, every single chip was loaded with cheese and meat. That kind of care and attention to detail is rare, and it made the whole meal unforgettable. You can feel the pride in everything they do, from the perfectly layered nachos to the warm, welcoming vibe of the staff. It's clear this is a true family-owned spot where quality and hospitality come first. Prices are spot-on, portions are generous, and you leave feeling like you got more than your money's worth. Purple Pig isn't just another BBQ place. It's a place you can tell people are passionate about, and that passion shows up on every plate. I only wish they had more locations, but I have no doubt that with food and service like this, expansion is in their future. Until then, I'll be making the drive from Converse happily and often. Thank you to the whole team for an amazing experience.

Wow. Great food and service at a reasonable price. Now I know why they fight over the peach cobbler. Highly recommend this family friendly restaurant.

Tried this place for dinner with my family. Nice, cute spot with an indoor and sizable outdoor eating area. Parking was across the street in a lot not necessarily the best size. Counter service was really good - and they have a teacher discount, which is a big plus! My wife got the baked potato with brisket. The potato was massive, but my wife thought it would probably be better with pulled pork. I got the rip tip plate, which is what they advertise on the sign. The rib tips were really good for rib tips, but I will be trying something else next time. All in all, very good.

Just tried on Sunday purple pig!!! It's such a cute restaurant. The cashier was so nice and helpful. I loved loved loved loved it here. My favorite items were the brisket more than the beef tips & most importantly the BeANs!!! I have never liked beans on the side but that was fantastic. My only complaint is when you ask for water they give you a small cup and they serve it to you. Since the food is very seasoned and salty I had to keep getting up, I wished they can just give you a pitcher or something.

Purple pig is owned and operated by people of our community. You're supporting a small business. That's just the tip of the iceberg. The food is delicious! Their sides are amazing, their meat is soft and well flavored and seasoned. This place also is decorated so cute! The people at the register are friendly and helpful. Give them a try! You won't regret it!

The Purple Pig BBQ has fantastic BBQ!!! We tried this place out for dinner tonight and were impressed. As soon as you walk in the door, you are hit with the wonderful aroma of BBQ smoke flavors. The staff were all friendly and helpful. I really like the fact they show some love to military personnel, first responders, and teachers. Half our group was running a little late so we ordered some brisket nachos with mild BBQ sauce. The brisket was delicious and the sauce had great flavor. Once the rest of our group arrived, we ordered lots of different things. I got the chopped brisket plate with Mac-n-cheese and creamed corn with mild BBQ sauce and a side of the hot BBQ sauce. I was surprised at how much delicious meat came with the plate. Both sauces were delicious, I ended up using quite a bit of the hot bbq sauce because it was so good. The Mac-n-cheese and creamed corn were really good with lots of flavor. My wife got the pulled pork plate with coleslaw. The pork was just as good as the brisket and full of flavor. My wife said the coleslaw was delicious. Some other items ordered by our group were the loaded backed potato and the smoked sausage plate. The potato was huge and fully loaded with a generous serving of meat. The smoked sausage was also really good. My wife saw the deserts and ordered a slice of carrot cake and the peach cobbler. Both looked amazing. Carrot cake is one of my favorites so I was excited to try it. It was good but not the best I've had and was probably the worst thing we ordered (if there had to be a worst thing, because it was still good). The peach cobbler with a scoop of ice cream was absolutely delicious! The food is top notch bbq with great service. I recommend checking this place out.

I can't believe it took us this long to try the Purple Pig! No more driving to San Antonio for BBQ, because this was fantastic. My wife got the brisket nachos with mild BBQ sauce and loved it. Their speciality is probably the rib tips, which I got and highly recommend. The portions are very generous. I prefer the spicy BBQ sauce, but careful, it's definitely hot! Detroit folks will appreciate their selection of Faygo in the refrigerator.

When we arrived, however, we were told it would actually be closer to a 30 min wait, which was disappointing. We had a party of 5 and were seated at a small square table that seemed intended for 4 guests. They simply added an extra chair, leaving very little room for everyone to eat comfortably. It felt cramped and made the dining experience frustrating from the start. We ordered the Gringo queso and chips as an appetizer and that was definitely a highlight. The queso had good flavor and was enjoyable. For my meal, I ordered the Rattlesnake Pasta and unfortunately was not impressed. While it had some spice to it, the sauce itself lacked flavor. The garlic bread served alongside it was also disappointing it smelled and tasted like cardboard. Overall, I was not pleased with my experience. Between the inaccurate wait time, cramped seating, and underwhelming entrée, it wasn't a place I'd be eager to return to.

A server came by and asked if we had been waiting long to which I said yes (because we had and he asked, I wouldn't have said anything otherwise) and he just said well we're very busy. Then we ordered everything at once since we had had time to look over the menu. We waited another 10 mins and still did not have our drinks. We saw our server walking by and gestured drinks to him and he said yes and came back with them right away. The food was great. It was happy hour so we got 3 apps and my wife ordered the smash burger off the happy hour menu for her main dish. Our server informed us that during happy hour you have to have the same amount of drinks on the table as you do appetizers so since there were two of us, one of us had to order another drink to be able to get the third happy hour food item. We had the egg rolls and tator kegs for appetizers. I had the rattlesnake pasta as my main. The food was all great. I will probably come back again.

The service was really great.I don't believe we had an empty glass or ever had to ask for a refill on our drinks. Now for the food! When I tell you it is probably one of the best meals I've had in a while.I am not lying. My chicken was cooked to perfection. The flavor of my dish was absolutely delicious and comforting. The vegetables were cooked to perfection, i don't remember the last time I wanted more cooked carrots on my plate! My friends that join me , really had nothing but great things to say about it.
