I found myself needing an urgent repair on a Saturday afternoon for my car because my engine splash shield became completely dislodged and started dragging on the ground -- exposing the innards of my car. Luckily I stumbled across Tarang and his shop. Maks Auto Repair is a minority-owned, family/small business and they're as honest as they come. Tarang made me feel as if I were an extension of his family even though we just met. He is a local that represents Streamwood very well. They don't push products or service on you and will only tell you what needs to be done at a fair price. Tarang and his team didn't just repair my issue, they completely fortified my underbody. I haven't felt this confident about my car's health since I bought it from the dealer. I really wished I took a before and after picture. Please keep in mind that due to the labor shortage and this establishment being a small-business, there may be a short wait. However, rest-assured you will get the highest level of service and could guarantee that your best interests will be in their minds. Critical: Professionalism If you are looking for honesty this is NOT the place! A 75 year old lady has been a customer with them for years. They bought her car off her and pretty much stole it from her. Gave her only $300 because her window didnt work....turned around and tried to sell it to me for $3k until I told them I knew what they did to the lady and they then told me it wasnt for sale and hushed me out the door. Terrible people. Stay away. Only could imagine what else they are telling people is wrong with their cars. Mak's is a good, fair place to take your car for repairs. They have worked with me to make sure I could afford the repairs and suggested what needed to be done first - and surprise, it was not the most expensive fix. My car is 24 years old and definitely needs attention. Raj and T have always explained the processes, the parts, and the labor before I accepted their work. They also worked with me on making sure the repairs could be done within my schedule. They were patient with my questions and very thorough. They worked on my Mom's car and made it saleable. I've taken my car there several times you get it repaired but it seems every time I take it there to get one thing done there's something else wrong with the car . so the last time I took it there I need an air-conditioner blower motor they put a transistor in there instead of putting the motor in there charge me $400 then told me later that I needed blower motor for $1700 this time I was not going to do this because they've done this to me several times in the past and I keep spending money out for things that they recommending I end up spending more money. Over priced and long wait times for your car to be fixed. We figured they were reasonable since they are always packed with cars but dont let that fool you!! They had my car for three days before they looked at it. Cost me 160.00 for diagnostic test and told me the water pump was leaking along with two hoses and wanted 1800.00. Ridiculous price. Went to another mechanic and they fixed water pump two hoses two gaskets and a timing belt for much less! Dont go to Maks they will try to overcharge you! read more

We all need an auto shop we can trust. Well, this one is it. I found it on a day where my battery died. They replaced it on the spot with no problem. I just went back for an oil change and I couldn't believe I paid under $30. No pressure to upgrade to this or that. Just good service, in and out. Friendly and professional. If ever you need your car fixed and you are in Streamwood, DO NOT go to Maks Auto Repair. I needed a wheel bearing. "T" at Maks said it was ok to bring my own parts in and he would only charge me labor. I did just that. Now 6 months later my wheel bearing is making noise again. Oh shock, I need the same bearing replaced. We took the car into another mechanic and he said there is NO WAY this part was ever fixed. It was old and completely rusted in and worn. I took the part back to the Auto Parts Store who looked at the bearing and said there is no way this part is six months old. The Auto Parts Store did give me my money back anyway. He said he's had the same complaint with about 20 people about Maks supposedly replacing parts people bring in and in a few months they are bad again....I'll let you decide if you think he changes them with this many complaints. He does charges labor. Of course I went back to Maks and said that I was told by two reputable people that this part was not changed six months ago nor was it a six month old part. He would do nothing about it. He said he'd look at the surveillance tape and prove to me that it was change. When I said ok, I want to see it. All of the sudden he doesn't have tapes going back six months. Are you as shocked as I am? I didn't think so. So I'm using social media in hopes people won't go to this place, that rips off people who work hard for their money. I replaced my car battery but was unable to get the brackets securely tightened. I called Maks and they saw me right away and fixed the brackets. They also advised the terminals were not secure. I recently moved to the area and my 18 years old daughter's a/c blower kept going out. I took to Raj and he looked not once but, twice over 2 days and DID NOT CHARGE. He stated he couldn't take money for a loose connection. He replaced for free also stating this is his neighborhood too and would not cheat his neighbors. Honesty is rare in the car repair business. I took my car in to get an estimate on having my front brake rotors and pads replaced, after consulting with Midas and Casey's Automotive and my dealership, who were extremely expensive (over $1,000). At first I was extremely delight when Tarang, the mechanic/owner, told me he can get the job done for $850.00. So I went ahead with the repairs. When I went to pick up my car, he gave me two prices: $885 if I was paying w/ credit card and $850.00 if I was paying with cash. I told him that I was quoted only $850.00 and I wasn't advised that was with cash only. He tried to b.s. and said he always advises his customers two prices and that I may not have heard it correctly. I asked him where am I suppose to get $850 in cash at 6 pm, when all the banks have closed. He said I can pay with credit, but I will be charge $885, since he has to pay a processing fee to the credit card company, which increases his costs. I just found that to be complelete b.s. Every business has to pay processing fees to credit card companies, that doen't mean they adjust their prices on their products or services to customers who paid with credit cards or pay with cash. I was completely turn off and will never go to Maks Auto again. He gave me the lower price to get my business, but then found a way to charge me extra.Typical of all mechanics.
