What a great little Indian place in the middle of notting hill. Tucked away close to portobello market near notting hill gate. Awesome food. We even saw Bill Nighy dining there. What a great night. Good was great although portions can be a bit larger. Reasonable prices for the quality and taste.

Malabar. The name is cool. It reminds me my childhood. But I'm not a child anymore (Or so it seems...) and I had booked a table for us. Once we arrived, we were told there wasn't any reservation at this name. Looks like they trusted us. We were lucky because they managed to find an available table. Service was average. We really had to insist to get their attention. But the food was quite good, even if the korma and the murg dansak didn't convince my friend. The Tandoori was perfect though. And I had a particular pleasure to sip the Cobra beer that I hadn't tasted for quite a long time. Prices are surprisingly low for the location and the quality. All in all, it wasn't bad but didn't deserve the buzz I heard about this place.

Eating out of big trays was quite useful actually!

Good food, good service. Really enjoyed the lamb and the cobra beer. The dahl was really runny, but other than that everything was good.

Meh. Kinda bland food and luke warm. Bread was a bit over cooked as well. Not my favorite by any means. Prob won't return.

Always. And not a place you have to order and wait for an hour. A place that anticipated your needs and has everything on the ready. I could then die a happy man. At the very least, I'd be a well-spiced man. Regrets? I'd have naan. This place almost delivers on that promise. Almost. They have vats of ready made food. Entrees like curries. Different rice options. Breads. The chef is a big man with a big, friendly demeanor. I went with a bowl of curried lamb, medium heat, and some naan to soak it up. The dish was decent, not really hot in terms of spiciness, but tender and rightly sized for the price. But really, it was something like a fiver for a meal. Is is the best Indian food in London? Heck no. Is it the best, no frills Indian on this particular stretch of road for the immediate area ? Heck yeah. I just wish there was one of these on every corner in my life. Lotto?

We walked by The Asian Restaurant & Sweet Center and looked in the window. SOLD! Lots of good food was staring back at us. It was simply a matter of picking what we wanted. The slightly brusque gentlemen behind the counter wouldn't give us a recommendation, so we went with our standbys: chickpea curry and lamb curry. The result: WIN! Both were great. The naan we got with it was delicious. A number of locals stopped by and friendly greetings were exchanged between the man behind the counter and the customers. Even though it's a hole in the wall with no decorations, the atmosphere was friendly. We watched the Egyptian revolution unfold on Sky TV as we ate. Upon paying on the way out, the counter man decided we were okay and we got the same treatment as the other regular customers. All is well! If you're in the neighborhood, I can't imagine not stopping her for some fast, delicious fortifications.

They have done an impressive job on the remodel updating it with a bright and clean interior tastefully decorated and well equipped. Two large screen TV's play Bollywood music videos and sporting events. When you enter there is a small kebab shop and takeaway, and you enter through the second set of doors to the dining room. The food is amazing! A dazzling array of choices and some special items. We ordered Karahi Fish, Karahi Methi Gosht, Tarka Daal and a whole tandoori chicken. This was more than enough food for four and we were all very happy to try so many tasty items. First the fish was perfectly prepared and delicately spiced. It had a great texture and wasn't "swimming" in sauce. The lamb curry was ordered spicy and the chef actually came to ask us how spicy we actually wanted it, so we explained EXTRA EXTRA EXTRA hot.. he laughed and asked if we were sure and we said we were. He delivered! It was a spicy inferno without being overpowering. The daal was very nice but the highlight was the Tandoori chicken.. it was the most flavorful one we had tried in a long time and came out perfectly moist and juicy and oozing with flavour, and at 7 quid it was quite a deal as well. We also noted on the menu the chefs special.. a WHOLE LEG OF LAMB! We vowed a night of hedonism and drinking accompanied by a lamb feast. We followed through the following week and we were rewarded for our determination with a stunning piece of culinary magic. The leg of lamb was so tender and flavourful that we decided to make it a monthly ritual.. but be forewarned you have to order it 24 hours in advance.. so think ahead! The Lahore Masala House is a welcome addition to the Kentish Town landscape.. they have great lunch deals and they also stay up late for those leaving the locals or the Forum.
