I had an amazing experience organizing a group dinner for 60 at Bombay Palace. I am an event organizer and have set up many of these meals; Nitesh was an expert at making the experience seamless for us, and was the only restaurant manager who has asked me for a Zoom call ahead of time so we could walk through expectations, the timing of the night, and I could get a virtual walk through of the space. They were extremely considerate of our group's many dietary restrictions. And they have a very easy online booking system for group meals, where a large group dinner menu is selected by default but you can easily replace individual dishes. Not only was the preparation great, the execution was excellent. The whole evening was seamless and I felt like Nitesh or the other staff member were constantly just a wave away. The food was all excellent, and it dinner was served buffet style (while appetizers were served at the table, per our plan), clearly marked for dietary restrictions. We had a semi private space, meaning 90% private, with a TV screen and microphones for a fun presentation we did for our group. Cost came out to about £67 per person total, very reasonable. They had some nice cocktails I tried! Tropical Hurricane (£15.95) - 3.5 stars Mango Chili Caipiroska (£16.95) - 4 stars This was our menu, sadly I dont' remember individual dishes as the night was a blur, except the Baigan Bhurta! The food is the star of the show - best Indian food we have ever had. We had chicken tikka masala and butter chicken, which were fantastic. But the true standouts were the smoked aubergine dish and the chili samosas - SO good. We definitely recommend. read more

This restaurant was walking distance from where we stayed in London, so we came here. Service needs a LOT of improvement. Food was a hit and miss. The wait times however were insane. Restaurant was 90% empty; but we waited 15-20 minutes before someone could come take our orders. Wait time for the food was 30 -40 minutes. We were losing our patience. Ordered the Bhel puri. It was spicy-- and although I enjoy spicy food, not everyone did. For the main course we ordered Roomali roti, aloo parathas, fried rice, and for curries we had Palak paneer and malai kofta. Curries were not good at all. The kofta curry was overloaded with cream; the spinach in the palak paneer was bland. Palak paneer is one of the easiest curries to make so it was surprising how they missed the mark on this one. All other items were great. Fried rice was the best I have had. I wouldn't recommend coming here unless you are staying in the area. read more

We were staying nearby and stopped in here one night for supper. The restaurant and bar areas are nicely decorated and provide a cozy atmosphere. We had the lamb Rogan josh and the tandoori salmon. Both were excellent. The lamb was very well spiced, but it was not overwhelming and the meat was incredibly tender. The salmon was simple and delicious as well. Just kind of ok. Nice service and good seating area with heaters (not strong enough though). Food was a bit overpriced but serviceable. I had the salt lassi which I really liked at least - thick and rich. Portions were generous too! First off. The 15% off your first visit coupon is no longer valid according to an unseen manager. Onion Bahji appetizer was spot on. Excellent tamarind chutney accompanies. Main course is a bit of a mystery. I ordered chicken tikka masala which I did not see on the menu but there were other masala dishes available so I figured they could manage it. Chicken was cooked perfectly but the sauce was brown, thick and gravy like. I've never seen this before being sold as masala. Definitely a different taste than I am used to as well. Everyone does things a bit different so maybe it was me. Naan was wonderful and the rice was perfect. I'd eat here again but order only from the menu. read more

Visiting London, this was the meal I was most looking forward to. Bombay Palace delivered that and more. The food was absolutely amazing. We started with some Papadum and the chutney that came with it changed everything I thought about chutney, truly life changing. We got the Paneer Tikka masala and the Nalli Gosht. Both were perfectly done. Along with the food the service was impeccable. Someone checked on us every 5-10 minutes, everyone was very helpful and polite. 11/10 would go back and recommend to all of my friends when they visit! read more

While in London, it is always appropriate to try some of the best Indian food outside of Asia. Bombay Palace does not disappoint and will leave your taste buds impressed. Your palate is greeted with chutneys and minty yogurts for the roti or pappadam starter, and our samosa order fit the same taste profile, with a perfectly crispy exterior surrounding the sumptuous mix of chickpeas and spices. The staff will be the first to tell you that spicy here means 'truly, we are not even kidding, hot...like burn your tongue, hot,' so there should be no surprise that there is a bit of heat is just about every dish. The Rogan Josh curry was as close to perfect as you'll find this side of Delhi, with a gravy that appears to have retained every but of flavor from the lamb and the spices, while the Vindaloo announces itself like a tiger to your tongue...there is is no slow burn...the heat will grab you right up front. The house made chili oils and pastes are well showcased, and the Naan bread calls to be eaten while still hot, with its crispy exterior and chewy inside (it actually hardens up as it cools, so eat it quickly). The wine list isn't anything amazing, but you're sure to find a bottle in your price range and your taste profile. The seating is quite upscale, with some intimate covered booths at the side of the dining room. You'll be able to hold a conversation while eating, even when the room is full. I am not an expert on Indian food, but this restaurant was very good. The doorman at our hotel recommended it. Please remind me to give him an extra large tip, will you? Anyway, the service was exceptional, starting when we entered the restaurant and were warmly greeted by the host. Later, while browsing the menu I asked our waiter what "masala" was ( well, I did admit I was a novice when it came to Indian food, right?). In addition to explaining what it was our waiter brought a spoonful of the spices from the kitchen for me to smell and taste. Wow! Great service! For dinner my GF and I had lamb, eggplant and Dahl (lentils). All the dishes were excellent. To continue the story, my GF and I ate here again the following night! I was looking up the top Indian restaurants in London and most of the restaurants on this list were michelin star restaurants. I figured if Bombay Palace is being mentioned in the same list as michelin star restaurants it must be good. After checking the website, I saw Bombay Palace does Thali Tuesday for lunch and dinner. I was sold after that and booked a reservation. The service was great. They were friendly and attentive throughout the entire meal. The restaurant is very clean and gives off a nice atmosphere. The food was so good. We started with Onion Bhaji & Punjabi Samosa. Both were great, some of the best samosas I've eaten. However, the real treat was the thali. I ordered the non veg thali. My favorite part about thali is being about to sample each little dish. Each dish was very good both on an individual and as a whole. My favorite was definitely the lentils. If you are craving good Indian, I highly recommend Bombay Palace. read more

Had a Christmas lunch at Bombay Palace today...we were pleasantly surprised by just about everything! - Service is top notch. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. Food came out quickly. - Ambiance is great. Not overly fancy but there at so many windows which lends an open and airy feel. - Loved that there was no overpriced fixed price menu for Christmas. - Food was overall really good: *Naan received rave reviews from the husband and daughter. *Chicken Tariwala also received good reviews from the husband and daughter (I don't eat chicken.) *Chana Masala was very good! *Bhindi Masala was good but very oily. *Kewal Chawal was just boiled rice, nothing special. *Roomali Roti wasn't the best but that could just be my preference for thicker bread. Did a take out from this place. Ordered very basic dal and Jeera rice. The rice was really good. Well made and smelled also delicious. The Dal Tadka however was a bit of a disappointment. The food here is some of THE best Indian I've ever had. More authentic than most! We ordered 4 dishes and all were off the charts with flavor. Perfect amount of spice to add a kick but not uncomfortable. ;) The only reason it got a 4 over 5 for me is because I hate places that charge for every single thing. Puffing away and no response yet (quick aside, the actual menu doesn't bear a huge relationship to the web site - no main under £14.50). Still puffing .... Well that's enough vaping for now - I'll leave it on the table and see if any eyebrows are raised. If not then, apart from the slightly higher cost, I find it impossible to fault this place. Service was abismal waited almost half an hour to be served and when we first entered the restaurant we were asked if we had a reservation in a derogatory term in an otherwise empty restaurant. Our plates were dirty too they took 15 minutes too fix that. The food is not authentic hell the mango lassi is store bought. The food tastes like it was prepared by a bloody American who thinks that India is a damn state (not good). It's not great is ok but not great I would definitely recommend Noorjahan's 2 as an alternative as it's close by and much better. We later ordered delivery one time since it was the only Indian place open at the time. We had asked to pay with a card and were told the driver would have a card machine he didn't. We had to call and give our info just to get our food! As stated earlier I recommend Noorjahan's 2 over Bombay palace, or if you dislike Noorjahan's eat some where else the mediocre food is not worth the garbage service and other flaws. read more

We had a great work celebratory dinner here, after I passed my viva. The chole was really delicious (lots of flavour and spice, not too oily), as was the chilli paneer. The saag paneer seemed a bit less exciting to me. They have a good selection of wines, and even once the place got busy as the evening went on, there was always someone to keep our water and wine glasses full. This is a posh place to eat curry, but it has some nice dishes that you don't normally find in your usual curry houses. It has branches in the US, Canada, Malaysia and India. My favourite dishes are Balouchi Raan, Goan Fish Curry and Tangri Kebab. They have two different types of papadum - plain and spiced - served with the usual mint yoghurt, mango chutney, and extremely tangy pickled lime. Their lassi is nice and thick, served with some nuts and green cardamom (so be careful!). Balouchi Raan - this is a large lamb shank, that has been marinated with spices and slow cooked until the meat is falling off the bone. It is very meaty, with a rich flavour. This is a dry curry that resembles the Malaysian rendang. My friends and I love this dish. Goan Fish Curry - a tangy fish curry, cooked with pieces of meaty white fish (the menu says Kingfish), and a spicy red curry, which isn't too thick, and is more like the south indian watery curries (equally spicy, but without the coconut milk). Tangri Kebab - 4 chicken drumsticks, coated in a green paste made from herbs and yoghurt, cooked in the tandoor and served on a sizzling hotplate with onions. Very tasty. Their Tarka Dal (yellow lentils) is a nice and thick stew, with strips of ginger that enhance the flavour. Some of their dishes can be surprisingly spicy (Pindi Chana - punjabi chickpeas), so it's best to check with the waiter if you're not sure. A nice place to enjoy Indian food in a more upmarket setting than the normal baltis/curry houses, with some unique and tasty dishes. read more

Most of their dishes are indeed prepared up to a very high standard and the service is excellent. The choice on the menu is fairly broad, although I've seen more selection at some simpler local Indian places that I've been too. Large comfortable restaurant, fitting in with the upmarket area it resides. Mixture of standards and more unusual dishes. Staff faultless. Food was of a very good standard. Priced as would expect for the area and type of restaurant. I wouldn't regard it as expensive. The BBQ/grill dishes come in Medium and Small. Medium is a large portion. I had Changezi Champen which was 4 good sized lamb chops. I had the chicken livers for starters which can be difficult to get right. But they were really good. The only two issues were wait time for the food was too high for me, even given the quality of the food. That is the wait time for the starters. The wait time between starter and main was fine. Also the beer was expensive. I had been drinking nice Fullers at The Victoria down the road so didn't bother. read more

We come to London about once a year to relax and see some shows. Every trip we eat at Bombay Palace at least once. The atmosphere is very good, the food is great, and the service is very attentive. We usually arrive around 6PM to avoid the rush and have no trouble finding a table. There are many Indian restaurants in London, but once we found Bombay we just keep returning. read more

Came here on Sunday for lunch, and was not disappointed. I had visited once before when an event was held here, and the food was mixed on that occasion so I didn't know what to expect. The restaurant is light and airy with a bank of floor to ceiling windows on one side. The waiting area is very dark in comparison. We had booked for six and were seated at a large table right next to the window in the middle of the large room. It made for a very pleasant start. We ordered some masala tea which took its time coming but was good and hot. The first waiter we had was not very attentive and seemed distracted. For example, he told us that 2 plates of samosas would be fine but in fact each plate consisted of two samosas so we were embarrassingly short. The other starters were very small indeed and we ended up having to order a second round of everything. Not helpful. Fortunately another, more clued up server took over, and matters improved considerably. As to main courses, we had bindi, paneer cholia, raita ( a ridiculously tiny portion), tandoori naan, prawn curry and aloo gobi. Everything was good but nothing really stood out for me. I enjoyed the meal which was authentically Punjabi and I will come back. I do think the service initially let the experience down, hence 3 stars. read more
