We spent an enjoyable, if chilly morning (10-2-25) touring the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome Museum in…read moreRed Hook, NY and had decided before leaving our rental house to lunch at Misto Eats (7466 S Broadway) in Red Hook.  Come this December Misto Eats will have been open for two years.  We selected this establishment due to the creativity of their menu and we were delighted with our experience.  My one sentence review "Creative luncheon choices with a Brazilian flare, featuring many vegetarian and gluten-free options, in a bright, spotless, and warm venue, at sensible prices with cheerful staff." Misto Eats--Cafe, Market, and Catering is located on S. Broadway, one of the two main streets (the other being Market) which cross to make up the center of Red Hook, NY.  There is plenty of parking behind the restaurant if you don't want to park on the street. You review the posted menu (also available online) and the board listing the day's specials, order, pay, grab a table on either side of the restaurant, and wait for your food to arrive. If you are looking for creative eats, Misto Eats is the place to find them. They also carry lots of pre-made meals (including soups and stews) and various meat and salad preparations along with some grocery items, freshly baked cookies and breads.  The venue itself is airy, bright and warm.  A beautiful place to sit, relax, talk and enjoy some freshly prepared food. Our food came out after a brief wait as everything is made to order.   My wife ordered from the day's specials--Grilled vegetables sandwich on home-made Naan featuring zucchini, cauliflower, oyster mushrooms, goat cheese, and Baba Ghanoush-Hummus.  The sandwich comes with the daily side which today was a delicious home-made potato salad with red onions, chopped fresh Italian parsley, very lightly dressed.  I ordered from the regular menu--"The Little Pickles Sandwich"--and there was nothing "little" or diminutive about it.  The sandwich  included crispy cod fritters on house-made Pão Frances with pickled serrano chili, pickled red onions, baby arugula, and MISTO aioli.  An amazing combination of flavors and while I've eaten many a cod fritter, cake or ball over the years (think pastéis de bacalhau in a Brazilian or Portuguese restaurant), these were among the tastiest I have ever enjoyed.  That they make their own Pão Frances (which were available for purchase in the bakery case as well) helped elevate the palate experience of this dish.  My sandwich also came with a scoop of that lovely potato salad. We really enjoyed our sandwiches, beverages, and the relaxing atmosphere at Misto Eats.  If there weren't so many other wonderful places to explore in the Hudson Valley for lunch and dinner, I would go back to Misto Eats tomorrow to try something else from their creative menu. They are open 11:30 am - 6 pm most days, closed on Mondays.  We will definitely be back in a few weeks for further exploration of the menu

The apple cider donut stand was absolutely amazing. Theyre making them fresh right there! We got a couple fresh apples as well and they were phenomenal. Service was nice and they're busy! We had fun plucking zennias ($.50 each) and wanted to see the sunflowers but did not get a chance to since we saw lightning. Within ten minutes of seeing lightning, a heavy thunderstorm began, which we waited out in the cidery, which is in a large barn. There were three bathrooms and a shared sink. There were also lots of snacks, ciders and spirits available for purchase. You could even buy crackers / cheeses / meats to make your own charcuterie board! It looked like there was a private event while we were there as well as another private event in the evening. I only tried the Kitchen Sink cider which I honestly didn't like at all, but at least the packaging was nice! I also have to give a shout out to the people working at the stand near the parking lot for giving me a free sunflower stem since I didn't get a chance to pick one!
