Growing up in New York City, I have had some excellent pastrami in my life. I just had the pastrami from The Meat Wagon Mobile Butchery for the first time, and I can tell you it is the best pastrami I've ever had. it was cooked and seasoned perfectly, with a generous amount of fat and no nerve or grizzle at all. It was tender and delicious. It was so delicious that I ate it all before I remembered to take a picture! The best part was that all the cold cuts are made in-house, so no preservatives or additives or artificial ingredients. The staff seemed really nice too. I definitely recommend this joint! read more

I stopped by yesterday. I've been following Meat Wagon on instagram and was dying to try the rotisserie chicken and the meats. On my way out the door, after my purchase, I noticed a cease fire now sign. If I saw this on my way in, I would have left. "Cease fire now" is anti-Semitic. As a Jewish person, I would be happy to stop by and educate you on why it is anti-Semitic. Until it's down, I won't be back. Plus the chicken was undercooked For $26. read more

You can have them slice it as thin or as thick as you like. I usually go with 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick slices. This is probably the best bacon I have ever eaten in my life. The first preparation: done by Cafe Tamayo, was 1/2 inch rectangular chunks sauteed in a pan until the outside has a nice golden, crispy crunch to it. They would then let it cool and using it as a topping for their Beat, Orange, and Goat Cheese salad (also had some nice home made red cabbage on it). The second preparation: I brought 2 lbs of this thick cut bacon on an annual camping trip, thinking it would make the most Bad Ass Bacon Egg & Cheese sandwich EVER... Success... Got up early, built and nice fire and waited till the wood burned down to a nice bed of coals before laying these slabs on the steel grate. As the excess fat rendered off and dripped onto the hot coals, random flair ups caused flames to kiss, char, and smoke these little bites of heaven to a mouth watering goodness. Served on a hard roll, with over easy eggs and manchengo cheese. (Next years version will include scallion with the eggs, and maybe a different cheese selection, O yeah and 1 lbs of bacon PP, 1/2 an lbs pp for a 3 day weekend was not enough) I can't speak on the rest of the items that this full service butcher offers. The display case looked like it was packed with all the necessary cuts to satisfy anyone. I'm sure I will get around to trying other things, but at the moment its all about the bacon.

Both were smooth and flavorful with a slight lingering bitterness. Low ABV makes them both quite quaffable, as they describe one of their other beers. We're from NJ where breweries are only allowed to serve the beer they brew on site and nothing else, so seeing food, wine, and cocktails on the menu was a novelty for us. We didn't try anything besides the beer, but there were some impressive offerings including a penicillin cocktail, and Knackwurst, oysters, and a variety of pizza.
