I have a large yard area with a variety of raised planters, stonework, deck, many potted plants, fruit trees, succulents, decorative rocks, etc. This spring I became overwhelmed with ants. They were everywhere: in pots, under pots, climbing succulents, massing along the edges of beds, when we removed plants, traveling in a thick line between areas when I watered. I've been in this house for 46 years, and it was the worst I've ever seen. I called Malang, spoke to Jeff, and made an appointment. I have been a customer of Malang Pest Control for over a year. They are thorough, courteous, on time and back up all their work.

A month ago I got a text from Malang. I responded by asking how much is your service. I profoundly regret asking such a question. My advice is to not ever contact this company inquiring about their service exposing your phone number to them. This is because the owner Jeff Simmons will relentlessly text and call you perpetually without ever stopping once he has your info. After ignoring his calls/texts for a month I got a text saying that my appointment is scheduled on this Friday, absolutely unprovoked. I responded by saying no, not one, but two times. I had a really cute girl at my house on Friday afternoon that I just met on Tinder, we were just about to getting it on and guess what? The door bell rang! When I opened the door it was Malang Pest Control! I was furious and told his worker that he is not welcome here. But to his credit he said he is just a worker and that he has no idea what has transpired between his boss and me and that I was on the schedule today. Since he was a kind man, apologetic and said he'd do the job for free, I reluctantly allowed him to spray in my backyard since he was already there. But I did tell him to relate to his boss to never bother me again and that I will contact him if I feel the need to patronize his service. Well his boss contacted me again this weekend, both text and email. Jeff's aggressiveness is something I've never seen in my life, and such actions should be condemned. I love Jeff. I requested service via the website. Jeff called me back and was able to come out that afternoon. My family and I moved into our dream home which has turned into a nightmare in that we had a plethora of ants everywhere. They even found their way upstairs where there is no food. Jeff sprayed inside and out. He explained what he was doing every step of the way;. Now I expected someone similar to "Dog the Bounty Hunter" seeing how you've, in my book, gotta be hardass to deal with icky things. Nope - Jeff is as sweet and clean cut as they come. He knows his bugs and knows his stuff. He even called a few hours after he left to see how we were doing. I am huge in customer service and Jeff is on par with Nordstrom. It's my opinion that Malang is a poorly run business. Jeff makes an effort to be a nice guy, but that evaporates when you push back about the bad service. In my experience, if you disagree with him, it's your fault. Recently, we gave Malang a second chance after stopping service. We did this because we thought Jeff had taken care of the administrative problems he was having for well over a year. That much appears to be true. However, in the last month we have seen way more roaches than we have seen since service began over four years ago! And nothing on our end has changed: We're not messy people, clean regularly, and have all the same neighbors. So, today I called and talked to Jeff about the 14th(!) roach we've seen in ONE MONTH! The conversation was fine to start, but then he asked for a SECOND time if we could change our first Yelp review. I told him I'd be happy to, but I wanted to see our recent upsurge in pests get dealt with first. Here's where things went sour. Jeff proceeded to say I was playing a game with him, withholding the editing of the previous negative review. That didn't sit well with me at all. I have NO problem changing the previous review... IF THE SERVICE HAD BEEN FIXED! BUT IT WAS NOT! I told him it was ridiculous for him to ask for that before his company had proven the service was improved. It was at that time that he said "the relationship isn't working out" and he hung up. What?! If you're running a business, maybe you shouldn't have continual scheduling/billing problems, declining service, defensiveness when these things are criticized, demand that your customers change their reviews, and then accuse them of playing games. I'd start there before refusing service and hanging up on your customer of four years. Be wary of the "nice guy" persona. read more

I left several messages to tell him about rat problems that I was having in my backyard. I cancelled his service, then he called me back. What a customer service... Really, Jeff? Must you continue? For anyone considering using Malang: Jeff harassed me by calling me NINE times in 3 days, also leaving 2 voicemails. In his last response online, he flat out lied. I never admitted I lose my patience (paraphrasing his comment)- I told him I admittedly was stern with him because I was displeased with his continual failures to communicate, and in that instance, charge us for a service he didn't provide. He says the gps proves his truck was there. Great, but where's the proof he sprayed for ants? Tons and tons of ants that never went away? If he claims to have sprayed, I absolutely don't believe him. I also DID contact him the week his employee first showed up unannounced, and calmly explained to that guy why we were frustrated. I left a voicemail directly with his employee (the one who left a heated voicemail for me) saying he needs to schedule if I will be home before he shows up, and I was apologetic for his wasted time. (Also, how is it my fault that Jeff didn't think to ask for my email? Even with my husband's email, the most we ever heard in advance was "we will be in your area on ___ day."- We NEVER got advance notice on the hour or windows of hours he'd be coming. Even if Jeff emailed me, the same problem would have occurred.) I never paid? We never missed a bill. NOT ONCE. The only time we refused to pay, even after horrible customer service, was when he DIDN'T SPRAY for ants. We asked him not to contact us ever again, and he called twice more and emailed my husband. One of the two voicemails trying to first bribe us -free treatment if we remove our Yelp review- was after we asked him to stop contacting us- and secondly trying to guilt us (in short he questioned how we can sleep at night because of how we maliciously tried to ruin his business). If his business is thriving, would Jeff really need to get on here and argue my review? I left a fair review and his business was terrible. My husband and I have wasted enough time on this already, and now we need to look carefully at this again to decide if we need to take the next step. For reference, this is the only bad review I have made online ever. Jeff can call us names all day, and try to convince innocent members of the community to hire him. His need to harass us and counter my original review speaks louder than anything. For reference, our neighbor who apologized for recommending Jeff to us, said he quit after the first time Jeff/his team showed up unannounced. I wish we had followed our gut like our neighbor and been more firm from the beginning. I am extremely uncomfortable even knowing that he knows where we live. I have to say, the owner of this Malang Termite and Pest, Jeff Simmons is awful. I had signed up for the (5) services plan (which most people Do Not Need, or at least I found I did not in the long run - scam). So, I had signed up, but after the first treatment, I ended up in the hospital fighting for my life for an unrelated illness. I spoke to my tech that had come out and explained I was in the hospital and would need to postpone. He was such a sweetheart and told me to just get better and let them know when I could resume. I had to have IV treatments at home, so that delayed me a couple more months, so I left word via email. Then I was cleared to resume the ant control treatments and sent emails, left messages via the website and even called. All along, I was getting emails indicating they would be out "this date" to do the next service/treatment. These emails went on for well over TWO years, with No One EVER SHOWING UP! So, I would continue to leave emails via website, thinking the great tech that came out maybe had left the company. After two years of them NEVER showing up, I finally called and someone picked up...the owner, Jeff. I said that I had ants and desparately needed someone to come out...his very non-Chalant answer was they had just been in my area and no one would be coming out again for two months...he also noted, after looking up my account that they hadn't been out to me for a long time. Yes, I said, "although I got notices regularly, that a tech would be out on this date".. well, he said, "we won't be out your way for two months, so do you want to wait or go with someone else"....I needed someone to spray right away, so I said I'd have to call another service (FINN came right out and was very reasonable)...Based on his response of not willing to help me, I figured we were done...2 years of them not coming out seems like a mutual null and void of the contract to me. Notices that "they were coming out on this date" kept coming, so I sent an email and asked to be removed...the owner asked me why my account hadn't been serviced in a couple years and I told him the story again (this was on email)...again, I thought it was a mutual parting of the original contract since they never showed up...then again I get two more notices (remember I'm using another service now) and I ask to be removed. Jeff basically tells me no, I am liable for the signed contract and I can either continue with it or pay the $150 termination fee. So, I send him all my documentation and emails where I was asking (almost begging) for someone to come out and reminded him of our few conversations about the account and how he wasn't willing to come out when I Desparately needed someone....all the emails, phone calls, website "contact us" notes left. Jeff was very cold and basically said he'd send me my contract (which he never did) and the bill for termination of the contract. I sent numerous emails asking him to reconsider and do the right thing...he was very cold and said NO! He had the tech call me too, whom I love and think he's the best part of Jeff's Business. I told the tech, as great as he is, the owner is someone I didn't trust any longer, was very rude, unreasonable and just seemed to want my money and has no integrity. I even told the owner that I am a sick woman and that he was stressing me out, he completely ignored me and the many emails i sent him, proving I'd tried to get him to come out for two years running. Again, Jeff simply replied, it's a contact and you owe me $150. My thoughts are this, had I not reached out to remind them that I was still getting the emails stating someone was coming out and just ignored them, he would not have even noticed (going into year three by now)...also, I tried despartely to reach out to this company to get service and when I spoke Live to the owner (Jeff) said "nope, we aren't gonna come out...are you going with someone else? And can you tell me why we haven't been out in over two years?" again, I was honest and told him about the delay due to me having sepsis and almost dieing. He didn't care, and I very wrongly thought with them not coming out it was a mutual void of the signed contract (they didn't fulfill their side of it either)...then numerous emails showing how I tried to get service, with Jeff just saying I owed him the money for terminating the contract. He didn't even want to discuss a possible solution...so I guess my little $150 dollars really made the companies month and saved them from shutting their doors. I'm sorry, but where was his side and responsibility of fulfilling his part of the contract?? I guess the consumer is the one with no rights or Avenue to Justice for him not fulfilling his part of the contract to do "Said ant treatments/services". Jeff never even called to find a solution. So, in the end, he lost a customer, got the $150 which I don't think he deserved and now has this bad review. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! BAD! read more

We had a huge problem with the tiny ants in our house, despite our HOA assuring us that they spray for them. I had been using an over the counter product, but was tired of them coming back. We found Malang and they took care of the problem. We have them come quarterly. We had brief recurrence once which they came out and took care of quite quickly. I particularly like that they have not had to spray inside at all, so we are not exposed to anything toxic. The service has been professional and friendly, too. read more

Jeff has always been punctual and professional with us. We signed up upon moving in to our new home, which was riddled with ants. Within a couple of days, our ant problem subsided and we haven't had a problem since. They come in every other month and spray the outside (and inside whenever needed). The best aspect of the service is that you can call anytime between sprays and have them take care of a problem for free. For peace of mind, we think it's worth it. We had initially tried to take care of the problem ourselves and ended up spending $200 on ant and bug sprays from Home Depot. I wish we had known about BP sooner! read more

We're first-time home buyers and we went with Bug Pro initially because that's who the former owners of our new house had used for a few years. They were pleased with the results - and, so far, so are we. Courteous and responsive over the phone, and timely and efficient on their visits. Only because I have to put a star. I have to say the service was fine and for the most part no pests were ever present. Service was good as well until I received a bill for $125 this past month. I spoke with Jeff and explained that many years ago I signed a quarterly contract where the service was $74/quarter for as long as we continued the contract, or in perpetuity. In July, they were servicing the house, and my wife was told our contract was up and rates were increasing. In speaking with Jeff, I said I could be wrong, but if the old contract did indeed expire and in order to continue the service we were obligated to pay the increase, it would be fine, but he would have to produce the original contract which Jeff said he did not have. I get these types of companies come and go and things happen, but trying to run an increase past a very longstanding customer this way doesn't sit well. read more

When they were called Bug Professional (which was a new name at that time, the owner said) they were diligent and thorough. That diligence faded. They recently became Malang , for obscure reasons) Frequent name changes of a company do not inspire confidence. Even less confidence is inspired by a collapse of quality of service.The last 2 services were cursory and incomplete. Calls and email to remedy did nothing. I called to cancel the regular service because of this, and was informed that I had to pay for the service date whien service was not performed at even 50% of the correct rate. i just got another bill from them demanding interest on that bill. read more

I have been using Bug Professional Pest Control since I moved into our house in late 2009 so a tad over 3 years. I've been very impressed by the company, especially their customer service. Whenever we have called them and requested an additional servicing, normally in the height of the bug season in the summer, they have always quickly come over and sprayed at no extra charge. I've had the opportunity to chat with their owner, Jeff, on a number of occasions and always found him to be knowledgeable and helpful. He cares about his customers and wants to help as much as he can. My wife and I have not had a single ant in our house since we hired them and our neighborhood has a major ant infestation issue and we both believe it is due to Bug Professional and their service.
