We initially had this company come out for an inspection, which we paid for. We decided to move forward with them because the technician was honest, knowledgeable, and didn't try to upsell us on services we didn't need. We really appreciated that and felt confident choosing them. After the inspection, we scheduled an exterior treatment since it would still help with our bug issue. Before scheduling, we specifically asked multiple times whether we needed to be home, and we were assured that we did not. We provided clear instructions on how to access the back half of our house. Unfortunately, they never showed up--not once, but twice. We had to reach out three separate times, and despite that, no one came or communicated with us. We even kept our dogs locked up all day waiting because we expected the treatment to be done. We're disappointed because the technician made such a great first impression, but the lack of follow-through and communication has been frustrating. Reliability is just as important as good customer service, and unfortunately, that was missing from our experience. read more

Recently, though, I had rats in my attic, and Preferred charged me $595 to set traps, which took all of 10 minutes. We needed no follow up service. $595 for 10 minutes work is outrageous. read more

The last tech told me I didn't pay enough to have my crawl space treated although I ordered that service when I made the appointment. He arrived without the proper equipment and never attempted to fix the problem. My bugs have not been controlled and I've already had them out twice this year. I have been a consistent client of Preferred Pest Control for at least 8 years now. During that time period , with only a few exceptions, I have had positive experiences with them. Despite the fact that my neighbors on both sides of my house have fruit trees, and a very large vegetable garden, we have been able to keep the rats out of the house and off my patio and porch. When I did have a brief problem with the company, the owner of the business called me directly and we were able to settle the matter quickly and successfully. Ron and his staff were very professional, polite and extremely knowledgable. I purchased the package to have pest service every three months. The first time, the tech was very thorough and sprayed all over the house. The next three times, each tech took maybe five minutes (I am not joking) to spray my house. I did not feel that these last three sessions were worth $109 each time. I even asked the tech to please spray everywhere, but was ignored. After the 3rd session, I knew I did not want the services of Preferred Pest any longer and spoke to Maribel to cancel the services after my year was over. She said I had to call back and cancel after my fourth appointment. I advised I would keep to the contract and pay for the 4th service, but can she cancel services after that. She said no. I had to call back and cancel after. I went online and purchased the same non-toxic chemicals they use along with the sprayer and will be doing the extermination myself. Cost will be so much less and I will be more thorough than Preferred Pest will be. Service is lacking from this company. I would not recommend them any longer. UPDATE: Owner says service call was 18 min. To park, get equipment together, wait for door to be answered, etc.... For an 1,800 sq. ft. home...18 minutes?! You be the judge. Today was the second time using Preferred Pest Control to control the bugs in my house. Last year, I had tons of ants and tried ant traps but that didn't work. I also saw spiders and other insects. Then, decided to bite the bullet and use a professional service to really control these issues. I called many locations and went with this company because of the reviews and pricing. $149/one time treatment. They came on-time, were friendly, treated the outside and inside of my homes. You get a 30 day warranty. After they left, I never saw ants again! It was such a relief. Within 30 days, I saw 1-2 spiders which I informed them. They came back, and retreated the areas I saw the spiders and haven't had an issue since then. One year later, I do see ants and other bugs again. They say, you can get on a recurring monthly/quarterly plan but I really don't think I need it so I opted for the one time service. They give you a window of when they'll be here and call you in advance to let you know that they're close. Once they are there, you're supposed to stay out of the house for 2 hrs to avoid breathing in the chemicals they use. I got home from a 10-day trip to find droppings (literally only 5 of them ) on my counter that appeared to be the size of a mouse. Naturally, I freaked out because I'm a clean person (so how could this happen), I'm pregnant and don't want to get some weird rodent virus, and I live in a townhome with a shared attic/crawl space. I called about 7 different companies local to Orange County and Preferred Pest Control was the only company who was able to schedule someone to get to my home in 24-hours. My technician, Ivan, was kind, professional, thorough and very happy to educate me on the different kinds of rodents, bugs, and lizard droppings. Fortunately he didn't find any evidence of a rodent, and no additional droppings behind the stove, fridge, couch, under the sinks etc. While it appears to have been an isolated incident with a single American Roach (still gross)- I feel confident his inspection resolved my concerns and know what to look for (and where to look) and how to confirm within a few days that his inspection findings were accurate. Great company, will definitely use again if I ever have any pest issues in the future, and will be referring to anyone I know who may need professional services. We've unfortunately had quite a few problems with this pest control company which is surprising given their reviews. We've used them for over a year which is way longer than we should have stayed, but I kept hoping things would improve. We experienced poor communication and they tried to charge full price even when the tech showed up 3 hours before he was supposed to and couldn't get in the backyard to spray since we weren't home and the gate was locked. The biggest thing to know is they don't spray your fence lines or around structures in your yard, only around your house. We were told to "get a gardener" if we want that done. We've called a new pest company who does spray the fence line and around sheds, etc and we look forward to experiencing better customer service with them. Edited to add in response to the owners comment: it is the correct company. We were just told yesterday to "get a gardener" by the office staff to spray fence lines and around our sheds because she said they won't do it (they also never dewebbed for us, I always had to do it after they left). And a few months ago someone did indeed show up 3 hours early and we had to fight to get the charge reversed. It sounds like many people have a better experience than us. read more

We called for bee problem - they were super responsive till the technician came in for initial estimate about bee hive - radio silence after that, they charged $50 for initial investigation and they would send estimate treatment plan in email - more than 24 hours no estimate or plan shared. With $50 - all the technician said I need to check with my boss what would be the treatment like - no phone call or email after that. $50 charged - to hear my boss will send an email with details. It is very sad that after charging customer and promising same day estimate report - no email or update from your company. I would not recommend this company - for any future work. read more
