However, I'm finally writing my first Yelp review in order to help steer consumers away from this company. Don't you find it mildly suspicious that Bug Professional only has 5-star reviews, followed by one (now two) one-star reviews? Anyways... back to the reason I'm here today. A few days ago, Bug Professional (formerly named Barrier Pest Control) stopped by my house in a corporate truck, stayed for three minutes, and dropped off a bill. I have used bug professional for about 6 months now, since March 2011. Every time they have serviced my home, they have been courteous, professional, and have addressed any problems I have had. i called in between my scheduled treatment about a month ago. Jeff, the owner came to my home the next day. He went above and beyond mu expectations.....he treated the perimeter of my home, inside my garage, and treated inside my home as well. I do not write many non-food related reviews so you know I mean business when I do. We have been customers for nearly two years - since we first moved into our brand new home in a brand new community. We liked the owner who came knocking door to door to show us a list of our neighbors' names who have signed up to use their pest control service (unbeknownst to us, there were ant problems in our newly constructed community) - not sure about privacy issues re name dropping, but whatever, that is a different discussion. Long story short, we liked him, and he personally serviced our home and was quite courteous. Then, his business grew and employees came to service our home and overall service level went down. Please allow me to share something that really bothered me and is a primary reason why I cancelled my regular service with their company (and my neighbors are also planning to do the same if have not already done so). For the last two scheduled services I had, I was very dissatisfied. I came home from work and found an invoice / service summary left at the door. I am used to that and appreciated seeing the "bug people" come to "do their thing". However, two days after the supposed service took place, my husband found ants all over the outside of our side yard (this is the wall outside of our kitchen sink). He was very upset and asked me to call and have the "bug people" come back. I called a few times, each time picked up by the answering machine. I was tired of waiting for them to pick up the phone, and gave up. Then, the next time they came for our scheduled service a few months later, I happened to be home that day. I was organizing a few things upstairs, and saw someone walking around the front of the house. I didn't think anything of it. Then, minutes later, a knock came at the door. I opened the door and someone other than the owner handed me an invoice / service summary and left. He did not say anything to me, did not greet me, did not tell me what he did or ask me any questions, literally, just handed me a piece of paper, turned around and left. Puzzled, I took the paper, closed the door behind me and went inside. When I finally read the paper carefully, it read, "gate locked, could not service". I was thinking to myself, ARE YOU KIDDING ME? You personally handed me a piece of paper, and you couldn't ask me to unlock the gate for you? More importantly, Our gate does not have a lock that cannot be opened! It is simply a hook that you unhook to open the gate! Anyone taller than 5 feet tall can reach the hook! I told my neighbors the story and they also shared similar dissatisfaction. They felt bad since they were the ones who introduced "The Bug Professional" now called "Malang" to us in the first place. I have worked for small businesses. It is great to have a good client base, but it is terrible that service levels decline when the business grows and clients begin to leave. It's too bad. read more

I recently moved to a new area and was taken over by ants. After calling a few different places and couldn't get anyone out til the following week I was recommended to Malang and cross my fingers. They came out same day and made a thorough search of my bed, said they were 99% sure I did not have bedbugs, talked with me about what else was likely to have bitten me and what to do about it, did not try to sell me anything I didn't need, set some sticky traps under bed and sofa to double check what critters if any might be lurking, and didn't charge me a penny. As a follow-up to the comment posted by Bug Professional Pest Control: I would like to refute the following: Seth Kaufman let ants and spiders build up the entire summer until he couldn't stand it and finally called in October. I did not let bugs and spiders build up all summer. I sprayed the home myself and also had another professional do a one time service prior to the summer. The customer wouldn't permit spraying to be done on the inside on the first visit, so the outside was treated. I did want the inside to be sprayed, however the Bug Professional could not meet me after 5pm after I got off work The customer called back, the next day and requested the inside to be sprayed. A special trip was made to treat the inside within 24 hours of Seth's call. After the treatment, I mentioned to Seth Kaufman to give the treatment 7-10 days to see results. This was not a special trip as it was promised in the service that was agreed upon. The bug professional did not stat give it 7-10 days, he stated 2-3 days and I called after the weekend and had him come back the Monday or Tuesday after. Seth called a day later and d told me there were ants everywhere in his home. I promptly drove to his home a 3rd time and there weren't any ants to be seen. He was mad at me because I didn't spray his ceilings, and he pulled out a ladder and asked me move it all over his home to spray the ceilings. I told him that's not the way it is done, and even though there wasn't any ants, I went ahead and applied some ant bait over the cabinets. As an exterminator, he should know that the ants would move where there wasn't poison or bate. I explained to him how each time he sprayed they kept moving up to higher ground. I asked him to treat above the cabinets since that is where they now were. I provided him a ladder which he thanked me for and used gladly. A couple days later, Seth called and was going crazy saying there were spiders. He started cursing me on the phone because I wasn't able to come out the next day. At this point, I simply told Seth that I could see it wasn't possible to keep him satisfied. I can celled his service without a cancellation fee and wished him success for his pest control needs. I was not going crazy. I called on a Monday he said he would come out. I did not hear from him all week. He called the following Monday saying he would be out by the end of the day. It is a flat out lie that I was cursing. I was very stern in what I was saying only after he kept cutting me off. I was asking questions as I am not knowledgeable about exterminator services. He raised his voice and got very indignant and then canceled my services. After I posted this initial review he emailed me begging me to take down the post and asked what he could to make me happy. At which time I told him never to contact me again and to please leave me alone as he was the one who canceled my service. read more

I hate to write bad reviews, and I generally don't because I know a business is a person's livelihood. However, when I try to resolve an issue with the owner in good faith and he starts arguing with me, what choice do I have? Long story short, I had a bug and rodent issue, so I called a pest control company (not Malang) and it is currently being addressed. After the fact, I realized that the previous owner of the property had been paying Malang for almost a year in quarterly payments, for bug and rodent treatment. Needless to say I had a lot of small gnats, bugs, and mosquitoes around my property. Recently there was a rodent problem. So the "control" that Malang had been doing was not working. To be fair, I don't know if their treatments prevented even more bugs. The owner was also pretty quick to return my call. From what the owner said, when there is an issue they will resolve it. Don't know if that is true or not, but I can give them the benefit of the doubt on that. This review is based on the owner's attitude towards customers, not so much their pest treatment. As the service had obviously not been effective and since I had to pay for another service, I asked if they could cancel the $150 cancellation fee for the remaining quarterly treatment. The owner said no, gave a lecture about honoring contracts, and started arguing with me. I am fully open to the fact that he is right and that a contract is a contract. However, regardless of the message, there are professional ways to deal with customers and unprofessional ways. I don't think an owner should make you feel bad and lecture you for asking a question. Again, this review is strictly based on the rudeness and unprofessional attitude of the owner. read more

On my most recent visit to my aunt, we found more and more flies in the apartment over a few days. It was disgusting. Sometimes I sit outside the balcony to read and have a glass of wine, or have the door open when I cook. I guess some flies managed to get into the apartment and laid eggs in the closet. I was freaking out and decided to call Malang for their pest control services. Let me tell you, these guys are BUG PROFESSIONALS. They saved us from having to deal with the flies. I had some type of animal in my walls that would crawl and scratch the walls. It was very annoying and sometimes got very loud especially when my family and I would sleep. I gave the company a call because of a recommendation of a family member. I told them the issue and they were able to get a pest control service person out to help me out. I wasn't sure on how things were going to work since the animal was in the wall but he was actually able to get him out. He pulled out a cage from one of the rooms and i was amazed that the possums were insides my walls. Finally i have been restored to relaxing and quiet nights without scratchy walls. Update: Jeff, if my satisfaction was important to you, you would have made it right BEFORE you hired a group to clean up your trash yelp rating... You knocked on my door as I was leaving and I trusted your integrity when you said "yes, I can clean it now for $60, just sign here" I signed, paid you cash, and left. I come back and you badger me about not reading what I signed (sorry I trusted your integrity), then you come back and say "what? You didn't read the contract and don't intend to uphold your end of the contract that you signed for a 12 month commitment?" I called to talk to you about it and you never picked up the phone OR called me back, but instead, you just sent me a bill for the remaining 12 months. What an awful business practice...?? THEN you sent the last $50 of the bill to collections, just to show that you not only lacked integrity, but you also lacked a moral compass. Now you have your fleet of yelp review scrubbers calling me and bribing me to remove my review?? Are you serious? People need to be warned about people like you. You never cared about anything but the dollars, which is why you conducted business in this manner for so long and have so many awful Yelp reviews. Go kick rocks and stop calling me. I will not take my review down. Take me to small claims court for your $50. I look forward to seeing you there. Original review: Bugs came back within 2-3 weeks; guy said organic pest control didn't exist (probably because it wasn't on the truck that day) and locked us into a 12-month contract. We ended up cancelling after their first visit failed (didn't want to waste our time with subsequent failures, even though they would be covered under their warranty - I'd rather things just WORK so I don't need to reschedule visits). Trusted the salesman's integrity over the contract and they held us to the fine print. In 2019, the only different between one vendor or another is service, and theirs is awful. Also, when I called and asked for a call back to discuss cancellation, they responded with a cancellation bill by postal mail and never called.
