The location has a variety of motor sports necessities and vehicles. Areas of kudos: 1. The Parts personnel are nice and helpful. I was able to find my items fast and a a good price. 2. The front counter personnel was friendly, prompt and has a service with a smile. Area of recommendations for improvements: 1. Customer service (internal and external): I witnessed multiple times in 15 minutes of the service personnel speaking ill of Parts personnel (input of information on an account, credit to a certain personnel for the purchase). Also when wanting to pay, the whole going to the counter to pick out parts and then to the front for payment then back to the counter to receive your parts is so inconvenient. The Services personnel are condensing and short with customers. When asking a questions it feels like you are being reprimanded. 2. Price tags: cost of items was a guessing game. read more

If I could give 2.5 starts I would. I'm only saying this because I was upset with their customer service and the way they make you feel. I cannot comment on their products or vehicles since I didn't not purchase any. But here is my reason why. My experience at Malcolm Smith Motorsports was frustrating and off-putting. From the moment my husband and I arrived, we didn't feel like a priority. While we were walking around the store, we weren't greeted at all. We started in the clothing section, then moved to the parts department, but after telling them we weren't looking for parts, no one seemed interested in assisting us further. When we finally found the bike we were interested in, my husband stepped away to use the restroom, and during that time, I was completely ignored. I was already in front of the bike, mentally prepared to make a purchase, but no one approached me. This felt strange, especially since we had already done our homework, including getting a solid offer from a dealership in Bakersfield. We hoped that Malcolm Smith would try to work with us to match the price. When my husband returned, the first salesperson finally approached us. However, it was clear we weren't their priority; it felt like they were more interested in catering to my husband (even though I was the one purchasing). We laid out exactly what we wanted: we were looking to get the bike out the door for $7,800, which was the price Bakersfield had offered. We weren't trying to haggle or waste anyone's time. The salesman seemed fine, but it was the manager who really turned us off. He came across with a "we're not going to work with these people" attitude, trying to scare us by questioning whether Bakersfield's offer was even legitimate. He even claimed to have checked their stock, implying they didn't have the bike we wanted. Instead of offering any potential flexibility or alternatives, it felt like he was trying to intimidate us into walking away. At that point, we decided we wouldn't be coming back to Malcolm Smith. While they did manage to scare us a little, it only reinforced the idea that we'd rather spend our money at a place that values us as customers. We called the Bakersfield dealership, got the offer in writing, and set off to make the purchase. On the way, I also reached out to Mountain Motorsports in Ontario. Adam there was helpful and offered me a competitive deal, even acknowledging that Bakersfield had a great offer. Ultimately, though, we had already made up our minds, but I really appreciated the honesty and no-pressure attitude from Adam. In the end, we went with Fred Cummings Motorsports in Bakersfield, and I'm so glad we did. Oyuki was amazing to work with--no hassle, no pressure, just a straightforward deal. I got the bike at the price they promised, and though I added some extra gear, I felt completely satisfied with the entire experience. I cannot recommend Malcolm Smith Motorsports. If you're looking for a place that respects your time, gives you honest offers, and doesn't try to pressure you, I suggest checking out other dealerships like Fred Cummings or Mountain Motorsports. read more

Other spots gave me the bare minimum--rushed convos, short answers, no real effort. Mel was the opposite. I came in as a returning customer, but unfortunately, I won't be returning again. I found a bike I liked, and the salesman asked me what price I wanted to pay. I gave him my number, he took it to the manager, and came back with a credit application for me to sign. Naturally, I assumed that meant they were willing to work with my price. They ran my credit, I got approved--but only then did they tell me the manager couldn't do the price I asked for. The counteroffer was so far off from what we discussed that I walked away. If I had known they weren't serious about honoring the negotiation, I never would have agreed to run my credit in the first place. This was especially disappointing because I've bought two bikes and gear from them in the past, and I trusted the dealership based on that history. My advice to anyone going in: don't let your guard down, and make sure you get a clear agreement on the price before they run your credit. read more

Took my 2022 Honda Africa Twin in for its big 16000 mile service. Took a bit longer than expected, but this was due to parts availability and totally good. I got that call I had been dreading.. "unfortunately you bike needs more work, oil leak, coolant leak, fork seal leak". YIKES! Normally I get pessimistic when a service writer upsells a repair, but these guys were good enough to show me photos of the leaking areas. All of these items are your basic must fix now issues. So, I gave the go ahead for the repair, and they got her taken care of. So why a five star review? Simple, these guys were professional and made me feel like they cared about me and my bike. When I first asked for cost of service, they provided a detailed list of the service and line item break down of the service cost. To top it all off, the shop is clean. I bought a bike from Malcom Smith a couple of years ago and needed service. I wanted to have them replace a battery. They tell me they still can't start the bike, even with the battery. They wanted $225 to find the solution and couldn't afford that. I wanted them to tow the bike back, since they couldn't fix it and they wanted me to pay for the battery before they could do that. Went into Malcom Smith to purchase a Jet Ski. Spoke with a salesman, found a ski. Discussed and agreed on a price, they were not to flexible, however, a price was agreed. A preliminary credit check done, no problem. An agreement was made to take my jet ski in for a trade in price, the next morning, no problem. The trade in was the only thing needed to complete the purchase. I get a call that evening stating that someone had purchased two jet ski's and that the one I was going to purchase was one of them. I asked the young salesman how they can sell the one we had agreed upon. He just said that a person bought 2 skis and mine was no longer available. Of course selling two skis is more money, for the company, and commission for the salesman, never mind integrity and honesty....... Typical business, good talkers but money talks BS walks!!!! read more

Your sales Manager Matt was rude disrespectful and claimed to be the higher level of leadership when I asked to talk to his manager. In addition, your finance manager was similarly disrespectful and rude to me. I have purchased multiple things at your establishment and was treated as if my business was not appreciated and felt unappreciated from your leadership team. I was given the extended warranty for my battery on the Jet Ski as a "military discount " and your sales manager and finance manager claimed that was not the case, so I purchased a battery out of my own pocket. It was about 1-2 days later your finance manager called me and said he "made a mistake" and I do have the warranty. I called your store multiple times to talk the owner and was told multiple reasons I cannot talk to you from your "busy riding, you are not available, and you have no time!" Overall your stores lack of appreciation and professionalism is disappointing to me and makes me not want to purchase anything from your establishment and encourages me to share my experience with other patrons and warn them of your team's management and appreciation or should I say lack of appreciation to the customer. I'd take stars away if I could, but can't. Steer clear of Malcolm Motorsports. On May 25th I contacted them to apply for a loan for a Vespa, since they were having their Memorial Day special $600 down and pretty darn good interest rates. They have yet to get back to me. This after sending three applications (or trying), twice via my phone, once on ipad, then finally got the loan application sent through email on my computer. Issues on their end. A week or so later, I contacted Andrei and asked what was taking so long, dead silence. Prior to sending the application he was attentive. This is downright discrimination. However, of what type? Is it my age? Do I not fit into the Vespa driving age in their eyes? Is it my dis-ability? My invisible dis-abilities that have me on SSDI? Shouldn't be since I listed my permanent jewelry welding (among other things) that bring more than enough income. Besides, how could I lease a Prius and 2019 RAV 4 from Toyota back to back with zero down and payments under $400, if I didn't have good credit? My credit is darn near 800, so it can't be that. Is it my gender? Is it because I am a woman of color? Anyone in the market for a Vespa, I would avoid this shallow discriminatory company like the plague. Because of my dis-abilities, I hardly drive, so I thought I'd get a Vespa to scoot around town. They have refused to make that happen, let alone, tell me why. And to think they actually had the exact GTS Vespa 300 in the color red that I wanted. A darn shame, but not for me. I will be contacting the attorney general, and quite possibly an attorney for their blatant discrimination. Patience may be a virtue, however, they no longer deserve my business. Well, I own a 650 Suzuki Bergman scooter max which I'm proud to say it does 130 miles an hour which is quite impressive but the problem I'm having with it I bought it with no miles on it. It's at 77,000 miles now my impeller to the water pump disintegrated on the way coming back from LA Ted garage number 13 replaced the impeller. They said they flushed it and got all the debris out well they did a horrible job. The bike kept overheating. Took it to Malcolm Smith Motorsports they found a lot more debris in the ports. They took the top and off the engine. They charged me $800. I leave Malcolm Smith Motorsports headed home out to Yucaipa on the way there I overheated again but only now it's worse than it was before I took the bike. The guys in the service always make it look like it's my fault or it just happened for some reason out of the blue Well come Tuesday I'm calling him and talking to Sean and explaining my bike's overheating to where my red light turns on, that means it's overheating. You don't wanna ride it anymore past that point you shut it down, so I sit on the side of the freeway until my bike cools down to where I finally can get home. had just put 10k on a bike I bought there..unfortunately I totaled it...went back bought another one the same one was sitting for a whole year and been having nothing but problems with this bike... also when I 1st got it they are supposed to have good techs their not letting a bike leave with more slack then called for to specifications I am not kidding it was like at least 2in of slack or more...1st was oil pan leak they did it under warranty now my chain snapped and fucked up my casing...mind you I had same bike put 10k miles on it I'm certified mechanic all work was done by me on previous one and my chain never snapped....this place is ridicules along with all of their employees...never will I buy a bike here again... read more

LONG VERSION: I bought a CRF300l from Malcom Smith about 3 weeks ago. When I first talked to the sales guy, Liam (would make a great politician -- presentable, well-spoken, will give you a big smile as he stabs you in the back), I directly asked what sort of extra fees MS added to the price of the bike. He assured me there would only be the standard freight / doc fees, no extra dealer fees and that MS would price any fees at "cost." He made a big point about this & said they could do it this way as they were a smaller dealership. I thought Malcom Smith seemed like an ethical business so I put down a $500 deposit and waited about 40 days for the bike to get there. I got a call that it arrived so I drove out 1.5 hours to get there. After all this, at the very end of the sale when it came time to sign paperwork, Liam sprung the extra fees on me. The most blatant exorbitant fee was the prep / assembly fee - $1300 - for a few hours work, max, by lower-wage techs. The other fees seemed inflated as well, but I can't be sure. The MSRP for this was $5,250 and the final price was over $8,000... I was given the option: pay the exorbitant fees or go somewhere else and start all over, after waiting 40 days & driving out 1.5hrs. These were some shady sales tactics to line the pockets of the dealership &/or boost the sales commission. I feel like I was lied to and taken advantage of, and instead of being happy with my purchase, I left the dealership feeling angry & swindled. If Liam had just been upfront / honest about everything at the start, I wouldn't be upset about this, and could have used the info to make a choice of where to buy from. But a $1300 assembly fee is definitely not at "cost" as he told me it would be & I would imagine the other fees were inflated as well. The general manager sent a follow up email a couple days later. I replied to him, sharing this experience, and haven't heard anything back since then, a couple weeks ago. Do yourself a favor, save your money, and avoid this place - try to find an ethical business to buy from instead. read more

I drove 3 hrs to see what the deal was cause nobody was getting back to me,,Well we found out today that there is no end in sight. MALCOLM has NO CLUE when the part will arrive, NO GUARANTEE that it will fix the problem and no deals to extend my warranty even if it takes 6 months I'm still liable to make monthly payments on a bike I can't ride possibly all summer that was supposed to be RTR and is currently sitting back at there shop and well....shit it'll be winter by then. So with the summer already here and no bike to ride for over a month already (cause who knows when they will get the part in) Service department told me I should buy the part on EBay and do it myself????!!! I called right back and at first he denied it was him that just hung up on me but he had already told me his name. When I reminded him that I was the guy with the Yamaha he just hung up on, he said, "oh that might have been me." It was literally a second ago. Took my Ducati in to get the rear brake bled and my wheel was scratched. The scratches were right below the caliper port were they hook up the equipment. I know that no shop will ever admit to damaging your bike and they will come up with all the reasons why it wasn't them but i am the owner and i know my motorcycle from top to bottom especially with how expensive Ducatis are. I had washed the bike a few days before taking it in and there were no scratches. I have also only had service done once before on my rear tire and that was to replace it and Malcom Smith did the maintenance. I have attached pictures and will update review if it ever gets fixed which i know it wont since they wont ever take fault and accountability. read more
