Very friendly people upon arrival. Usually the wait is not that long for eyebrow threading, but if it is they tell you to have a seat on the side. The eyebrow threading is clean and efficient. They ask you how you want it and when they're done they pass you the mirror to see if it is ok. If not, you let them know and they tweek it to your liking. For underbrow, they tell you to pull your skin tight with both your hands so they can get a better touch up. In the end, they would ask if you want lotion for the dryness from the friction or some refreshing rose water. This is the closest threading salon near me and I would come once a month. read more

I've been coming to Maldi Beauty Salon for 17 years and they have always provided wonderful service. My mom and I usually get our eyebrows and upper lip threaded, we don't have thick eyebrows which makes it somewhat hard to shape but Maldi beauty always does an incredible job of making our eyebrow look thicker than they are. All the employees are so nice and great at what they do. Right now with covid they've made the necessary changes to make their customers feel comfortable including getting vaccinated and using a threading necklace to avoid having to put the thread on their mouths. I waited 4-5 visits before rating Maldi Beauty Parlour. 1st Visit--- The first time I visited Maldi, it was GREAT. The owner (?) walked me to a room where my Brazillian was to be done. She kept drilling the fact that they use expensive wax and NO double dipping! (EVER) She then points to a handwritten sign that says *WE DO NOT DOUBLE DIP* Great, I thought. It was cheap, quick, and she did a good enough job. 2nd Visit--- I got some other lady (they never introduce themselves, I really don't know what her name was) and this time the wax experience hurt like hell. I was left with a sore (you know what) and lots of ingrown hairs 3rd Visit-- I really don't know why I came back, the ingrown hairs turned into some sort of bumpy mess, but I was desperate. This time the experience was even worst, the lady DID double dip and I was just too nervous staring at her to say anything (my fault, really) near the end, I said "oh you guys don't double dip right?" then I see her hastily reach and grab fresh sticks. I think I used about 4 sticks for the ENTIRE wax. 4th Visit-- I'm sure by now you guys are wondering why the hell I even came back, this time the lady did it right but when I told her about my scarring incident (from the overgrowns) she immediately said "no no, it's not from here, no" Yes, it was from here..maybe not by you. Overall-I think it comes down to who you get, once you find a good person, please..get her name so you don't end up with an experience like mine. Side note-I get really peeved when they ask me "oh, did you shave??" EACH AND EVERYTIME I get here. NO, I haven't been shaving, and if it looks like it due to all the ingrowns, it's probably a sh*tty job done by one of your employees. I come here every so often to get an eyebrow + brazillian wax. The ladies here are very professional and do an amazing job. I refuse to elsewhere. What stands out about this salon is that they don't do the conventional honey brazillian waxes that most other places do. They use chocolate wax which is known to hurt much much less. My experience with the Chocolate wax was by far the best waxing experience I've had to date. The post-wax results were great too. I do not know of any other salons in the area that use chocolate wax. Another plus side? it smells darn good too! The room immediately begins smelling like chocolate. Very soothing. Maldi's Beauty Parlour is a great neighborhood waxing and threading place in the Flushing area where the ever-shrinking Desi enclave is present between Franklin and Elder Avenues in Main Street. The owner herself, Maldi, is an affable woman, along with the rest of the workers. What I found reassuring was that there weren't any language barriers-- they alternated between Hindi and English seamlessly. I asked for an underarm waxing, and I was led to a small, but cozy room with pink paint and Disney princess wallpaper... very feminine, but also comforting. The process was very quick, and the woman who was doing the waxing was competent and soothing, knowing that I was jittery and anxious. Best of all, the waxing was only $8, unlike other salons that go for exorbitant prices. Maldi's offers cheap prices for excellent service. My mom and sister have had their eyebrows threaded for only $6. A Brazilian wax is only $30. What more could you ask for? read more

Maldi used to be where I go every month to get my legs waxed and my eyebrows threaded. I liked it here because of Dasson, she always does an excellent job waxing or threading. Recently when I went back I was told she moved which made me so sad! Anyhow I decided to go back to Maldi still because I've been going there for so long. But my last two experiences with different technicians left me less than satisfied. Both times it was to get my lower legs waxed. I remember one girl would use the same wax strip for my entire leg... and she would spread the wax over the entire front part of my legs and then proceed to use the strip instead of working on smaller areas at a time. Hair would start to grow back within the week. The women at Maldi are sweet but services haven't been up to par since Dasson left. read more

I come here once a month or so, but for eyebrow threading only. I've gotten underarm wax before but I noticed that they double dipped into the wax which really concerns me. I was never able to get her name but im assuming shes the owner; dark curly hair thats clipped half way and she wears glasses. She always does a clean job with my sparse brows and shapes it in a way where I can actually admire them! Although shes AMAZING, the other threaders pinch and over do the threading and I can feel the burns around the area the day after. Eyebrow threading is 5 dollars. I had a woman named Julie help me today. I never had professional waxing or threading done so I went in a little wide-eyed. I told her I wanted my underarms waxed and she led me to a little room in the back. Not very clean or special looking, but I guess it served it's purpose. She had me lie down but I realized afterwards that she never replaced the paper sheet on the bed before OR after I used it...So who knows how many people laid on that same sheet of paper... At first, the wax was reallllyyy hot and she noticed that I was cringing and asked if it was too hot..So she blew on the wax a little bit more so it wasn't scalding hot anymore.She did use the same piece of wax paper over and over again. I guess few stray hairs didn't come out because she started threading my armpits which was nice since she was making sure all the hair was gone. When it was finished, i noticed I was bleeding a little bit though.. I felt a little courageous so I asked for my eyebrows and upper lip threaded as well. The outcomes were great except for a little blood on my lip....I was a bit unhappy about that but I wasn't going to cry and demand why there was a spot of blood. My brows had stray hair EVERYWHERE and she just handed me a tissue to wipe them off. It took me like 5 minutes to get all the hair off my face... Overall, I'm happy that I'm hair-free and it was only $17 + 2 tip for all 3 services. But I felt like she was a bit rough with my skin and just wanted to get it over with...so I think I'm going to try a different place from now on who will be more sensitive and gentle with my skin... read more
