Are they still called Malibu Cleaners or the $2.25 Cleaners? It is hard to know, but regardless of their name, they are a darn good cleaners. Conveniently located next to Checker/O'Reilly Auto Parts in the shopping center at 40th and Thunderbird. They are right across the street from Fry's Food and Drugs, and next to Einstein's Bagels (sort of -- Jamba Juice is in between). They do a good job, offer excellent service, and are fast (especially if you need same day service -- in by 11 a.m.) The only negative is the length of the line when you are dropping off/picking up early a.m. or late p.m. Other than that, the price is fair and the service good. Tip: they won't do big items like comforters or press pleats. For that, try Pat's Cleaners at Tatum and Greenway (next to Albertsons). read more

Just moved to the areas and was looking for a new dry cleaners. Decided to try Malibu Cleaners because of their great rates. We were skeptical because all other dry cleaning shops were higher. We only took in a few items to test their quality of work. As the old adage, "You get what you pay for." - Lack in quality - Had to have a few items redone because stains were not removed. - You need to point out stains to them when bringing items in because they don't look for it. Most dry cleaners search for stains. Of the four times we were there due to re-cleaning, all the workers were young (early 20's or younger). Unfortunately, in this day and age, it's difficult to find quality employees. They didn't seem to exude in friendliness or enthusiasm for your business. Trust me, as with most people we like a good deal but we aren't willing to sacrifice quality. We'd rather pay a little more for excellent quality and customers service than to save a few bucks. First and LAST visit. With just one person ahead of me, my visit to pick up our order took FIFTEEN MINUTES. The employee was painfully slow and scattered. To add insult to injury, once they finally located my items, they said I owed more $$ because they miscounted, and THEN I had to ask more than once to see a receipt as proof. Seriously? I don't think it's unreasonable to ask to see it in writing. They just wanted me to take their word for it. Meanwhile, the line is backing up out the door. On top of all this ridiculousness, I'm pouring sweat because the place has no air conditioning and it's freaking August with 104 temps! The owners should be absolutely ashamed of themselves expecting workers to slave away in a hot and humid shop like this! The fans only blow the hot air around and make both the employees and the customers cranky and hot! So on reflection, while I didn't exactly get the best service, I'm not sure I could do my best in these working conditions either! Arizona may be an at will state, and employers can certainly do what they want, but I won't give any more business to these jerks. Hopefully their employees find better jobs with people who actually care about them. read more

I usually don't write reviews but this place is getting worse. Hours are always changing so don't trust the hours on the website or on yelp. They are always changing hours. Have summer hours, winter hours, and who knows what hours. You always have to be looking out for these little signs they put up. When you drop off clothes no one lets you know they have new hours. Very frustrating when you go to pickup and they are closed at 5:30 pm in the middle of the week and you get there at 5:35pm. Staff points to the little sign that you have to get a foot away from to read all the new hours which change from Monday to the rest of the week and you cant get your clothes. The staff let me know the hours that way by pointing at the sign and not letting me in. They say same day service but now they don't do that on Wednesday's anymore. No sign posted for that. So if you need same day service don't go on a Wednesday. I give them one star but would give none if I could. The owner should really make things easier and more consistent. read more

I've only ever received fantastic service from Malibu Cleaners. First and foremost, I love their hours of operation. Forgive me, but I tend to get very frustrated when other dry cleaners are open 8:00am to 5:00pm and expect me to come drop off/pick up on my lunch hour. The 7:00am to 7:00pm hours offer me plenty of time to conveniently drop off my items before work and pick up after work on the same day at no extra charge! The staff are always very welcoming, and you certainly can't beat this price. (One desperate evening on my drive home from work, I took my clothes elsewhere and paid $7 per item!) read more

They lost a Hugo Boss dress shirt over 7 years ago and they cut me a check to replace it. I didn't have to wait long and they didn't try to offer me less than replacement value. I've been meaning to do this review for some time now. We take clothes we don't want to ruin by washing at home to this cleaners. As long as it's his work jacket, pants, or shirts, they seem to do a decent job. Granted, he prefers to press them himself, since they can't seem to get the creases as perfect as he wants them.... Which in my opinion, shouldn't be an issue for a professional cleaners. My clothes however? They ruined one of my favorite dresses. I didn't notice it right away because it was with a bunch of other stuff and it wasn't the right season for the dress, but they completely messed up the padding in the bust area. They don't even have an onsite seamstress that could fix it for me, and instead suggested another place.... Which I would have to pay for! Why should I have to pay to get something fixed that NEVER should have been messed up in the first place??? I have some friends who can rip the seams, flatten the padding, and sew it back up so no one would even know the "pros" messed it up. Also, they should have "if items dropped off before 9:00 am" written below the part about "same day service available." I waited in line several minutes before just walking back out with my items because I was told they wouldn't be ready by the time I needed them. Overall, I am thoroughly unimpressed with this "professional" cleaners. I'm just glad I never had anything lost by them like some of the other reviewers here. read more

The girl was not friendly and said "you had to be here before 9." Again it does not state that on the window and I was there by 9:15am. I take all of my day to day clothing here, nicer items I take elsewhere because these folks don't accept all items like leather trim or special buttons. This week I picked up my belongings and there was a little bag attached to the order that had a bracelet of mine that had been in my pocket. I was absolutely shocked! Took in Khaki's/Chinos for cleaning and asked for creases. One batch got creased, the other did not. Also they stapled the paper ID info to the tags inside the pants. Don't usually keep a staple remover in my closet. Should have wrapped it around a belt loop and stapled, then it could have been torn off without damaging the garment. read more

I tried to give this review no stars but it wouldn't let me so i will put in 1 but it should not get any! We purchased a new blazer and replaced the buttons. We brought it to Malibu to clean it so it would be ready for a wedding. When I picked up the blazer the buttons were scratched and worn down to white spots in areas. We were told to come back when the manager was in. I purchased the same buttons and went back to the store. All I wanted was to be reimbursed for the new buttons. When the owner, Kim Weller, heard there may be a problem immediately came out with an attitude. I explained the situation and she started yelling that the buttons were not dry cleanable. I then proceeded to flip over the card with the new buttons and show her that is says in bold print dry cleanable. She started YELLING that the manufacturer lied. She accused me of yelling at her. She grabbed the receipt took the $5.60 out of the register and slammed the money hard on the counter! She said she didn't need my business and to get the HELL out of her store! I came in quietly and she had a major breakdown in front of many customers! I was not causing a scene. Why would I for $5.60? I just wanted her to see what happened and pay for new buttons. I know that things happen and figured it would be an easy fix. Her signage lies where it says that they strive for a excellent experience. It wasn't her fault I know, but it is her company and she should be held responsible. She was wrong to make a Hugh scene. We have been here in the past with our clothes especially my police uniforms. My Sergent noticed that my shirts had faded dramatically especially since they were new and I had them cleaned before wearing. Even with this I didn't say anything as I know problems happen. Now I am fed up! I am never going back there AND I am telling everyone I know. Especially if you have law enforcement uniforms to stay away from Malibu cleaner's ($2.55 stores). They do poor work and their process is too strong. They will damage your clothes. read more

Picking up my charcoal grey striped business suit the other day I discovered the pants and jacket had what appeared to be fading, splotching in a "bleach like" look to the fabric! After speaking with both workers at the counter they told me that both the jacket and pant are cleaned in the same solution but pressed in different machines. I wrote the owner a letter asking to contact them directly to discuss the damages and all I got back was a response indicating "It's not our fault" and an attachment of a bulletin from the "International Fabricare Institute" stating the issue with my suit is due to "exposure to sunlight or artificial light". After taking the suit to two different drycleaners, and the shop that sold me the suit, they consistently stated it was the cleaning solution that damaged the fabric. Malibu Cleaners did not offer any other solution---to share the responsibility in ANY way, shape or form. Any other cleaner would have at least offered something other than "It's not our fault"... read more

They (or their machinery) ruined two pair of dress pants. It looks shredded on the lower leg of the pants. Beware! It could happen to you. The manager tried to blame it on the "very worn garment" - they were only worn once! Would not accept responsibility at all. Will never darken their door again...can't afford to keep ruining clothes! read more
