Dave installed our kitchen backsplash for us. He did excellent work for a very reasonable price. He is super meticulous and knowledgeable (with 30+ years of experience!). We appreciated his attention to detail. For instance, he was working on a section of tile, and I noticed that he took it apart and did it again because he wasn't happy with how it was looking. Took me quite a while to find someone to re-tile our kitchen after we had it torn up do to some water damage. Beautiful tile work, perfect new thresholds where the tile abuts out natural wood floors. Moved our large large appliances and took great care to protect them and the adjoining floors. Dave was fantastic, our new porcelain floor is beautiful. This review is long overdue. David is a true professional and expert of his craft. Last year, we needed our kitchen tile to be replaced since it was starting to loosen. After contacting David, he came next day to look at the tile and diagnosed the problem. I was impressed by his knowledge and you can tell he has many decades of experience. After receiving many quotes from other installers, David offered a very reasonable rate for his level of quality work. Although David did all the work himself, he worked tirelessly everyday he was at the house. He went beyond what other people would have done such as installed a new door sill, covered up a non functioning vent in the floor, touch up paint, and made sure to connect all the appliances (fridge, oven, washer, dryer) and toilet without charging extra, something other companies would have done. David always showed up on time, I felt completely safe with him at the home alone and he made sure to lock up when he was done. In addition David only uses the highest quality materials. If I could give Dave Malin 10 stars I would. He is an expert tile guy and I recommend that you use Dave for any tile job that you have. He was willing to come out and see the job to let me know how I should proceed. He gave me a fair bid and did an amazing job. He first did my tile floor and when that came out so great, I called him back to do my backsplash. He shows up on time and does a great job. I will never use anyone else again for tile work. Dave did my bath and shower tiling about 15 years ago. It's all white and it's still beautiful! So I called him when it was time to redo a stall shower, again with white subway but flooring with white hex. What a beautiful job he did...Including creating a wonderful niche for shampoos etc. Dave is a kind person who enjoys his work and works hard to make sure I am happy! My husband and I love the shower. He was able to open it up just a few inches because of limitations but just those few inches made a big difference. All the suggestions he makes, listen to!! Dave Malin is an artist. A bit of a messy artist -- but definitely worth the mess. Dave recently completely re-did the tile in my master bath. He put in a whole new shower and did the back-splash around my sink and tub -- and it turned out gorgeous. The most amazing thing is that everything is aligned properly in my completely mis-aligned house! Dave is very easy to work with as well. I can be difficult and very particular about what I want, but he worked with me and didn't even give me a hard time when I had him rip some tile out that I didn't like once it was up. We worked out the designs together and I was grateful for his suggestions. In fact, that's the main reason I selected Dave over the half-a-dozen other guys I met with, because he had some great ideas about what to do, along with a book of pictures of work he's done in the past. He does great work! When we bought our house, we had a master shower that was causing problems in every possible way a shower can. Dave transformed it into a shower that makes my husband and I feel like we're at a fancy hotel or spa. We love it. Dave is the best! Beautiful tile work, kept our very modern fireplace with perfectly clean lines! He put a lot of thought into the best implementation of the tile ( we had 2 different kinds) and the best layout around the opening of the fireplace. This is a guy who owns his business and does the work himself, at least on our small job. He bid lower than anyone else to tile the floor of our small bathroom - we know he does big jobs too, so we appreciated that he didn't just pass on ours and move on to bigger things. It took a while before his and our schedules coincided, but when they did he arrived when he said he would and took as long as he said it would take. A small job doesn't mean Dave skimps on the work - you can see how he cares about doing it right, and he suggested ways to do things that worked very well in the odd shape of our floor. We wish we could have afforded to have him do the whole bathroom. Dave is one of those rare finds - a guy who does his own work, doesn't farm it out to employees or subcontractors as he pursues volume work, leaving customers to reap the consequences of ill-trained or careless workers.
