This place is a great find. We stopped by on our first evening in town and the bakery was packed with people enjoying coffee and pastries. They had a big selection and we took a slice of almond cake to go. It was fresh and tasty but not too sweet which I liked. I would recommend this place. I have had some good cakes and pastry at this bakery. Ekmek, cheesecake, and tiramisu are all good. A little pricey, but I guess that's the norm but eight dollars a piece for a piece of cake. I decided to get one after a long time since last visiting so I got a tiramisu today. I probably would not visit so regularly but they have a huge selection. It's a good location right on 30th Ave. close to the subway and all the major shops along the Ave so it's an easy stop to pick up some treats. Overall a good selection of bakery goods. The fresh Strawberry cheesecake here is phenomenal, and probably the best kept secret in all of New York. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. The bakery has become overrun by a crowd of older greek men loitering inside, taking up tables meant for paying customers. They made me feel uncomfortable, speaking about me in Greek as if I wouldn't understand. This is a bakery, not a kafenio, soccer club, or hangout spot. (He was taking my car while I was away and driving me to the airport.) We laughed hysterically when opening the box, seeing the flattening Strawberry Cheesecake (pic) but it was still amazing! We devoured it! Cut to now... when visiting my Astoria friend and his family who have since moved to L.A. Of course, I had to bring them one of New York Bakery Cafe's Strawberry Cheesecake. While this trip wasn't as long, navigating the plane change caused the cake to turn on its side. Arriving at night, we planned on enjoy it together after dinner the next day. This place has done some major improvements since I last stopped by! I am a sucker for Greek cookies especially the powdered ones. They are conveniently located right off the n/w train on 30th Avenue. The staff is so sweet and attentive. Other favorites include their cheesecake, cannolis and tiramisu BUT my favorite are their powdered Greek cookies. I only get them once a week since they're $20 a lb ... I only do 1/2 a lb otherwise I would have to be in the gym twice a day. The cookies are so moist and powdery; the best I've had truthfully. Although they are always packed, I am always in and out! I wouldn't recommend stopping by this bakery. I was craving a sweet treat on my way home so I stopped in! They don't have cookies, so I decided on a vanilla cupcake. The icing was very bitter and tasted extremely processed. For the price, they should definitely make their own icing. The cupcake itself was stale and very basic. I have been going to this bakery for years!! After dinner nearby, I wanted something sweet & decided to stop by here for some dessert with my daughter. The inside is still the same as it was when they first opened, it is always very clean with so many options, including a lot of Greek desserts which happen to be my favorite! I decided to opt in for the pecan pie, this can be a hit or miss at a lot of bakeries but it was absolutely delicious - I just wish I heated it up because I know it would've been even better!! I've tried both the Tiramisu and the berry cheesecake here and both were really good but different from the other renditions I've had in the past. Berry cheesecake was super wet for some reason. The interior of the cheesecake was really soft and almost liquidy with a thin layer of sponge cake at the very bottom. Tiramisu was really good but it was really more of a tiramisu mousse than a tiramisu cake. There was no real ladyfingers or sponge cake layered between mascarpone mousse. If you like whipped cream and the mascarpone cream, this is a better tiramisu than the typical cake. If you prefer the layers, this probably wouldn't be great. All in all- I'd still come back and try their other stuff read more

Napolitano has been by far the worse one I have had, extremely dry no berries in which I ordered that, very dense and just no flavor, def I will never order this one again. Found this hidden gem while walking around the area. They had great selections of desert and the prices for them were very fair compared to other desert places we've went to so far. I had a sweet tooth craving and it was either this place or Chip NYC. I wasn't crazy about the flavors they had on the menu, so i decided to give NY Bakery Café a try. Plus, I never had any of their pastries before, and was feeling adventurous. Everything looked amazing so i tried out a few things. At the end of the day, it was just OK (meh). Everything looked better than it actually tasted. The flavor was a bit on the light side for a lot of their items. I think they accidentally gave me the red velvet cheesecake instead of the regular red velvet. It has an odd taste to it and i am not a fan of cheesecake. I am pretty sure they gave me cheesecake by accident. Some places have the magic touch to make things taste really amazing without it being loaded with sugar. This place really needed a bit more extra sugar to make their pastries POP! At the end of the day, i should have stuck with my guy instinct and gone with Chip NYC (despite their repetitive flavors). Is this place horrible? Absolutely not. People have different taste buds and i urge that you try them out yourself to see if you'll like it. I'm an Astoria resident and this place is one of the reasons I don't feel the need to head into Manhattan to eat. Every time that I've come in the last few months, I've gotten something different and every time I love what I've ordered. The Greek pastries are great especially the pistachio baklava and melomakarona, a super delicious walnut cookie with hefty amount of clove in the pie. The cannolis never cease to please, same for the tiramisu. Then there are the classics especially the Baba and the Black Forest cake which are just fantastic. The staff are super friendly and hospitable and clearly are beloved by the community of regulars. The service is excellent, the place is super clean and well organized, and yet everything is totally relaxed. Everyone comes here, and it's a real nexus of languages and cultures. It's good anytime of day, but I love coming late at night for a decaf and a sugar hit. (That said, come for breakfast and get the leek pie!)
