Al Riske   I usually don't eat at gas stations but it was New Year's Day and the options were limited.  Gila Bend Food Mart was open and arriving at 11:30am the food in the warming trays seemed fresh.  Pork ribs were smoked with mesquite and available dry rubbed or with added sauce.  I ordered them without sauce.  5 ribs for $17 was a bit too large a lunch for me and I saved one for later.  Ribs were tender and I liked the smoky aroma and dry rub.  Not as good as my fav Arizona bbq joint Rudy's Bbq but this was the best meal I've had from a gas station. On road trips to Scottsdale we usually drive through Gila Bend or make a quick stop at a fast food joint.  I'm glad we stopped at Gila Bend Food Mart.  Maggie enjoyed the pizza.  Rest rooms were very clean.  Employees nice.  There is a colorful selection of pots and yard ornaments.  I picked up a pot with a cool cactus design.  Next time I think I'll try their wings.

I really appreciate her for that above the good service. I really liked the theming of the restaurant I'm sure that's what gets a lot of people in here. They have a small yet cool gift shop (I personally like the mugs and shirts). Over the food was a rough 7/10, about average. The onion rings were pretty good I'd recommend them (they're a little sweet). Overall I'd probably visit again if I'm in the area. The bartender was fairly quick to take our order, but never followed up with us. We had no utensils. Could have used some water. She was very busy flirting with the guy at the bar. Kept changing songs on the music system to coordinate with her monologue about her musical prowess. Very disruptive and thoughtless. The owner (I assume) came in and she, instead of paying attention to her very few customers, extolled her boss about her social media following and how "everyone was checking to see if she was on the bar tonight." The veggie burgers and sweet potato fries were good; however. Kudos to the kitchen staff. We should have sat in the main dining room, I think we would have had a much better experience.

The crust was delish - hard yet the tips were droopy - that's a beautiful job - as a NYer we look for that in a pizza. It was tasty. I did order a cannoli when I ordered my pizza. When we were ready to leave, I went up to get a box and asked if my Canoli was ready and she said "I will make it now" This isn't a sit down order at the table kind of place. From here I was sitting, I was able to watch the gals just chit chatting - I think she forgot. Not a big deal. I ended up taking it to go. Had a bite when we got home, that was yummy. The crust was nice and the bacon was delicious, thick cut, and crispy. My son ordered a calzone and was audibly demolishing it. It was very large and he said it tasted great, so that was a plus. Our intention was to dine in and enjoy our meal there, but the very limited seating and the fact that the table is positioned right in front of the register made it feel awkward. We ultimately took our food home to eat. I would not consider this a dine in restaurant. It feels more like a pickup and takeout focused spot. It is definitely on the expensive side. It was about $60 for one pizza and one calzone. Both items were priced as cheese only, so each topping was charged separately. $3 for sausage, $3 for bacon, $2.50 for spinach, etc. The total came out to $37 for the pizza and $19 for the calzone before tax and tip. They have a couple small dining tables in the lobby area, which are convenient to sit out while you wait or if you want to dine there while your pizza is still hot. The staff is great. They are always friendly and helpful. They know me well enough to give me ranch dressing, which is fabulous. I love their onion rings with the honey mustard, dipping sauce. I know it sounds odd, but the combination together, is just great. I would've never thought to put those two items together. I have never been disappointed by their pizza. It is always top-notch. Vero's does not skimp on ingredients. MY PIZZA always weighs about 10 pounds or more. I have always picked up my pizza and it has always been hot and fresh when I get home which is another plus.
