This was my second time at Oliverio's. My first experience was not the best, but I decided to give it a second chance. This time was better than before and our waitress was amazing! She was so friendly and very attentive. The ambiance is also very nice! For drinks, I had the Espresso Martini and the Chocolate Old Fashioned. These were both delicious! The breadsticks were also very buttery and tasty. For an appetizer, we had the Bruschetta. It is a different take than normal bruschetta and I am not the biggest fan of it. The one complaint about the bruschetta is that it was extremely salty. This made it less enjoyable. For an entree, I had the Crispy Chicken Rigatoni. This was yummy, but I feel as though the vodka sauce was missing something. The Lobster Ravioli was also delicious and did not miss! read more

The only reason this review gets 3 instead of 2 stars is because of the service team. It is excellent. Otherwise, the food isn't anything special--actually quite bland. We got the salmon salad, chicken parm, and stuffed peppers. The latter was the only decent thing. The salmon on the salad was dry and burned to a crisp. Had to send it back. The chicken parm was slopped sideways onto my plate with the pasta... that was still dripping/pooling with water. The cheese was definitely not what I expected. It looked and tasted like a single slice of Kraft provolone. The pasta came with a salad that was served on a tiny bread plate, you know, one of those that holds a little roll when used properly. Much to my dismay, Oliverio's isn't a cereal made with olives (Can you imagine THAT cereal milk though?). But like a popular cereal, it's Grrrrrrrrreat! 5 Stars for a casually elegant restaurant by the river in Morgantown, WV. It can get pretty packed so you may find a small wait. I think they take reservations so that would be a good option. I've only been during the week when staying at the Marriott a short walk away. Our work crew loved it so much on our first trip, that we ate here 2 nights in a row on the 2nd trip. Over the few trips, I had the special (pear gorgonzola ravioli), the Sicilian Trio (Lasagna, Stuffed Shell, Baked Ziti), Stuffed Shrimp and Risotto, Wedding Soup, Arancini, Stuffed Hot Long Peppers, fried zucchini, peanut butter pie, biscoff cheesecake, lemon cake and few cocktails. And I enjoyed everything! The bread is good too! Speaking of dessert, make sure to save room for dessert. I usually don't order dessert unless something talks to me. Consistent good experiences at Olivarios. We visited on a busy Friday night and had fantastic service from our waiter Journey. The breadsticks here are phenomenal. I tried the meatball appetizer for the first time this visit and it was also great. Loved my salmon salad, i subbed the blue cheese for goat cheese and it was incredible! I've been to Oliverio's a handful of times, and it never misses, but this visit was next-level thanks to our server, Sierra. She was absolutely phenomenal. From the moment we sat down, she was warm, upbeat, and incredibly attentive without being overbearing. You can tell right away when someone genuinely enjoys what they do, and Sierra is that person. She knew the menu inside and out, made great recommendations, kept everything moving smoothly, and somehow managed to be everywhere at exactly the right time. We were treated extremely well by our server, Kendrick. The mixologist behind the bar was crafting beautiful celebratory cocktails with lots of flair and smiles. The place filled up fast on a rainy Monday night and it was very comfortable inside with a charming decor. In traditional Italian fashion the pace of the evening was relaxed and we spent a couple of hours enjoying excellent cuisine, friendly service, and outstanding cocktails. The veal parm was a perfect pangea shaped masterpiece. The arancini was the best we've ever had. The tiger shrimp were large and perfectly tender, and the risotto was delicious. The dessert selection was off the charts! Everyone in our party was very pleased, and we all enjoyed a walk along the river trail afterwards. I visited Oliviero's with my family for my brothers white coat ceremony celebration. It was the perfect setting for our group. We enjoyed the cocktails and wine. I had the smoked old fashioned. Additionally, we recommend the calamari as an appetizer. I had the salmon salad as my entree, and the combo of salmon and poppyseed dressing was spectacular. My family enjoyed the chicken Marsala. I moved here from Florida and heard great things about this place. We finally decided to try it this week, and I was disappointed. I understand it's been around since 1965 so they have a loyal following and that might have something to do with the great word of mouth surrounding this place. First off, service was subpar. Our waitress was not very personable. She had maybe 3-4 tables, but somehow failed to give us refills throughout our meal. When the nice gentleman brought our food out, he noticed we all had empty glasses and offered to bring us refills, which he did. She did not come by until we were almost finished to see how everything was. At this point, we all needed refills and she did not acknowledge this. I ordered a MILD sausage hoagie. I asked how hot the hot sausage was and she told me it was very hot, this prompted me to get the mild. I've lived in SWFL, where I've eaten spicy, authentic Mexican food and let me tell you, this sausage made my nose run and my face sweat! I had thoughts throughout eating that this was the hot sausage and not the mild, but still assumed that the hot was really THAT hot and the mild was still high up on the scale. Once a man at the table next to me received the wrong meal, I then decided that she gave me the hot sausage instead of the mild. It's a fancy place for WV. All employees were well dressed in all black. They seemed to have a good amount of covered outdoor seating. However, the view overlooks the brown/dirty river, so not too appealing to me. I will not be returning based off of the service we received alone. Our bill was $52 and I tipped just above 17% and I still think that was high. I always leave a tip BUT I do tip based off of service. You do not deserve 20-25% if you are below average at your job. read more

We had the opportunity to visit Oliverio's this past weekend. The service was exceptional. The location was full and busy with a line waiting to get seats. Our server Emily was on point. As soon as apps were consumed she quickly came and cleaned the table and stayed focused on the care aspect of service while managing a myriad of tables assigned to her. Carter, the Manager, came by a few times give the size of our table and was very focused on the service. Not a good night at Oliverio's unfortunately. Early dinner Friday around 5:30. Crab balls looked pretty burnt. One had no angel hair pasta and the seafood imperial was mostly filler and not seafood. Disappointed from what they used to be. The calamari was good. Unfortunately we found 3 pieces of plastic bag or something in them. Also 2 adjacent tables ordered calamari and their portions were much larger and looked better. The server immediately took the plastic to his manager who at least comped the dish. We had a wonderful time last night celebrating our 50th Anniversary at Oliverio's. We've been here a handful of times since moving to Morgantown and knew the food and service would be great so when deciding where to take our family visiting from AZ it was a shoe in! We're so happy we did!! Food - was DELISH as usual - Stuffed Shells were awesome, Alfredo always consistent and great, but our most recent favorite is the Mushroom Sacchetti (sp?) with the pink sauce! SOOOO good! We tried the bruschetta and will definitely add that as our appetizer each time! Homemade Bread sticks always fresh and delish too!! And the desserts... well... what can you say about the BEST carrot cake (we all voted!!) you will ever have, the flourless chocolate mouse cake for our chocolateaholics is always spot on (my hubs fav!) and my personal ALWAYS favorite is the Lemoncello cake. Everything was perfect! Service - we have always been so pleased with the staff being so warm, inviting, friendly and great, BUT out new waiter, Journey, took it to a higher level! They recently changed the decor to make it more "cityfied" but still serve some dishes on plastic plates! Took my mother on Mother's Day and a back room we sat in smelled like sewage. The carpet was wet and dirty. We couldn't be moved due to the large crowd. Very disappointing but I use to love the ambiance. Now it's cold and lackluster. read more

Decided to give this place a try having been a year since my phone experience. We made reservations for 2 at 7:30pm. Upon checking in we were told they were getting the table ready for us. 10minutes went by and five other people were sat before we were. 3 with reservations like us, 2 that had been waiting. Ok. When making the reservations - I was not asked if I preferred inside or outside. In fact - I had no idea there was an outside. We were sat out on the deck which, is covered and doesn't really feel like you're outside but it would have been nice to be given the final say as the customer. We ordered two appetizers - bruschetta and stuffed peppers to start, as well as a mixed drink. The drink came out fairly quickly and I would say that the bartender on this night is costly then money. There was an obscene amount of alcohol in the drink - almost reminding me of college when Peppies used to use Captain Morgan as the mixer with a shot of soda. So half-lit the appetizers came out. The bruschetta was the hot kind - melted cheese halved cherry tomatoes - not the traditional execution - but still good. The stuffed peppers were a little hot for me but not bad - really liked the sauce they cooked in. Ordered the chicken parmigiana which is no surprise. Comes with a salad and breadsticks. The only problem was after our appetizers came and went, the salads took forever to come out. As in - 25min later. Breadsticks hit the table before them, so being hungry we engorged ourselves on those before the salad. Salad was ok - can't speak to chickpeas on side salads. Entrees came out almost an hour and 10 after order which is tough. But not as tough as the chicken. Breading was half gone - the kitchen obviously didn't bread it properly and oil was too hot when they fried it bc the breading was spotty and burnt, and the chicken was way too chewy. I only ate half of it. We decided to get dessert to try and salvage things - I went with the Oreo cheesecake. It was pretty good but the cheesecake portion kept crumbling under my fork. What an awesome night we had here! We came to Oliverio's to celebrate our son's birthday and it was amazing! I highly recommend that you make a reservation - we arrived for our 6:45pm reservation and this place was packed! We sat down and we had the menu, kids menu, and wine and cocktail menu all ready for us. We honestly had a difficult time deciding what to eat because everything on the menu seemed delicious! Here is the breakdown of our meals: My wife: Italian Wedding Soup and Stuff Shells and Vodka Soda Son #1: Filet Mignon with a side of Fries and Sprite Son#2: Ordered off the kids menu - Penne Pasta with Meat Sauce and Meatball and Sprite Me: Angel Hair pasta with Meatballs, single bourbon neat, and Big Timber Porter Son #1 said that his steak was cooked perfectly and Son #2 said that this was the best pasta with meat sauce that he has ever eaten and he's 5. My wife and I absolutely loved our food - Everything was so absolutely delicious that we forgot to snap a pic of our food! Of course we had to wrap it up with dessert and we ordered the Salted Caramel Cheesecake and the Peanut Butter Oreo pie. Both were amazingly delicious! Now let me tell you about the service - our waiter was EXCELLENT...I cannot say it enough. He was attentive, polite, a pleasure to talk to, gave great recommendations, and he even brought candles for both kids' dessert, so no one was left out. I wish I could remember his name! He had glasses, brown hair, he did have facial hair and on his right arm, tattoos - Oliverio's if you read this review, please give our compliments to him. Nice restaurant on the river. Has tables outside under cover. Good service. But my Greek wedding soup came out luke warm and the lasagna was about the same. I prefer my food to be served HOT. My wife ordered one of the day's specials, thinking it would be at a savings. No price on the chalk board and when our server pitched it she didn't mention price. But this "special" was $34.99. My lasagna was only $17.99. Her special was more than many or must other menu items. Our fault. We should have asked. But there is no excuse for barely warm food. read more

My first choice for dinner was closed and this was nearby. I've had good experiences with Oliverio's restaurants in the past so I didn't really believe the bad reviews. I should have. My table was in the middle of the dining area so I felt a bit on display. I ordered the stuffed shells and they were ok. The ricotta had very little seasoning and the shells were slightly underdone. The marinara sauce was very good, which is what I remember about the place. They melted the mozzarella cheese on the top perfectly. The problems were related to everything taking forever to get food. 30 minutes for bread, another 30 minutes for salad which was small, so I'm not sure why it took so long. 25 more minutes for my shells. There are places with better food nearby where I could have had my entire meal before bread arrived here. read more

My family and I came here as our last dinner out over the holidays. The last time I had been here was over a decade ago in college. I remember it being pretty good, especially the crab balls. I'm giving the overall experience four stars, but the food a little closer to three. Service was great. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The giant breadsticks were soft, fresh, and oily. I loved them. The salad was good. No wet lettuce and the leaves were crisp and green. I loved my mushroom sacchetti. I thought the flavors were delicious and the chicken was cooked well. The only miss for me was the Angel hair crab balls. There seemed to be some filler in the form of dry shrimp instead of all crab and that was a bit of a turn off. I remember them being so good before. I didn't want to keep eating them after the first bite. I didn't try any dessert but the case up front had some decadent looking cakes and desserts. For the last night in Morgantown, we went to Oliverio's Ristorante which is a nice Italian restaurant near the Monongahela River. It was a busy Saturday night and we had to park in the nearby parking structure. Our group was already seated when we arrived and our server came over to take drink and appetizer orders. The restaurant was absolutely packed and reservations is a must. Our server brought over the soft drinks and returned shortly afterwards with hot crab dip and calamari. Their bread was warm and soft and went well with some olive oil. My dinner was preceded with a Caesar salad and followed by the stuffed and baked cod with risotto and veggies. It was extremely tender and flavorful!!! The serving size was perfect. Now it was time for dessert for those who had some room for it. I did not but others had slices of cheesecake, cannoli, carrot cake, and other sweets. Now considering how busy they were, the service and attentive staff was excellent!!! We had visited the Oliverio's in the Clarksburg area and had the best service along with excellent food. Tonight we went the Morgantown location. What a disappointment. The service was spotty with dirty dishes left on the table throughout dessert and forgotten items again and again. While everyone does their take on some dishes I have never had nor seen chicken piccata with bell peppers or mushrooms. The green peppers did not go well with the capers, a disagreement of flavor. They did not compliment one another . While the bread was hot, salt would have been appreciated in the dough. The desserts lacked in flavor; peanut butter/chocolate cake, where's the peanut butter? And the lemon cake missed the mark without a bright lemon punch. Based on this visit, we will not be back. read more
