Finally got to try this highly rated dumpling and noodle shop, tucked away in an asian supermarket in Kent. If you love Xiao Long Bao (XLB), I highly recommend stopping by here. Same or better quality as a "name brand" shop like Din Tai Fung, but much more cost effective! Same goes for the other dishes such as noodle soups and fried rice , the danger is that you order too much and end up with a belly ache later on! read more

We finished our soup and dumplings, then waited 15-20 minutes for the next plate, and another 10 minutes after that for the final one. This is the real deal. Partner and I used to get one order of pork dumplings (8 ea) in Szechuan chili sauce. We now each get an order plus any other pan fried dumpling. This place is located in the large 99 Ranch Market full of businesses and the grocery store like I've come to expect from this cool chain. Once you enter the building this is one of the first spots on the right. The people working here are so sweet and deeply attentive, inviting you in like family and even offering to let me try other dishes I didn't order that they had on another table for their family to eat. As for the food I just got the cucumber salad, tea, XLB pork dumplings and XLB spicy pork dumplings. The pork XLB was ok and the spicy pork was definitely better. It sounded like I should have got the boiled dumplings which I'm finding taste much better than a lot of place's XLB. The cucumber salad which is a favorite dish of mine was just very unbalanced with an overpowering sour and sweetness and a pruney skin. I got to try the seafood pan-fried dumplings which had a cool spider-weby fried dough layer but ultimately still preferred the spicy pork. read more

Food was ok but plates everything is very small so keep that in mind when ordering On the menu it said "crispy chicken" but when it came, to our surprise!!! It was super spicy but it wasn't listed as spicy on the menu The handmade noodle was ok not amazing. The pork soup noodle was very oily like you can taste and feel the oil in the broth. The braised beef noodle broth was ok- only 3 pc of beef, one was tough. The fried dumpling is like soup dumpling but fried.. not bad but not great... greasy The braised pork was good, my son very enjoyed it but it was a very small plate. The beef pancake roll is basically a green onion pancake with a little beef and cilantro in it for $12... you can go to 99 ranch and buy a big pack of green onion pancake for $4 it was just really greasy with some tough beef strips inside... good concept but wasn't made well We used to come here all the time pre-pandemic... sometimes a few times a month but we stopped going cause our last experience wasn't good (food quality declined). I'm really loving this spot! The food's delicious, and the prices are very reasonable, especially for freshly handmade xiaolongbao. My favorite here has to be the Tianjin-style chive & egg pancake; it's like a taste of home! Another favorite is the stir-fry beef slice pancake. Such a pleasant surprise to find a hometown favorite here! And it tastes very good! Now, onto the Xiaolongbao--fantastic and freshly made, with a fair price! We also tried the shrimp wonton in spicy sauce, which was tasty, though I was hoping for a bit more spice. I only made a take out order of Spicy Braised Beef Noodle Soup with Egg Noodles (could have chosen hand-pull or rice noodles). I do not prefer the hand pull noodles because it is too wide, too broad, and too much dough. Well, the egg noodle is not good at all, very dry, bad choice on my part. Good, but I'm not sure I was quite impressed enough for five stars. They put up a newspaper review of their soup dumplings, but you should probably get the house bao zi, especially the pork bao zi. That little bit of fried texture does a lot to bring out the umami. My personal preference is for to be slightly more fried even. Such a great comfort food. I did feel like it was a bit light on the broth inside. Also, the meat was....maybe a bit dense and lean? Not entirely certain. It was certainly doughy, but the dough itself was pretty much perfect. Egg and chives bao zi - Again, the bun is fantastic, but it doesn't have the umami of the pork. I'm not sure what they could do to give this more flavor. Sour fish soup - Very sour, but otherwise I feel like it's just a little bit bland. Still great as an appetizer. Beef pancake - Also good, but......I don't know. I only ever come here to order their beef braised noodles soup with their homemade hand pulled noodles. Time to time I'll order the green onion pancakes and, braised beef rolls(braised beef rolled in their green onion pancake). The broth has a deep beef flavor along with the chewy wide hand pulled noodles is a combination that can't be beat. They also offer egg noodles for the soups. The food not only looked nothing like the photos online, but it tasted absolutely horrendous. The texture was disgusting, the flavor was so bizarre, and the quality was the worst. You get to see in the kitchen and see them making the soup dumpling. we order the Pork Soup Dumpling that was hand made. Unfortunately the flavor was ok and the meat was a little hard. I think they should put more fat in to it and add some veg too. But there is soup in it so be careful when you get it. But then the dish got COLD too fast. Enjoyed having lunch here last Saturday in celebrating my dad's birthday with the weekend after finishing our time at Carpinito Brother's Pumpkin Patch and Farm which was full of fun. Service was great they helped us refill our hot tea since we all want to stay warm by drinking warm beverages. The inside looks very cozy and family style environment feel but everyone is enjoying themselves at their tables. Settling in, we ordered our dishes in family serving size plates and got pan fried dumplings, spicy eggplant, chicken fried rice, and beef stir fried noodles. I recommend the XLB, scallion pancakes, pan-fried pork/leek dumplings, chili oil wontons, and beef noodle soup -- taste, texture are all perfectly authentic without being too heavy. Dine in and takeout is really seamless! There is a mix of Cantonese and not Cantonese items here and comparatively cheap. As in, I don't think there's as many places that provide these moderate servings for the price. When we went for their Cantonese food items, it was pretty good and the cramped restaurant space miraculously was still kid navigatable, which was a plus for us. There's a cozy, bustling energy inside and is great for laid-back get-togethers. Good service and the staff made sure to check on us and do a speedy checkout. This time we got the spicy beef noodle soup and pork xiaolongbao to go. The xiaolongbao's skin was a bit thicker and the broth and meat tasted really clear and just slightly seasoned. It's so good to use as a complement for densely flavored dishes. The spicy beef noodle soup has more of a kick than actual spiciness. The hand torn noodles are soft without being goopy and the broth is rich while still making room for other flavor profiles like the veggies and hard boiled egg. That said, I did find an insect that was imprinted on one of the xiaolongbaos, which was a surprise! It may have gotten smushed while the chef was rolling out the dough. Definitely gives Din Tai Fung a run for their money - rundown below: Pork soup dumplings (Xiao long bao): Delicious, well made dumplings made with succulent, flavorful pork (DTF can taste almost dry sometimes, and lacking on flavor), with excellent dumpling skin. Chive pancake: The meat pancake and chive pancake are both really well done - flavorful, excellent ingredients and perfectly fried. Spicy pork wontons: Tasty, flavorful! (DTF's are okay, most of the flavor is actually in the chili sauce, while the actual wonton is rather bland). Sauteed green beans with garlic: Authentic, spicy and well done. Has a nice heat level! I wanted to really really like this place after reading the reviews for this place, but it was a little underwhelming. I ordered the pork soup dumplings and the beef noodle soup. I'd say their dough that they use is a bit on the thicker side and felt it was a little bit too chewy. We ordered: 1) beef pancake 牛肉餅 $11.99: crisp on the outside like a scallion pancake (but without the scallions) and with juicy, sliced marinated beef on the inside. Yum! 2) pork dumplings with lettuce 豬肉白菜餃子 $10.99: correct translation should be Napa cabbage and not lettuce, nonetheless these were quite pretty to look at with a super crisp fried bottom served upside down so you can see the beautiful fried lattices work. Flavorful and tasty! 3) pork xiao long bao 豬肉小籠包 $10.99: these aren't soup dumplings, just dumplings, but a nice thin skin and delicious meat filling don't make me miss the soup. 4) spicy intestine noodle soup 香辣大腸麵 $12.50: not too spicy, more like a beef noodle soup with a mild kick, I'm not normally an intestines kinda gal cuz they can be a bit gamey, but these were pretty fresh and cooked well so no gamey-ness. 5) fish with pickled napa hotpot 酸菜魚 $14.99: again the veggie here is a pickled mustard green, not napa, but this dish was done really well and I was pleasantly surprised by the good portion size for the price. The salt n pepper shrimp had excellent flavor, although my personal preference would have been to have them served shelled- it was a bugger getting the shells/legs off and I am not a fan of eating them. (I realize this may have been intentional- just not my own preference) The fried rice was a great serving size, plenty to bring home. This place is a MUST go. It's tucked away and hidden in this shopping mall, but it's so worth going inside and finding it. All of their food that we got was amazing. Favorite item might be the fried rice with chinese sausage, you can't get this just anywhere. The spicy wontons are a must, they had a hint of cinnamon taste to them, but I actually really enjoyed that flavor. It was different and I loved it. Their dumplings in general, you can't go wrong with, and the custard bao were perfectly small and gave you just a hint of a sweet treat. They were super friendly and even as we were leaving the people behind the counter were all waving at us. The only thing that I wish was that they had sheets where you filled it out and ordered it, I always prefer that when it comes to any type of dimsum place because it makes it easy to visualize what you're actually getting and how much of everything. False I called my bank and showed them on the spot that there had been two consecutive transactions and were not willing to refund me. The following business day, as transactions cleared, they were not willing to offer a lunch or a discount after showing the ledger of my bank account. I discovered Mama Dough when looking for lunch during a Southcenter errand run. It is in a small Asian mall called Great Wall Mall that I had no idea was there, despite its proximity to Ikea. I noticed Green Onion Pancakes on their menu and decided to check it. As the name states, this is a place that focuses on all things dough. I was dining with a temporarily dietary challenged companion who couldn't eat doughy items, so I didn't get to try as many specialties as I would like. We did try two dry pot dishes (shrimp and veggie) as well as the pancakes and a wonton soup. Everything (except the soup) was oilier than I would prefer, but still tasted good. Two dry pot dishes was redundant since the shrimp was essentially the veggie pot with a generous portion of shrimp (head/shell on). The wonton portion in the soup was also generous, floating in the soup like delicate little jelly fish. Dumplings are being visibly made from a station overlooking the small dining room. The service is warm and welcoming, with tea served upon sitting down. We were served quickly and had plenty of leftovers from the generous portions. Love that you can see them make them by hand as you order them. Noodles were definitely handmade. Beef was soft and tender. Only thing about the soup was that it was very salty. I ate everything and left the broth which i find to be best part.
