Yesterday I went into the Renton bistro and the place is just dirty. Everything's dirty and sticky.

Super cute little cottage style restaurant in the heart of DT Renton. I think it's a small family owned restaurant. Service was good. Food was good. I took down one star bcuz I kinda had to be stern to get the bottle of Siracha.

Small authentic Vietnamese bistro! They have about 10 tables inside so wait could be long especially during dinner time. They don't take reservations so call ahead same day if you have a big group to see if they can fit you in. Food was delicious! We got a few apps to try and would recommend banh beo (steamed rice cakes) and banh xeo (fried crepes). The soups like pho and bun rieu were so flavorful and had pretty good portions. The vermicelli rice plates were also good with a lot of veggie toppings.

TLDR: Small and authentic Vietnamese restaurant in Renton. Large menu with a large menu, but service is a big challenge Food: We had an order of the spring rolls and the hu tieu noodles. The spring rolls were pretty standard with a good amount of filling and a side of peanut sauce. The hu tieu with great with a light but flavorful broth and lots of toppings. They have the option for either pho noodles or egg noodles on the menu, but allowed me to split half and half for each noodle. Service: We came a few minutes before they opened and by the time we sat down/started ordering the restaurant was already full. As other reviews mention, the service here is quite slow. It took a while to have our order taken and to get our check. For that I'll subtract 1 star Price: I think prices are pretty standard. The spring rolls were ~8 and the hu tieu was ~18

I would give this place a 3.5 stars with service being the thing that brings it down a full point. Food wise, it's honestly pretty dang good. We got the Bun Mam which is the anchovy seafood soup and I got the chicken spring roll platter. The flavor of the broth and the chicken was great. Good portion size too! Service wise was rough, it wasn't that busy at all. There were probably only a few tables, and there were at least two servers. We put our names down, and we just stood there. No one acknowledged us for at least 15-20 minutes. The restaurant was not that big at all, both of the servers walked past us multiple times without saying anything at all. There were a good amount of tables open too. The service just seemed very slow. Ambiance wise, it looks like a decent size house from the outside. Inside it's small but seems cozy. But nothing spectacular. Overall, the food is good. We would most likely go back for that but we really hope that the service would improve. Because they would be close to a 5 star.

Y'all. Go here. Menu might overwhelm if you're not well versed in Vietnamese food - ask for recommendations! Coffee also great. 10/10 will return

The food was amazing! I am very picky when it comes to Viet food as a Vietnamese person myself but it was so good and I would love to come back. I would say it is quite pricey compared to the other Viet places I have been to and the service was mediocre. Overall would still come back!

Renton Bistro is a Vietnamese restaurant that's creating a buzz in my Seattle-based relatives. It looks like a big house with a huge deck as opposed to a traditional hole-in-wall. Its a pretty busy restaurant too, with 20-30 mins wait for lunch for groups of 7. Overall I like the variety of food here and quality-wise pretty darn good. I liked the pork chop over rice which also came with sausage and shredded pork along with a fried egg. Lemongrass chicken over rice noodles were also solid. Wife got the BBH and she seemed happy with it. Food definitely on par with Hoang Lan in Seattle, our previous favorite Vietnamese place. Only ding besides the long wait were that the wooden tables were really sticky.

I really really wanted to try Bún riêu and I found this place! We were waiting for our dog to get groomed nearby so this was a perfect place. Parking: very limited right next to the restaurant but I'm not sure if they have side street parking. We got the special pho and the Bún riêu Special pho: the broth seemed sweeter to me than most places. They were VERY heavy with the noodles and not much with the meat. The meat was okay, really liked the meat balls. Bún riêu: I thought it was good but had nothing to compare it to. I was expecting it to be sour but surprised with the light and sweet flavors. The crab was really good And the shrimp.'loved the tofu. I think the next thing I would try and so tempted to get was the Bún bò Huế. I get this a lot in other restaurants though and many restaurants don't have Bun Rieu. Everything on the menu looked amazing. Prices: reasonable. Portions: big! But very heavy on noodles. Very sad that they had no squeeze bottles for the condiments, it's so much easier/better. Feels more authentic but I know this place is authentic. Service: great! No complaints. Super quick but it does get busy with bigger groups.

The seating took a while for us to get. I think around 20 minutes. There was a lot of options on the menu which was a bit overwhelming. The food itself was great and service was good too. I got the bun Bo hue and that was so flavorful and not too spicy.

Went here a while back with family members and the ambiance of the place seemed like you are at grandmas kitchen/home eating good homemade food! I will say that parking can get tricky since it's a small area but luckily we all found one right away! The service was very quick started us with our drink and our appetizers and when we were done all of our main dishes came out which I love when places do that because timing is just everything. I don't remember everyone's order but I do remember we all finished our plate so do with that information as you will cause to me the food was more than great!

If you are ever in South King County - specifically, Renton, WA - try out this gem for the 'more non-standard' Vietnamese food. While I like my pho once in a while, it's like the burgers of Vietnamese cuisine, and there's so much you're missing out on if you just opt for pho every time. They don't take reservations at Renton Bistro (believe me - I tried) so get here as early as you can because there'll be a wait. Once you are finally seated, you're in for a treat. Here is what we ordered: - Mango Salad - refreshing and good amount of mango - Shrimp Spring Rolls - a classic starter - Grilled Pork Spring Rolls - a nice change from the shrimp spring rolls and the sauce that comes with it is different from the shrimp counterpart - Fried Tofu - nothing special but solid - Fish Sauce Wings - caramelization is key and Renton Bistro got this part on the money - Grilled Pork Ribs - generous amount of meat and well-seasoned; comes with rice and fish sauce dipping - Banh Xeo - star of the show AND portions are HUGE; also comes with all the veggies, including basil and perilla leave, as well as the large lettuce leaves to use as wrapping We didn't get any of the noodle soup dishes, but they have them here, including Bun Bo Hue (one of my faves) and the Duck Bamboo Noodle Soup! We arrived around 5:30 PM on a Sunday and noticed a sign at the entrance stating they were understaffed and requesting patience. We ordered the Combination Hot Pot (Lẩu Thập Cẩm). It was our first time trying Vietnamese hot pot, and we were impressed! The ingredients were high quality, and the broth was refreshing. The hot pot took about 20 minutes to be served, which we found reasonable. The restaurant was clean, and the staff was friendly. Parking was convenient, with a parking lot available.

So many seats inside but Just a heads up: come early or be ready to wait, because this place is always packed. It's busy, a little chaotic, but 100% worth it. There's 20 Chinese aunties running around so please come with an open mind. No matter how long the wait gets, I'll always make time for my bookie pookie.

But they lose 3 stars from me because they use some kind of industrial strength cleaning chemical to wipe down the tables. Hard to enjoy your meal when all you can smell is the same chemical they use to mop the floors at QFC and in my apartment building. Seriously terrible chemical smell while you eat. If they are using a spray bottle to clean at the next table, you'll get a cloud of harsh cleaning chemical up your nostrils while you eat. I've had to rinse off and wiped down my own table with a napkin dampened with tea or water in order to enjoy my meal. When I mentioned this to staff, they were dismissive and haven't changed a thing in over a year when I first brought it to their attention. They should only be using something like quat sanitizer, that doesn't smell, to clean the tables. NOT something that is used for floors or bathrooms. and on a side note: if you decide to mop underneath another table while people are dining next to it, please say "excuse me" or just wait. Instead of almost hitting people in the head with a mop handle without saying a word. Also not great for a dining experience. I have worked in restaurants and F&B management. I know something about these things. You shouldn't use anything on a table for diners that you wouldn't use on a food preparation surface. How many times has a dumpling got away from you and bounced around on the table and you snag it and consume it, because you assume the table isn't being cleaned with floor cleaner? If you agree with me, please say something to the staff, and maybe they'll eventually listen. This is a real shame. The food quality is quite good. Probably best dim sum in South King County. I might just do take-out from now on. There are other high quality Chinese and Asian dining options, that's the bright side of living in this area. But if I'm doing takeout, I might as well just go to Dim Sum House on Beacon Hill (much more reasonable prices and good quality).

It was tender and flavorful. You even got a bit of that wok char on it when they cooked it all together with the bell peppers. It was the most satisfying thing we ate. The pho was not anything I would go out of my way for. But it did its job. And for $13 for a combo pho, I was not mad at it all. Definitely packed with a lot of noodles if you appreciate that too. The broth was solid. The service was friendly. It's a small restaurant with a good amount of seating. Nothing fancy at all. But you don't hear for vibes. I asked for a spice ball for the soup on the side. The soup was rich and creamy as the name suggested. The pork chashu was average at best. It lacked flavor and color. The noodles were thick and al dente and absorbed the broth very well. I would not recommend mixing the tempura flakes into the broth as it makes them soggy and they no longer have the crunchy texture to contrast the noodles. For tempura I got a steamed egg tempura, shrimp tempura, and potato tempura. The egg tempura definitely reined supreme. Would heavily recommend a tempura sauce which they happened to run out with today. The vegetable tempuras were all bland. Would not recommend. If you do get the tempuras, eat them before the main dish so the richness of the main dish doesn't ruin the delicate flavor of the tempura. Atmosphere: 9/10 Tables were cleaned and bussed regularly. There were plenty of tables where we didn't really have to wait after getting our food. The tables were kinda close to each other and the restaurant was packed on a Saturday night at 7 pm. It was very loud and we could not hear the music in the background and had to speak up when talking to each other. Service: 9/10 Self service similar to chipotle where you order at the counter and they make it in front of you and all the individual components of each dish are premade. Unlike chipotle, once they give you the main dish in a tray, there is a self serve Tempura bar where you pay by piece.
