This place is delicious, excellent employees with smiles all around, great fresh food great establishment

I should have known from the scarce parking lot. This used to be my favorite chinese buffet in all of the metro but they seemed to have gone downhill in the past few years. The general tsos chicken was cold, egg rolls were cold, sweet and sour chicken was cold, you name it... it was cold. The shrimp skewers were like chewing on a big kindergarten class size rubber eraser tip. The only delight was the steamed rice. Yea its bland but it was tasty and solid. Cant really mess up rice that is made and stored in a rice cooker. Service was, just, okay. The recent health code violations do not help their reputation either. Too bad. My girlfriend and her friend had the sushi which was very good. I have had their sushi before. It's okay, but not much variety since I am more of a sashimi and nigiri type of sushi person. The hibachi is good as well but once I had the hot chinese bar, I was not in the mood. We began eating, the food tasted good and it was hot. Then about 10 minutes into eating small portions we felt extremely full and bloated. We realized that this restaurant heavily salts their food to make you feel full & bloated. So that you do not eat to much at the buffet. Mama Garden is my family's go-to if we want to eat chinese buffet. The food is fresh, for the most part favorable and there's something for everyone. A typical gathering of ours is usually at minimum 11 people, the youngest being 10 and the oldest being... well, however old my mom is. WIth all that said, it's hard to find a place that will accommodate us quickly and effortlessly. The menu is pretty standard, but unlike most Chinese places that have a lot of chicken entrées, there are a LOT of shrimp/seafood options. It does make for a pricier dinner, but well worth it as I can have their spicy shrimp with a side of fried rice and be completely satisfied. I'm pretty squeamish when it comes to unsanitary so for me to feel decent at Mama Garden is pretty good. They keep the buffet well-kept and orderly. The food gets changed out (I'm assuming) at least once or twice an hour. The point is, the food is actually nice to look at and not dried out from sitting out for too long. The service is touch and go. Sometimes it's really great, but other times it's not. It's inconsistent in that case, but I think they're starting to remember us so it's been better more so than not. It's in a good in-between locale... my family lives in the 'burbs but we all work around the city limits so the location is great for us. I have eaten at Mama Garden several times, as the food is generally ok, and a lot of variety, and it is buffet, so fairly quick. In general, I have no complaints, except for the servers. They are almost always rude. We went recently with a large group, and were collectively paying for our 'guests'. However, our waitress didn't seem to 'get it', and kept repeatedly asking our 'guest' how many he was paying for. So I tried to quietly take her aside, and explain...put it all on one, and we will take care of it at the end. "No! I need know how many on each ticket!" This escalated to embarrassment... Besides this incident, some drinks were refilled, others were not. No extra napkins were offered or brought, plates and utensils were cleared from the table before we were done with them! Yet there seemed to be plenty of fresh plates and forks at the food bar, so it wasn't like they needed them right away for another table. I really think it is rude when they slap the checks down next to your plate of food that you have not even had the opportunity to finish eating yet. Why can't we pay as we come in, or pay on the way out? Why does it have to be done mid-meal? read more

Thought I'd try local Asian buffet. The food Was horrible. Tasteless for the most part and nothing was hot. I'll never go back.

The food was shockingly good. The fried rice had a good taste, the ginger shrimp was excellent, and the spicy jalapeño chicken was great! Even the crab Rangoon was delicious and I'm picky. I will say, Mama Garden does have some of the very best chinese food you will find at a buffet restaurant anywhere. I was very impressed by the quality of the food. Unfortunately, I felt the wait staff was rude to my family from the moment we walked in the door. I have several young children and they seemed put off by the fact that we needed 4 high chairs and asked more than once, "are you sure you need 4?" Waitress was slow to refill drinks, very quick to remove plates that we were not done eating off of. When it came time to leave I intended to pay at the door like every other Chinese Buffet I have been to, but the waitress came running over and pointed at the bill. I said, "Do I pay up front or pay you?" and she insited on me paying her. When she returned, she hovered over me as I signed the recipt. I did not leave a tip on the credit card, planning to leave cash, however she pointed at the receipt and said, "You not leave me tip? You not pay me for the service that I give you?" and stormed off in a huff. Needless to say the food was some of the best I've ever ate, however I will not return because of the service that I received. I have never been so insulted by a server in my life. read more

Is your basic Chinese Buffet. Nothing special. Only thing the sets it apart is they have sushi which was fairly decent.

I wasn't impressed with this place, everybody said it was just so good. So we went and tried it. The price was fair, but the food really just wasn't up to par in my opinion. I've been three times now, and I probably won't go back. It never was very good. There are much better local places to eat than this. read more

This was my first visit here and I must say I was not impressed AT ALL with the employees. They were harsh, rude & acted like they were in a hurry and too busy for their customers ( I mean, hello, this is why you are employed here). Food was good, for the most part. I do think it was way over priced. We were there on a Friday evening and for 2 buffets and 2 drinks it was over $26. I may try them again, but will go during the day to see if their prices are lower during the day. In my opinion, just average - not good, but not bad. read more

So gross. Food was good, however, when I went to go get some ice cream out of their freezer, there was a disabled man dripping snot all over the ice cream. Another customer and myself alerted the staff to this. They laughed and did nothing. They should have pulled all the ice cream out but they didn't. I left gagging. I will never go back there. read more

Very nice decor inside. The food was fresh, plentiful, and tasty. There were lots of options to choose from with many selections for picky kids. I was surprised to see so many options of fresh looking sushi. Several ice creams to choose from as well. We won't be going back to the other mediocre buffets in town. Friendly, prompt service combined with excellent food to choose from. Plenty of shrimp styles and HOT fresh food rotated regularly gives you a wonderful expirience. I LOVE IT, especiealy their honey walnut shrimp. read more

I won't even give this place 1 star, i have been a regular customer for a long time and i always noticed how RUDE the staff/water servers were but kept passing it off with a small tip or non at all, but yesterday i noticed the server had increased the ticket price (again) and asked her to run my credit card, when i got the slip back the price had changed and she had rang it up wrong, i complained and they all tried to be stupid and not understand like they were in their own country. My friend also noticed a ROACH on the wall and several people left, if you want to be treated like a inconvenience and overcharged with ROACH droppings, then go, otherwise there is better places. read more

This is our favorite in our family. we go often & enjoy the foods. The waitress is ok. They do get in hurry to give you your check when you got a mouthful of food. Some do take your plate away while there is still food you are eating. All in all food is very good. read more

I am appalled that this restaurant charged a handicapped boy for food he cannot eat he is a handicapped child the child had one spoonful of ice cream and ate a little bit of sauce from a chicken dish.i explained to both the server and the manager that this person is feed through a stomach tube...he likes the flavor of food but cannot eat it..we give him very little from our own plates .........we will never come back read more
