We went for the dinner Buffett and all of the food except 2 dishes had obviously been sitting out for quite a while and were cold/mushy. There were a few dessert items that should have been chilled but were sitting in a covered brownie pan. The chef was also snoring in a corner booth on the way to the restroom. This is my favorite place around me, I definitely eat here a lot. The Lunch Combos are cheap and good. The soups are amazing. I love the egg foo young, it's an amazing gem of a dish and definitely recommend it. If you like buffet style eating, it's cheap but very good quality. They refill it as needed with fresh dishes and keep everything clean and hot. If you like chinese food, definitely come here. You won't be disappointed. read more

I ordered the beef noodle soup and crab rangoon after a long day of being sick and not being able to eat (don't take expired vitamins folks). I looked at a few places and decided on Rainbow bc they had what I was craving and they're really close to me. A choice of 3 noodle types, I chose lo mein and was not disappointed. I asked for spicy which added to the yummy flavor and provided mild heat. The beef was clean cut, no gristle or fat which is what I've come to expect from a lot of places. Plenty of veggies and the broth was so delicious... although I could've drank a lot more! :) The rangoon was yummy and came with a sweet sauce that leveled it up well. Oh! And my favorite part, I found the cutest mushroom in my soup which after spending all day sick, caring for a toddler alone, and feeling like crap, really made my day. We ordered a bunch of food for a last-day celebration from the Rainbow Restaurant, which is fairly near where I live. We choose the lo mein, fried rice, pan-fried dumplings, and noodle soup. The fried rice was one of the most delicious ones I've ever had, and I'm not exaggerating. The beef was cooked to perfection, and the rice was soft and delectable. It took 20 minutes to get home, and when it was placed on the counter, it was still steaming hot. It is very recommended that you eat here. read more

We all have our own reasons for loving our local neighborhood place but I love Rainbow for a few reasons. I must mention that I have never had the buffet or dined in but I have done delivery & pick-up. The staff are always very friendly & helpful. The delivery was so fast it was crazy! I sent my bf to HyVee to grab some sodas & our food was here before he even got back! I know everyone has their opinion on Crab Rangoon but Rainbow has our favorite by far. The filling is so cream cheesy creamyr & not overly filled with crab. Some places are dry or grainy with the filling but we've never been disappointed with Rainbow. The Orange Chicken & fried rice was delicious. A little spice but not too much & a really great touch of sweetness. When I went to pick-up, I saw the lunch buffet which was small but looked good. We order from here a lot. Our favorite Chinese in the Northland / Platte Woods area. We have eaten in restaurant for the buffet and it was very good but personally not a fan of buffets anyway. We generally order from the menu and pick it up or have delivered. The food is always hot, fresh and super tasty. Moo Gai Pan is my favorite but husband and kids get Beef and Broccoli or Schezwan Chicken and love it too! Egg Rolls and Crab RanGoon is the best in town. The restaurant is small given they are in a strip mall, but for it's size, had a pretty nice sized buffet. Their delivery is fast and friendly. I love their Shrimp Lo Mein, Steamed Dumplings, Fantail Shrimp, and Spring Rolls. This last time I tried the Seafood Combination. A friend had shown me a picture of the order she got and it was laoded with scallops, shrimp, and a lobster tail. My order was mostly vegetables. 2 scallops, 5 shrimp and a VERY overcooked, bitter and mealy lobster tail. Won't have that again, but I will definitely go back for the standard Chinese dining staples that they really do well. read more

Called for delivery and the first I called the lady was rude and I lost connection on my phone so my phone disconnected so I called back the lady caught an attitude and then hung up on me so I called back for the third time and a man picked up and he was rude as hell and started yelling. But if I could give them negative points for there customer service I would because that was hella rude and the food was an hour to delivery after they can said it was gonna be 25 Min. Worst Chinese restaurant experience of my life. Food was awful and the waitress obviously assumed none of us spoke Chinese. As we walked in she called us "stupid fat people". Worse yet when two African Americans walked in she said the equivalent of "oh great here comes N***ers hide the money" even if the waitress wasn't a terrible person I wouldn't eat there ever again. The guy I was with is a decorated war hero and wanted Chinese food and I saw all the positive reviews here so I took him there. I feel even worse now am embarrassed. I ordered delivery from here a few weeks ago because I wanted to try something new and was attracted to the online ordering system. It took an hour for my food to get to me (I live a 5 minute drive from the restaurant and the estimated delivery time was 35 minutes) and it was DISGUSTING. My egg rolls were burned and filled with nothing but cabbage, my beef chow mein was a bucket of grease with no noodles in sight. The only redeemable part of the meal was the steamed dumplings. Honestly, the reviews for Rainbow Restaurant (Chinese) do not do it justice, at all! We order frequently from this great Chinese restaurant in Plattewoods; awesome hot & sour and egg drop (it's neon in color but amazing) soups. The kung pao chicken and the moo shu pork are among my favorites. Also the woman that answers the phone sounds like a little old lady you'd gladly help across the street. Highly recommended!
