Great find in the Bridgeview area! Nice atmosphere, large tasty portions, fare prices and easy parking in the attached lot.

We are first timers and will be back every time we're in the area. I'm vegan and the pasta and marinara sauce was wonderful and a huge portion! The bread and bruschetta they brought out before the meal was delish. They also bring a bowl of butter and parmesan cheese, which my husband enjoyed. He had the lasagna and said it was the best he ever had and such a huge amount. He said it beats his ex wife's Italian family recipe hands down. The prices were very fair for what you got. My husband and sister in law went Friday night after filing our taxes. It was pre St Pats Day, Bridget was our server, she was amazing! the food was awesome, and we wanted to take home the little coffee urns, Bridget asked the owner if we could purchase them, he let us and also came to the table to introduce himself and give us 70th anniversary coffee mugs and cookies from his brothers bakery down the street! The customer service could not have been better, Bridget was awesome, we had a great time! The food was awesome as well, the entire evening was awesome! It was my first time (my husband and his sis had been there before) and I will definitely put it on my favorite places list!!!!! Thanks to the owners of Mama Luigi's!!!!! Arrived at 11:07 am second set of doors locked bread delivery on the floor in the vestibule. Called to make sure they were open. They let us in said they saw us and couldn't figure out why we wouldn't come in. Seated and waited for Daniel our server to arrive. He greated us with Rancid Bruschetta, ground parmesan cheese, two glasses of water. I asked if the full menu was available or if it was restricted to the lunch menu only. This seemed to be a difficult question as it resulted in a 30 second nonconforming speculative response to which I responded so only the lunch menu. This was our first visit I asked a few questions then he left came back with fresh hot bread. We immediately ordered 2 meals that should have not taken more than 10 minutes. We ordered an appetizer of the trio just deep fried food. We ordered a Reuben and Mommas Sunday roast and 2 cups of tomato basil soup. We begin our adventures with the bread and toppings to discover rancid Bruschetta. We do not mention it (Highly unusual for me). Our appetizer arrives a d so do the second set of guest. We wait then our soup comes then the 3 set of guest. 2 set of guest arrives drinks ears leaves we are still waiting on our dip items. 2 set of guest order served were still waiting. Over an 1hr later our food arrives. Reuben arrives soggy but tasty. Mommas Sunday arrives warm and bland I had to add an Unreasonably amount of salt I added butter and pepper as well. Was just ok. Packed it up took it with me before leaving I added more salt and pepper and butter repackaged it headed out (traveling no condiments). Went to sleep woke up reheated the meal and winner winner chicken dinner it was delicious. I assume we had to wait an hour because it wasnt ready at our arrival and I assume this is what it should have tasted like. Our server was nice, efficient enough just not a great communicator about menu availability. Food was mediocre in house, left over roast was awesome. I wouldn't recommend until I had a better experience. read more

This place never disappoints! The food is great and very big portions so if you want some of their Awesome dessert you'll have to make sure to save some room for it and that can be challenging because like I said the food is delicious and it comes with fresh warm bread too! Monday's is half price wine which is another plus. My cappuccino was a little off when I went this past Monday but it was my No Complaining Day! Besides everything was simply super so it made up for it. There is a nice bar area with great beer and wine selections if you just wanna skip having a meal and if you like to gamble there's slot machines here too! I had the baked penne with a glass of red Italian wine with tiramisu and cappuccino my other half had the mama Luigi's pasta that had a little spice kick to it ( gotta try that one next! ). Let me preface this by saying I never complain to the waitress or waiter at a restaurant or send food back, the way I show my displeasure with an establishment is i don't go back and that's the end of it. A group of 4 of us (the median age of our group is 25, this fact will make sense later) decided to go to mama Luigi's before bowling because it was on the way basically. We arrived 10 mins late for our reservation, we had a booth for 4 at 6pm and when we got there the hostess informed us that they didn't have a booth for us, so we got a table, not a big deal. We were sitting waiting to be greeted by our server/waiter for 15 mins, we had to grab another waitress to put a order in for calamari to start, we finally were greeted by our server we saw him around 4 times for the 2 1/2 hours we were there. We got a calamari in a timely manner unfortunately I say that because it was the worst tough dry calamari I've had in my life, and had a weird taste to it. Right then and there I knew this might be a swing a and a miss because If you're an Italian restaurant and you can't do calamari you might as well close up. We put in our dinner orders shortly after, We ordered, Crab cakes (my girlfriend filled up on the awful cold bread so she ordered light) Filet mignon medallions Bacon chicken sandwich with fries Ravioli meat and cheese filled We put in our order at 6:43, and we received our order at 8:05, which isn't a huge deal but we were hungry, I don't like being rushed when I eat but a little quicker then that is ideal. The crab cakes came greasy as I've ever seen, and the bottom of them for charred black beyond believe burnt to a toast. Normally I would just say don't eat them and don't bother complaining. But that was just the start of this twilight zone experience at this place, at a few points I had pinch myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming or rather having a nightmare. I tried my medium filet mignon medallions, which weren't filet anything they were cheap strip steak burnt and not even close to medium and salty as can be, the mashed potatoes might be the saltiest thing I've ever eaten. The ravioli were disgustingly salty and just bland. The bacon on the chicken sandwich tasted very odd, very very odd it didn't taste like bacon, it just had a weird texture on it. We grabbed our waitress or rather one of the waitress as our waiter was MIA the entire night. And informed her of our issues and she said yup Everything here is very salty, I couldn't believe it the waitress insulted her own food. So they took back the crab cakes and chicken, the waitress said sorry and said the cooks are just cranky tonight. We then asked to talk to the manager as we were very astonished at this awful place. The "manager" "owner" whoever this person was so rude it was laughable, we informed her of all the issues, and she said "she can't believe a whole table has issues with the food, she basically insinuated that we were children trying to complain and get free food, and said all of our food can be salty it just depends on who is cooking it!! What?? Then we told her about the weird tasting bacon and she seemed very nonplussed by this, why bacon tastes like bacon she said. I think the manager didn't care about our issues as we are not her target clientele as this place was packed with an older customer base, median age in the place was probably 65. They took the chicken sandwich and crab cakes off the bill, which we didn't eat anyways. This is where this gets disturbing, the "manager" comes back and say she figure out why the bacon tasted funny, she said it EXPIRED IN JUNE!!!!! What!!!! She told us this, told her customers she was serving expired food from 6 months ago. This place needs to be investigated by the board of health, that is disgusting!!!! I would never go back to this horrible place, we asked for our check and left as quickly as possible, do not under any circumstance go to this horrible place. read more

Went here for lunch with my boss, who is also the CEO! So, going to an Italian place, I decided to got garlic tortillini b/c I didn't want to be slurping all over the place. It was DELISH! When I wrote my terrible review of this restaurant almost two years ago, I never expected to return. I'm glad I did. The owner, has done an AMAZING job turning this restaurant around! Here's a blow-by-blow account of the awesome experience we had tonight... I was very happy with the overall remodel. We were greeted within about 30 seconds by a very cheery hostess who quickly got a table ready for us (we had a party of 7) and got us settled in. The new lighting and cleanliness is awesome! Our server, Ryan, came to take our drink order. He was very personable and quick with everything! This guy is what a server should be. I rarely tip over 20%, but I was so happy with him that I couldn't help myself! We'd ordered the fried calamari appetizer and the trio (fried mushrooms, fried zucchini, and cheese sticks). The trio appetizer was very good. While it's "standard fare," it was probably the most properly prepared that I've ever had (nice and crispy!). The calamari was decent, but it was overcooked and the cocktail sauce tasted more like BBQ sauce. Not bad, not good; just different. Next, the soups and salads came. I had the cream of chicken rice soup. It was phenomenal. It actually had very little rice, so that let me know that the chef isn't just throwing in a lot of filler. The flavor was spectacular. It actually reminded me of a nice silky, rich, and creamy bisque. My friends and family who had the salad said that it was well-dressed (not drenched) and that the vegetables were very fresh. Next, the entrees. Since I was here specifically to write a new review for Mama Luigi's, I made sure to get a sample of everything my friends and family ordered. My wife had the Portobello Mushroom Ravioli. It was excellent; simple, fresh, and as "fabulous" as Ryan, our waiter. My kids each had their own appetizer pizza as their meal. They have an amazing crust and my kids both loved it (as did I). The toppings were fresh and plentiful. They don't skimp on anything here! Grandma had the baked Walleye which was cooked perfectly. I'm not a fan of Walleye, but even I would have ordered it. It was perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned! Mom had eggplant parmesan and said she was extremely happy with it. This was the only thing I didn't try (I don't like eggplant at all, but looking back, I should have tried it because everything else was so perfectly prepared, I may have actually changed my mind about eggplant). My best friend had the Chicken parrm & shells. This reminded me of the way Mama Luigi's was 20 years ago. It was excellent! Perfectly cooked and seasoned. This dish made me realize that Mama Luigi's really had gone back to it's roots. Bravo! I ordered the Chicken Nee Nee. Overall, it was cooked to perfection, but it was not for me. I can't complain about the freshness or preparation; it just wasn't a dish for me and I can't hold that against the restaurant because it really was cooked very well. They did it right, but I just didn't care for the flavor. Now, here's the worst part about Mama Luigi's... People know it as the filthy dump it used to be. When I told my family and friends to meet up at Mama Luigi's for my birthday dinner tonight, they all groaned. However, after leaving, they were all raving about the food and the service! Overall, I pushed my rating to 5 stars even though I had one major complaint (everyone in the restaurant seemed to have the same complaint as well). My only complaint is that the dining room opens up to the bar area. There should be windows in the arches that divide the bar from the restaurant. Throughout the meal, two drunken idiots were watching some sort of sporting event on TV and kept screaming like maniacs when their team would score. The first time it happened, the guy at the table next to us ended up throwing his fork into his wife's dish because he was so startled. It was actually kind of funny, but it was also kind of annoying to hear these idiots screaming like lunatics every few minutes. I really can't hold this against the restaurant though and even if these guys went totally bonkers, I'd still come back for the food. Suggestions for the owner: First, put windows in to divide the bar from the restaurant. Second, make sure everyone knows this is not "Old Mama Luigi's." Spend some money on advertising the newly remodeled restaurant, the fresh ingredients, the new (or just properly trained?) chef, the updated menu, etc. You did an awesome job turning this place around! This place has been around forever. They serve up a really good Italian meal at a reasonable price. The menu is huge and have anything that you could possibly want. The dining area is small and you can feel kind of cramped though. The only major problem is that the dining room is so close to the banquet hall that the music and the sound from the banquet hall can start to get annoying after a while as you are trying to enjoy your meal. read more

If you're looking for a carcinogenic, soggy, off putting tasting pizza then this is the place for you! The hubby and I ordered their "Margirita" and "4 Cheese Pizza" and let me just tell you at the first bite we were both shocked at the horrendous taste and were looking for the crust which was shriveled under the cheese all mucked and soggied up! I've been to Mama Luigi's several times in the past year, and each time, I've been very pleased with both the service and the food. The servers have been very helpful and responsive to the customers and aim to please. I've had a variety of things from the menu, from steak to salmon, as well as salads and desserts. I love the bread and bruschetta they bring to the table before the main meal comes! The dinners have been nicely prepared, with the meat being tender and grilled just like I have wished it to be. The desserts are worth saving some space for, but the portions are large enough, you might want to take some home so you don't have to forego the sweets at the end of the meal. Mama Luigi's is very close to our home. We've eaten here several times and were always more than satisfied. Mama's gravy is fabulous and we always order the calamari as an appetizer not just because it's seasoned and cooked to perfection but because of the flash fried spinach on the side....yum, yum, yum. I've been going here for years and the bruschetta is really excellent. The soup is just average for minestrone but on Sundays the cream of chicken rice is very good. I usually go with the salad. My favorite is the pork chop dominc. It's a bone-in pork chop covered in a buttery garlic sauce with chucks of potatoes,green peppers,onions and Italian sausage. It is excellent. The steak is also surprisingly good for an Italian place. They have prime steak specials that are just as good as some of the big name steakhouses. Ribeye Caprese comes to mind. The staff is always friendly,helpful and attentive but not so much to be too much. We love going there and highly suggest going if you have the chance read more
