I would not recommend this establishment to anyone. The waitress cussed at each time she came to the table. After being there for over an hour, waiting on food, she tossed the left over containers on our table, refusing to box it up (we never asked). As my brother was putting leftovers in a container, our waitress said "give me the God d@mn plate. Give me the damn plate. 1,2,3. " I have never been treated like pond scum by anyong before. After making a complaint, we were told she would be reprimanded but nothing was done. We paid ober $100 to be treated horrifically. Not worth the money!!!! read more

When you sit down the server gives you warm bread that you dip in olive oil and cover with parmesan cheese which is then dipped into their cold tomato-garlic-olive oil sauce. FANTASTIC!! Have had salads, pizza, baked clams and many other chicken, eggplant and cheese dishes. NEVER had a bad meal here and always have to take some home to finish. We hosted a family banquet at Mama Luigi's on January 6, 2018. The staff was very helpful in planning and serving the meal. The food was very good. We enjoyed our meal very much. The servers were excellent, and the prices very reasonable. I would highly recommend Mama Luigi's if you are planning a banquet for a group. read more

Very bad customer service very rude management, Tried to book a banquet for Sunday they gave a quote and the quote was increased by 25 % and with less items on menu. Jim was very rude and did not try to accommodate or explain the sudden increase in price you call and no one answer and even the manager Dominick was unable to help or explain, very bad customer service and over all a bad expedience. read more

First time my wife and I ate here. It was recommended by a friend. She had the chicken marsala which was good with a nice sweet marsala sauce. I had the linguini with white clam sauce. It was the worst I ever had. The clams were strong with sand and grit in every one giving an unpleasant texture when chewing. I suspect they were not cleaned properly or were a low grade. The sauce was bland and watery. The minestrone soup was thin and tasteless. I complained about the linguini with clam sauce to our waiter who said he would speak to the manager about getting and adjustment on our bill. He returned to say that the manager said that was the way the clams were supposed to be. I have had this dish many times at many different restaurants and this is NOT the way they should be. Based on my experience with the manager's response and lack of concern about a customer's satisfaction, I would not recommend this restaurant. There are many excellent Italian restaurants in the Chicago area to choose from which are much better than this where they actually care about customer satisfaction. read more

I forgot to mention,when I arrived the hostess was sitting in the bar eating a plate of food and when we left she was texting on her phone and didn't even look up to say goodbye. When I told the waitress the food was terrible she said she would get a manager for me. The first time I went there I tried their lasagna which is great, but I don't favor sweet sauce. So I know not to have it anymore. The portion was great and it was part of a nice deal where it includes the drink and dessert. That deal alone made it worth it. The second time I went I didn't even have to ask for water and Nick our waiter brought it right to us and got us on our way right away. We saw kids on Sunday and we were afraid that maybe kids were not welcomed at this location from our first visit as some restaurants aren't very kid friendly. Like someone else mentioned there are more seniors customers in this place, but on a Sundays kids are super welcomed. So the second time I went with another special they had going on and the Chicken Vesuvio was outstanding. I loved the potatoes and I think I found my dish at this place. I got a great portion and again had my drink and dessert included in a great price and on top of that the kids eat free. What more can I ask for?! I thank Olive Garden for bringing me bland food the one time because it only took one time for me to never return to that particular location. Now I have authentic Italian food and "dessert" under one roof! You have to try this place for yourself at least once and don't be afraid to ask the service about the dishes. Ordered stuffed eggplant parmesan, worst eggplant ever. It was hard and tasteless. Cheese in the middle did not even melt, cheese on top overcooked. Maybe broiled not baked, worst part the manager took the eggplant off the bill but I had to pay for the cup of soup included with the entree, because they said I ate it, I actually only had 3 spoonfuls as the "minestrone" was loaded with beans no veggies or meat, poor man's version of minestrone. When I asked waitress about the charge for the soup, she said " you ate it didn't you", then she said you would've been better off with the salad it's 4 cents cheaper. I would never go back to Mama Luigi's and anyone who reads this go at your own risk, chances are you will be disappointed.....and yes it's very dark and dingy, not a place you'd like to have a nice dinner. read more

Excellent food and unbeatable service! And if your kids ask you where you want to go for Mothers Day, go to Mama Lugis for the Mothers Day Brunch! It is awesome experience. My family of 11 all went this past Sunday and we were all very impressed. From the 4 year old to the grandparents, everyone enjoyed themselves! I left a wonderful review here a few years ago. We used to go to this restaurant whenever it was possible. Not anymore. Last year we came here for my birthday for my favorite meal..Scampi Luigi. The waitress told me they don't make it . What!? I started going here in 1993 and they ALWAYS made it. We were handed a paper menu with almost NOTHING on it! WTF?! I searched for something anything on that cheap oil stained paper. I settled for Eggplant Pamesian. Settled is the key word. It tasted like a TV dinner! my husband ordered Spaghetti and Meat Balls. He said it was also tasteless. We had to keep trying to wave down a waitress even though hardly anyone was there. Finally, after waiting forever for the slop on our table to arrive, no sharp knives, no service...I asked to speak to a manager. Along comes the owner who told us things we did NOT need to know. The Chef, who had worked there 40 years , and his whole family ( which was everyone in the kitchen) left together. I asked what and why could that happen? She stood there and told us her life story . Whoa is me..WHAAA! Lady, I don't care what this man who worked for her father in law for 35 years did after you people must have mistreated him. We were told he asked to take over the restaurant after the owner died and the family ( which we were told all of them were rotten except her husband) did not want to bother with the restaurant that sent them all to school, fed them, and put the clothes on their back...YAWN!!! All I wanted was my Scampi Luigi. Poor them!! They actually had to work at this place that their Grand Father started 100 years ago!!! OMG!! While she was flapping her jaws , her husband, the new owner, was trying to,calm down another diner who was loudly complaining about his meal. We left disgusted. They keep sending coupons so, we went one more time because one entree up to $12.00 was FREE? Ummmm...never again. After 10 months of the "kitchen walk out" , they still had a oil stained paper menu with the same crap on it. I hate to have to leave this place after years of birthday parties and other celebrations but, we are finished. I have been here for a couple of baby showers where the food was OK. Closed out the year with a wonderful, hearty comforting dish called "Mama's Sunday Gravy"...Perfectly cooked rigatoni parmigiana-bathed in chuck roast braised in Chianti then simmered in meat sauce with bits of carrot. It immediately took me back to my grandma's Sunday table, as it was so reminiscent of hers!!! Comfort food in the truest sense of the word!!! Perfectly seasoned, and paired with Mama's bread warm from the oven! The beef and bits of veg were so "melt in your mouth" tender! wished I had gone with a beautiful glass of wine, but was in a beer mood and it paired with the dish as admirably!!! The "better half" enjoyed their N.Y. Strip which was perfectly cooked! Being New Year's Eve, we expected the place to be bz with a bigger event in the ballroom, seatings in the restaurant and we were coming for the entertainment in the lounge. Our server could not have been nicer! Immediately, took our drink order and returned with water, fresh bread and bruschetta. starter spring mix salads and entrees were served and enjoyed right away!!! Never had an empty water glass or beer! Even though I was full from my fantastic entree-(with half left over) I enjoyed a cannoli for dessert! The entertainment for the evening was provided by a great friend of mine Ed Hill backed by his bandmates The Unusuals. This guitar virtuoso performs here on a regular basis, and if you get the chance to "experience" his remarkable talents, you will not be disappointed. It was announced that he will be performing the second Saturday of each month in 2019-so mark your calendars!!! The boys served up classic rock staples from the Beatles to Zeppelin, featuring music from the likes of ELO, Johnny Cash, ZZ Top, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, The Doobie Bros. and standards from Roger Miller and Del Shannon. Valerie Talerico, the proprietor even got up and favored us with a crowd pleasing version of "White Rabbit" in between her duties of ensuring everyone had the best time possible!!! We celebrated my Aunt and Uncle's 60th Wedding Anniversary there the other night. It was wonderful. We called Eddie ahead of time to make the reservation and he had us all set up. Our waitress was so patient, did not rush us at all and the hostess was very accomodating by adding an extra table when two more guests arrived and we needed more room. Everyone loved their dinners and we all brought take home bags with us. We have celebrated many occassions there and have never been disappointed. read more

My friend and I go out for lunch after church almost every Sunday. Although we have many great choices in the Western & Southwestern suburbs we end up at Mama Luigi's the majority of the time. They make the most delicious and creative ravioli and parmegiana sppecials on Tuesdays and Wednesdays respectively. The thing that impresses me the most is how tender and moist their chicken breast is no matter how it is prepared. A restaurant that always produces a moist, tender, perfectly cooked chicken breast demonstrates the quality of their cooking staff. The waitstaff is as friendly and efficient as can be. read more

My wife and I have been going here since we moved into the area 20 years ago. We went last night for our 25th wedding anniversary. There was only one other couple there. My husband and I love eating at Mama Luigi's. The Bruschetta is delicious, and we enjoy the Calamari. They create the best pasta dishes at reasonable prices. We decided to try the Pork Chop Vesuvio. It was a double bone-in pork chop that was butterflied and cooked in a vesuvio sauce. All I can say is...WOW...the best pork chop vesuvio ever!!! With butterflying it was like getting two pork chops so there was plenty of leftovers. And the next day, it tasted just as good as the night before. Even the price was a deal since we got two meals for the price of one considering the leftovers. read more
