Everything was very tasty, but the shrimp could've been grilled a little more and a little more flavorful. I suggested to the owner more garlic and he was very agreeable about it. We both ordered Denver omeletes, one without onions. She got hers which had no ham but had onions. Mine had no cheese in it. Only two orders and got both wrong. If you came here before this is definitely not the same restaurant despite having the same decor and some updated booth seating. The menu is vastly pared down compared to what they had before and both the portions and quality of the food are much worse - sausages looked like frozen Brown and Serve, the hash browns weren't even browned (my wife asked for them to be burnt and they came back white), my chilaquiles weren't hot and seemed reheated, and the steak seemed kind of old and tough. Sunrise opened under new management. We liked it before and decided to give it a try. The prices are slightly higher, but still reasonable. We went for breakfast and were happy with the quality of the food, the service, and the ambiance. There are different styles of cooking in breakfast places. Sunrise is more like a home-made, no-frills place, but with big portions. I prefer my omelets to be made with 3 eggs, no or little milk, and not puffed up to look big, like they do at the trendy places. Sunrise delivered a real all-egg omelet. The place was very clean. The seating was nicely placed to adhere to social distancing. The wait staff was attentive, helpful and kind. The food was nicely seasoned without going overboard. I had an Iron Man Omelette. It was starved with sweet strawberries, juicy blueberries and banana slices along with a side of light, fluffy pancakes. My meal mate had a breakfast burrito, which was enjoyed. We left full. The dishes were fairly priced. We had coffee. We needed a pinch of salt to cut the slight bitterness, which left a very smooth taste with out flavored creams. We'll definitely be back. read more

Now in a food coma after enjoying a lovely brunch with my Dad. What great service and food. We both had hearty skillets: The Aztec & The Country with pancakes Everything looked amazing, but I'll comment only on what I ate. The Country Skillet was jam packed with ham, cheese, mushrooms, peppers, and hash browns. There was no skimping on the ham, there was plenty of it chopped up in the skillet to make sure every bite had at least a few chunks of ham in it. I can eat a lot of food, but I couldn't even finish this. Our waitress was very attentive and I believe the owner or manager came over to check on us as well and thanked us for coming. Super clean. Checked out this new breakfast place this morning. It was very good. Sunrise has an uphill battle as nothing has survived at this location in recent memory. Biggest problem is parking. There are plenty of spots in the rear lot but you must walk back around to the front to enter Sunrise. Why not just allow people to come in from the rear lot (like old people that are not going to be walking far to come inside)? Also the front of Sunrise has the giant food posters in the windows. Does this block the sun or something? It certainly stops people from seeing inside. So if the police respond to a robbery they won't be able to see what's going on from the outside. Might want to fix that too. Okay. Let's talk about the decor and the food. I loved the interior. It's spacious. Most breakfast joints have tables crammed in all over the place. You can't eat in peace or without hearing everyone else's conversations. That's not going to happen here. There are booths and tables but they are all spread out. There are great "farmhousey" (is that a word?) signs all over the walls. Pictures of cows, chickens, and pigs make me happy. The food was excellent. I had an Aztec skillet and my friend had an omelette. Service was very good as well. The menus need to be reworked. The red on black lettering with a yellow background is very difficult to read. They also need to put more combos on the menu. In closing, I really hope this place makes a go of it. The people are nice and the food is really good. Let's fix the other things and hopefully we'll make it the the magical one-year mark in the restaurant industry. read more

My family and I had breakfast here for my brother's birthday. The service was great, and the restaurant was clean and bright. There were 13 of us so I was able to try many dishes. Overall, I would say it was very average to slightly underwhelming. I ordered the Sunrise Panini. Unfortunately, the sandwich was cold- cheese was not even melted and the bread was slightly toasted; though, my fries were very hot and crispy. My brother had the Chilaquiles. He was satisfied with them but not impressed. I had a bite and thought they were just ok. My sister had the BLT and had no complaints. I tried my nieces Biscuits and Gravy. It bordered on bad- very generic biscuit with a flavorless gravy and very little sausage. My sister also tried the Ham and Cheese Omelette and thought it was good. My husband had the Special Two. It was good other than his hash browns. He ordered them well done and they were barely cooked. I did have a chocolate shake that I very much enjoyed. Overall, our food was just ok. I'm rating this establishment relatively; in accord with others of this type. What they do they do well. This place was a surprise as I walked in. From the exterior (building, signage, parking lot) one might expect the inside to be cramped and divey (in a bad way). But it's much better than I expected. It's three times the size I thought it would be and much more open, clean and well kept. My waitress was a rock star. Friendly, polite, on point and attentive. She had several tables but never passed by mine without checking in. The food was good as well. The price was reasonable and the quality was above average. I ordered an omelette made to my order and coffee. The coffee was good and flavored creamers are available. My omelette was cooked well and I didn't need to season it at all. This is a very rare occurrence for me! I didn't even need ketchup for the hash browns :). They were flavorful and cooked well, not mushy or crunchy cracklins. Overall a very nice experience. I went in with two friends on a Wednesday with the intentions of a quick and appetizing breakfast. The smell in this restaurant is terrible. It smells like they are trying to cover up a nasty smell with strong candles and was very unappetizing. The portions seem to get smaller and smaller. I ordered an "aztec skillet " and never got avocado or chips(like described on the menu) on the skillet. The server was very friendly, but she was visibly overwhelmed and trying to do everything at once. Not outstanding, not terrible. Very cute and accommodating inside, booth was large enough to fit my family, but you could drive right past and never notice the place. Menu options look great but they upcharge for EVERYTHING, even the two tablespoons of salsa I asked for! "Side" items are VERY pricey. A cup of coffee with your meal is three bucks. Too expensive for basic ingredients, and not very large portions. Skillet was mostly potatoes, with just two eggs on top (supposed to be XL eggs but I'm not convinced) and the mushrooms and meat that were supposed to be in it were practically nonexistent. Sausage gravy tastes like it came from a can of Campbells and it was so thick it was already congealing when it came out. Omelets are good and crepes were great. Wait staff kept my change without asking if I wanted any back, which was weird. Nice place, but no real reason to return. read more

Tried sunrise for the first time last week with Emily my cousin and Sheila. I ordered the classic eggs Benedict, Sheila ordered the French toast with a side of bacon and Emily a pretty standard skillet. The eggs Benedict was pretty good. I liked the fact that they used thick breakfast ham instead of Canadian bacon but the hollandaise sauce was pretty standard. The bacon was delicious and the French toast was pretty good. I didn't try any of the skillet but I did have a pancake which was good. It is a new neighborhood place that definitely has a lot of potential. Sunrise is a pretty decent place to get breakfast. The only thing that distinguishes it from the other diners in the area is the Mexican dishes which are authentic and very flavorful. I was excited to try this place out because I heard it was family owned. Seriously, it was the worst breakfast experience I've ever had. The food was just ok, but the service was awful. We had to ask for everything, syrup, water, ketchup, the other half of an order. No one came to refill coffee or water. The waitress came to the table one time to take our order. I had to go to the counter every time we needed something. After having to go to the counter the last time(to pay the bill), I told them how unsatisfied I was with the service, having been a waitress myself, and nothing. No apologies whatsoever. Just had breakfast here after church. I've been wanting to try this place since they opened. Thank God we did! They started getting pretty busy right after we walked in. Good thing there was a table ready for us. I had the sunrise skillet, hubby got the Irish omelette and my mom had the veggie omelette. They all came with 2 pancakes. It was really good! The steak in my skillet was very tasty, and they cooked it perfectly! It's wasn't over cooked, and it didn't taste rubbery. It was seasoned well. Hubby and my mom enjoyed their food as well! On top of the deliciousness, our waitress was extremely pleasant. She always made sure to ask if we needed anything. She was very friendly! We didn't realize that the owner was the one that brought our food to our table until he introduced himself later. He was very nice, and welcoming. We will definitely be back.
