Huge portions. All of the staff were nice. Their chicken marsala is different from a lot of places. The waitress warned me of this, which I appreciated. It was still delicious and I would order it again. The seafood stuff mushrooms are cheesy and delicious. My mom orders this by itself. My sweetie and I shared the chicken parmesan and I ate my chicken marsala at home. Entre came with soup, salad, and a vegetable side all for $14. For me, this is about 3 meals. I stopped in here for the second time during the Thanksgiving holiday . The first time was about 25 years ago. What a great place. The sister restaurant to the Livonia location. Established some 50 years ago. Mama Mia specializes in traditional pizza and antipasto salad. They also feature northern and southern Italian dishes like spaghetti and lasagna as well as chicken marsala and piccate. No dinner is complete without that delicious bread. A good inexpensive glass of Chianti to round out the meal and a canoli for dessert. There are two locations, the other is on Plymouth Road. Great service and so good. Best pizza in town. read more

MEH!! Is the most positive comment I could say. Vistee the Redford establishment last night with a large group. I've heard good things about this chain, and for my first experience, I doubt I'll ever return. We ordered several pizzas, and a $5 hot and ready from little creasers actually tastes alot better. Pizza tasted like card board and not much flavor. They screwed up my drink order twice, they couldn't even make a simple 7 and 7. The bread sticks tasted horrible. My eggplant parmesan was delicious. I had half of it for breakfast today, too. You get bread & bread sticks. There are specials which come with soup and salad. Momma and I both had the cream of chicken, a lil salty, but tasty. Dad had steak, I had the eggplant, momma had chicken piccata. One cousin had chicken Alfredo and noodles w/ broccoli. Two cousins had the Chicken Florentine, also w/broccoli. Others had lasagna, pizza... Your classic Italian food feeding our large Irish family. Lol. This has been a staple in our house for the past 5ish years. We usually get carry out 2x a month, I don't recall ever getting a wrong order/missing something. Generous portions & good flavor. Dining in is nice, generally not too busy unless there is an event nearby. Can't go wrong with the spaghetti (it's about 3-4 meals for me, 1-2 meals for my dad/brother) but the short ribs are always good if they have them! I'd highly recommend their minestrone soup, I always crave it when I'm not feeling well. read more

Pepperoni and sausage. Whole milk mozzarella. Coins of sausage, like the pepperoni... Sweet mother of all things good in the world... If God were Italian (the Italians I know tend to think that's the case), this would be Pure Pizza Heaven. I hadn't been back for a long time (years), until recently. I wondered if it was still as good as I remembered, so I placed the order as I used to... and they remembered my name. It wasn't caller ID. It was mom and pop technology... It's a largely forgotten tech, but it's when you recognize your regulars - even if they're more irregular than ever. It's comforting. It's what makes you feel like you're home when you go in to pick up your order. And it's why people love places like this. That and the mind-blowingly great pizza. It is neat to see that Mama Mia is still going. Don't know for sure if it's the same family running the place now, but I can attest to their having been there a loooong time. Sid and I went here on our way to the Redford Theater based solely on Yelp recommendations, and I have to say I was a tad disappointed. Its kind of dumpy. I mean, not run down per se, but stained ceiling tiles aren't what I expected. Especially since it wasn't overly cheap. Not expensive, but for pizza and breadsticks (which, again, I wasn't impressed with) I wasn't wowed. But I will say the pizza was fabulous. Thin and greasy goodness. They didn't seem to have a lot of interesting options toppings wise, but we're cheese and pepperoni guys anyway. Service was great and it did feel like a true family run operation. Its not that I really want to say anything bad, I just think I suffered from overly high expectations. Wonderful baked spaghetti!!! Great pizza!!!! I have had a few other specials and they were good but when I go I usually get the baked spaghetti, a large order with an extra salad is plenty for two. The garlic bread sticks and spumoni ice cream are also noteworthy. I drive several miles to get there and I am never sorry. As a plus, the prices are very reasonable. The small parking lot was full. That's always a good sign, right? Our server was new (read: inexperienced and slow). Waited a bit too long for water after we were seated, and had to ask for subsequent refill. My honey ordered baked spaghetti with mushroom sauce. I ordered veal florentine canneloni. We munched on breadsticks, soup (me) & salad (him) while we waited for our meal. Breadsticks are apparently one per customer, as our basket only had two. They were fine, nothing special; I've had better. The minestrone soup was flavorful but a bit too salty. Hubby said his salad was good and was served on a chilled plate. Server came back several minutes later, asking to confirm our order. She asked my husband "What kind of sauce did you want with your spaghetti". He replied, mushroom. And to me, she said, "And you wanted veal parmasean?" I corrected her, "No, I ordered veal florentine canneloni". When she brought our meals, which were thankfully as ordered, we asked for more breadsticks. She brought two more. And disappeared. Another server brought us more water more than half way through our meal. Ok, so the service left something to be desired. The food was pretty good. Slightly overpriced, IMO. Spaghetti dinner $10?, add $2.10 for "baked w/ mozzarella". Maybe it's just me but that seemed like a lot. I think my dinner was $12-13. Again, a little overpriced for my liking. The tomato sauce on our pasta wasn't very zesty or flavorful. It was good, I just prefer a little more seasoning in my sauce. However, we both left full, and my hubby had about 1/3 of his meal to take for leftovers. I had no problem finishing mine. Although if we'd had more breadsticks I might have had some leftovers too! We'll go back. Maybe not real soon, but we'll go back. If I were to choose between this & Olive Garden (which is much closer to us) it's really a toss-up. read more

We chose this place based on good Yelp reviews, but found it extremely mediocre. It advertises a full bar, but had only 1 beer on tap and no ciders. The bread basket came with 2 crunchy bread sticks and 3 "soft" baked bread sticks, accept one of those were hard as a rock. I suspect it had been sitting under a heat lamp for far too long. The main dishes were also unimpressive; my Fettuccine Alfredo was, in fact, Linguini. My date's Spaghetti? Angel Hair! The best things we experienced were the side of Eggplant Parmesan, which was well seasoned and tender, and a the cup of Chicken Tortilla soup, which was the best part of our Italian dinner. read more

It was solid, I literally have no complaints and will put this place into the rotation. This is one of, if not the best pizza place in the metro detroit area. Service is consistently good and fast (although I tend to order for pick up being a Redfordian) and their breadsticks are stupid delicious. Not the fanciest place in town, and the decor is out dated by a few decades, but the service is always friendly and the food is always, and I mean ALWAYS, good and served hot. Their Riga Steak and Chicken Picatta are just two of my favorites. Their pizzas are fresh and made with the good stringy/chewy but not rubbery cheese. My wife and I can eat here on most nights for about $30 plus tip and we eat here usually a few times a month. If it wasn't reasonable and good, we wouldn't bother. Their specials menu is very diverse with many non-Italian dishes as well, ranging from BBQ chicken and ribs to broiled fish and chicken cordon bleu, but I go there for the Italian. I am giving this restaurant 5 stars, not only because the food was good, but because they care about their customers. When we were there a young couple had a baby in the restaurant. The baby was probably no more than 3 months old and was getting fussy. The couple waited for their food, and as soon as it came asked for carry out containers to go home because they didn't want to bother the rest of the restaurants. I really thought "parents who do the right thing" but it gets better! The restaurant then picked up their dinner, which I thought was so generous, simply because the parents did the right thing.
