Rating this a 5 - based on price and service. This isn't a fancy place, it's a mid-range place with great value for the food. Fits in well with the blue-collar neighborhood in the Detroit area where it is located. Casual dining. It has burgers, fish and chips, french dip, coney dogs - and you might start to think "Uh... nothing is on the healthy side" - BUT - they have a chicken wrap with lettuce and beets as well and some other stuff. I have wanted to order from here for a long time based off of the name alone. My wife and I ordered today: burger, turkey Reuben, fries, sweet potato fries. By the time I got the food home, the fries were kind of moist but that's my fault. I'm sure they would have been great if we'd eaten there, and they tasted good anyway. Burger was good, turkey Reuben (mine) was very good. Definitely more of a bar inside but I'd be happy to eat there or get takeout again. Good stuff! read more

Cash only!! They do have an atm but it's easier to stop ahead of time. I had 2 draft beers and a sandwich with fries for $21.00 before tip. You'll see lots of locals hanging out here and everyone seems to know everyone else. Food is great, drinks are cold, and I have zero complaints about service. read more

Located on Five Mile in a strip mall type complex with a lot of parking. We went on a Friday night, which wasn't super smart. Inside is a slightly divey dim long bar, lots of tables, a side room, and a really nice side patio with great looking brick and roll up thick metal shutters (this is an elevated crime risk area). Pretty good craft beer list, made even better for being located where it is. Pretty good prices. Pretty good food. The staff were nice, and fast. The issue was the patrons. As I said, this was Friday night, but they were pretty jerky. Rude, as in won't move so people can order, saving bar seats for people who aren't there yet, throwing a shoulder in case you may get to the bathroom first. Great food with a great price. Today (Saturday) they had $1.00 coney dogs and they are some of my favorite coneys in the area. My husband got a grilled cheese which had a little too much butter on the toast (the whole sandwich tasted like butter) and sweet potato fries which were so good. We also split some jalapeño poppers which were delicious! We sat outside on the patio and it was very enjoyable. They do not take credit cards or debt cards and are cash only, which is a rather big drawback, but they do have an ATM you can use (which for most people has a using fee). read more

Sandy's By The Beech is a perfect personification of Redford. Older, outdated, but they're trying. A couple need-to-know things: it smells funky, like a mix of a house that hasn't been lived in for 15 years and the remnants of the many cigarettes that were smoked here before it was outlawed. They don't take cards (but do have an ATM). If you have the choice of where to sit, absolutely go for the patio if it's open, with the bar area as a second choice and the "other" room as a last resort. Honestly their food and the service are both pretty decent. I do find myself wishing they had a bit more variety on the menu; it consists largely of sandwiches, and some kind of old timey plates. What they do make, they make well and the ingredients seem to be of decent/fresh quality. Overall, I'd recommend their turkey rueben and some fries with an Angry Orchard on the patio in the summer and you won't be disappointed. Redford has a limited number of restaurants so this is about as good as it get read more

Solid really good burgers, some of the best I have had locally and consistently so. Casual and laid back bar atmosphere. Sandy's is one of the places my parents go to periodically that James and I quite enjoy too. Prices are reasonable, waitresses are well seasoned and they have big TVs to watch the games. Burgers are juicy and made to order and for my money are the only thing to get, I recommend the 1/2 pounder but the 1/3 lb will do. You can doctor it up at will from the tray of condiments, pickles and peppers on the table. I like this sort of thing. Fries are standard, hot and crisp. The chili is pretty good too. I was suprised how good the food is here...We walked in and it feels like you are in a bingo hall, even the tables and chairs are total bingo hall.. being in michigan, there were about 12 TVs in the place, and each one was showing hunting on TV (I always wondered who the F watches that crap...anyway) the service was very good, quick, and friendly..they had those lil rotating things at the center of the table like old school picnic tables which was helpful.. The food was shockingly awesome...i had grilled chicken on texas toast..i have been trying to find that around me, because wow, it was seriously..just..awesome...and bang up job on the fries too.. Wow, we were impressed! Looks like a basic bar from the outside, from the inside too - we probably would have driven by without a second thought, if not for the consistently good yelp reviews. We split an appetizer basket of mini tacos and burritos, the clam chowder and a pitcher of premium beer. The mini burritos were nothing special, so I'd do just tacos next time... or try a different app. The soup was very, very good - thinner than usual, per our waitress, but delicious all the same. Next up, we both got burgers - I'm pretty sure they were the 1/3rd lb ones, but maybe 1/2lb. In any case, the burger was so juicy the first bite left some grease on both my hands and my chin. Excellent flavor - highly recommended! Our waitress told us that they have daily specials that they are known for (call to find out what's on the board for that evening). $0.50 cent coneys all weekend, with the purchase of a beverage.
