Always feel welcome. Good people work there. My fave is eggs, home fries well done, bacon crisp and rye toast.

My favorite item on the menu are the sliders. The buns are soft and the burger is meaty size. They have all your favorite coney items and it's a mom and pop feel diner. They accept cash and cards. They don't have a high turnover of staff as one person said they've worked there for over 25 years. There are options for dining in and carry out. I love that they also give back to the Redford community hosting an annual fundraiser for Redford Interfaith Relief with a special menu. read more

This is my Department's favorite spot to order from during the week. The food is consistent and beyond affordable, the staff are very kind and fast!!! I once ordered like 7 things and it was done in 10-15 minutes. Compared to similar places like coney or McDonalds, the quality is much better. My go to is a breakfast bagel sandwich with sausage patty/cheese/egg. Two of these are cheaper than McGriddles or bfast sandwiches from many other competitors. I would recommend if you're local to Redford for an early morning meal on the way to work or a staff lunch at work! read more

Wanting to support a local small business, I ordered here for lunch on yesterday. I was disappointed due to the cost and the cookery. I had an omlete with Swiss and mushroom; I also added spinach with a side of bacon. The spinach, seemed to be frozen chopped spinach straight from a box. It wasn't seasoned or even separated...just clumps of spinach. The omelet was flimsy. For the cost, I expected a thick hearty dish like offered at a thousand coneys and diners in the area. Finally, the bacon was so overcooked that it was chalky. It was a terribly underwhelming experience. I hate wasting money. I couldn't eat half of this lunch and was starving by dinner time. The customer service was fabulous, by the way. However, not enough to return. read more

ordered the #4 breakfast special and a homemade corned beef hash as a call in, i payed $15 for the two pictures you can see. The corn beef hash had absolutely no seasoning and didn't necessarily taste like corned beef. I had a friend taste it along with me and we were both disappointed in the blandness of the dish. Onto the Breakfast special, just like the corn beef hash the hash browns also had no seasoning (to be honest the entire meal had no seasoning not even a speck of pepper) and tasted like nothing. Sausages were fine and so was the bread. Egg was very lack luster, if it wasn't for me getting the plastic utensils that comes with salt and pepper my food would have never been seasoned at all. For the price and quality of food i experienced today i will not be returning. read more

I don't know if I would call this place an "Irish" breakfast place. Irish-themed, maybe, given the cute wall hangings sporting Irish wisdom. When asked if they had Black Puddings or White Puddings (Black Puddings are also known as "Blood Puddings") the waitress didn't even know what they were. Regardless, the breakfast we did order was excellent. Seating is a bit cramped and they make the best use of their limited floorplan that they can. Service was good, the coffee grand (nothing will ruin a good breakfast faster than a poor cup of coffee) and the prices reasonable. We'll be back. read more

You know how the the best restaurants seem to be in the smallest of places? That's Murphy's. It is my favorite breakfast place in the area. Great breakfast specials, choice of hash browns or home style fries for breakfast (although the hash browns are ALWAYS crispy.. something most places forget)... The sausage gravy is also very good.... And to top it all off... the waitresses are friendly, funny, and a little bit irreverent. It's a small place, so don't bring more than maybe a party of 4. The decor is nothin' to write home about, but, if you didn't figure out by the name that it's an Irish place... you'll know it by the 100's of Irish pictures, postcards, plaques, and of course, the St. Patrick's Day Countdown Clock. This is a great go-to for breakfast! It doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside they serve incredible food. My wife and I have been here about four times now since moving to Redford, and will be back many more. The Murphy's Omlette is incredible. Home style potatoes / hash are also great. Everything comes out piping hot, no matter how busy they are. What I love the most is that everything isn't over seasoned, we never feel like we need to chug water later on. Service is friendly and fast. Seating is limited, but it is worth the wait! Many locals and regulars who chat among themselves, which is a telltale sign of a good restaurant. Murphy's is a hidden little breakfast gem located in Redford...something you might miss if you're not looking for it. That said, I love Murphy's! Never had a bad breakfast there although I do prefer my bacon and hash browns to be a little less well-done. I always forget to ask them to ease up on those babies just for me but when I am hungover, I am a bit out of it. Beyond that, the waitresses are always cool (and they bring you HUGE cups of water when you ask for water, a necessity for the morning after a night of being over-served at the bar), food is served quickly and it's good. I have a friend who lives in the area and we've been going there "the morning after the bar" for years. My only disappointment is when we over-sleep WAY too long on a Sunday and realize that Murphy's is closed so we have to go to Redford Grill or find a Ram's Horn instead...wahhhh! Typical 'greasy spoon' breakfast fare but we do love it. Definitely don't come with more than 4 people including yourself and expect to get a table together. It's a hole-in-the wall, very small. Some busy days like Sunday, expect there to be a line or to wait for a table. Small amount of parking on the side, it's a bitch to get in and out some days but that's just a minor annoyance. read more

Um, today's lunchtime experience at Murphy's was what I would call "dinner AND a show." I work in Redford and when my husband came out for a lunch visit we decided to give Murphy's a try due to the high ratings on yelp. The place was cute but a little dumpy. Busy during a lunch rush, but three empty and not-yet wiped down tables. Our server was something else all together; REALLY loud, super fast talker and boisterous with the table next to us. Her making crazy faces and noises to entertain the infant was a show in and of itself! The food was mediocre. I ordered a Gyro & greek salad combo - the salad was quality and ample. The gyro was lame - flavorless and overcooked (the gyro meat may have been deep fried?). My husband got the 4 slider & fries plate. The sliders were quality - seemed hand pattied or at least larger than usual sliders. The place didn't have a regular dishwasher area, it was a 3-compartment sink within view of the dining area. This worries me; it takes meticulous care to make sure your water and chemical levels are right to avoid bacteria growth. The highlights of the experience were the EPIC Femme-Mullet in the booth next to us and the server complaining to her manager while cashing us out about how much sobriety sucks. MAGIC! read more

uh-oh...perhaps it's been too long since I've been here, but something was definitely off. My hubs and I stopped in for breakfast, this a.m. I eagerly ordered the Greek Omelet ( I must be on a GO kick), as did the hubs. The egg portion of the omelet was good, (crepe like, good texture, flavor) but the insides were crying for help. The gyro meat was BURNT which totally effected the taste of the omelet. There was plenty of feta, but toooo much onion. The portions at this place used to be HUUUU MUNGUS, but they seem to have cut back to normal portions. The potatoes didn't taste "real" (like grandma got up early that a.m. and shredded those bad boys). Instead they tasted like frozen Ore Rida tates : ( booooo! The whole meal seem to be lacking in butter/grease. Yes, I know it's important to be healthy and to be healthy and I eat that way, 5 days a week, but on the weekend, I want my hearty homemade breakfast : ) The toast was slathered in toast (me happy), but when the waitress said Texas toast, I envisioned a different type of Texas toast. I've only been for breakfast so I can't speak about lunch. The Irish breakfast and omelettes are the best that I've had at any diner. The corned beef and sausage are very good but fried eggs tend to be a little overcooked for my preference. Service is very fast even when they are packed. There is a definite Irish-American theme, almost to the point of being cliché, with Irish decorations everywhere. Been here several times. We like that there's some unique fare on an otherwise standard Coney menu. Housemade veggie burgers with walnuts (very good), Irish potatoes, corned beef, curly fries, etc. Would love if they ever did a REAL Irish breakfast!! Only small complaint is that they don't seem to make homemade dressings, so ranch is a thick paste from out of a bottle :/ Service is always very good and very personable.
