HUGE portions for pho! I got the pho dac biet and was stuffed. The broth is good, but not as rich as other pho places I've had. The cilantro flavor in the broth was stronger than the meat flavor. I have been coming here for the past 5 years, made a point to tip well on every order and even above and beyond during covid and they have gradually become more expensive while also making their portions smaller. For instance I used to get a large container of bone broth and now die the same price it's half the size and sometimes it's actually bone broth because it's gelatinous when it cools down and other times it's clearly not. They just renovated the place and opened some more locations so they are spending a lot of money and this latest visit I walked in to order a $6 bubble tea which is already expensive and asked for less ice and this is how much they filled it and I said it wasn't filled all the way and asked if they could fill the remainder and they said that's how much tea there is when you ask for less ice and walked away from the register. I had already tipped on top of this already expensive bubble tea and I sense their greed more than their customer service and will no longer be supporting them. We dined in but we were served pho in take out bowls, possibly due to covid protocols but it diminished the dine-in experience. It's a small Vietnamese place somewhere in Brooklyn. (My friend took me and I just followed.) I had the tofu Banh mi sandwich which I enjoyed. I've been here multiple times. This is my friend favorite go to place for eat pho in the area and it became a my favorite place to go. Also I've been other location mama pho(bedford ave)but I liked this location is better than other. I don't like too oily and i liked separate plate of bean sprouts or jalapeño or basil or lime or etc. I loved eat pho and I've been other places for pho a lot. I always ask them to steamed bean sprouts but this place is give you a separate plate of only basil or jalapeño. Soup taste was good but oily to me. I tried mama pho and brisket pho but definitely my favorite pho is brisket pho. Also I tried Vietnamese coffee and oh boy, I love it. This place has delivery service if you live in the area. I even got my roommate also addicted to you. However today, I ordered from Seamless as normal and got an order that was so permeated with cigarette smoke that literally all my food (which was an hour late and ice cold) tasted like smoke ash. Our Sacred Quest(tm) for the perfect bowl of pho in Gotham brought my wife and me to Mama Pho on Grand St. The menu here is limited - just rolls, salads, banh mi, and pho. Since we were on a holy mission (the aforementioned Quest), we ordered the obvious signature items - the Classic Banh Mi and Ribeye Pho. Sadly, the Banh Mi was forgettable. While the bread was quite good, the pickled veggies had very little of that fresh vinegary/sweet bite you expect in a good banh mi, and the meats just lacked... punch. It was an ominous beginning to our meal. Thankfully, Mama Pho's pho was a step up. You can tell the owners take their pho seriously. A sign posted on the register unapologetically explains that every bowl of pho, regardless of protein choice, uses a beef broth base. This is authentic Vietnamese soup - not some lash-up tailored to every palate. They also make their own beef broth - no stock from a can here - which you can tell with every spoonful. The meat and noodles are good with a generous helping of both and as much hoisin and sriracha as you can handle. All in all, this is a solid bowl of pho and I'd recommend it. read more

Mama Pho has come a long way; their broth is cooked for 24 hours and hits all the right notes. I always order the summer rolls with shrimp to start followed by either the chicken or beef Pho. It is reasonably priced and the portions are great. During my most recent visit, my brother dipped his summer roll into his soup and it was seriously delicious though I tend to enjoy my summer rolls with extra sriracha sauce to dip. The soup has just the right amount of noodles and are dropped in seconds before you are served so they have the right amount of texture- when ordering delivery, they pack the noodles separately from the broth to ensure the noodles are the perfect texture as well. Good spot for comfort food. I wish there were more dishes on the menu - however i can always go for a banh mi or pho so not a total deal breaker. read more

Nice hole in the wall spot that has the typical Viet dishes such as summer rolls, banh mi, and pho (to name a few). After a rough night of drinking prior to this-- we decided we needed something wholesome more than a burger or bagel to cure our ailing body...so we decided on pho. No regrets! Geez I was sooo excited to come here on a cold-rainy night in Williamsburg. I've been searching all over for an authentic bowl of 'Dac Biet'. When I walked in and was greeted by the Vietnamese waiter I was like "yes!" But then I got the menu and saw $10 Pho and +$3 for tripe (in LA this soup would be $7 all in). Anyway when in Rome right? So I plunged in. The soup came and the broth was decent. A little on the oily side but very flavorful. The basil leaves were missing but they supplemented with cilantro. The broth had jalapeno's already in it giving it heat from the jump FYI. So in a city where authenticity is scarce and prices are high this soup hits the spot. I wanna give the place 4-stars but I don't feel that would be fair. It's more like 3 1/2-Stars. I may bump it up if I go back and try the 'bun' or other dishes. read more

I love Vietnamese food, and have tried many awesome places in NY... however this is not one of them. I ordered delivery from here and it was the worst tasting Vietnamese food I had ever tried. The summer rolls were predominantly mint plant leaves with minimal portion of shrimp to the point where you cannot even taste it. The pork banh mi was even worse than the summer rolls. The bread to meat/vegetable ratio was completely horrendous. It was entirely bread with thinly sliced pork where you could only taste the carrots and vegetables. Went on a Sunday around ~4:45 PM. It was half full & we found a spot at a large table easily. Ordered two chicken pho and an order of summer rolls. The pho came after about ten minutes. The broth is good-- very flavorful-- and I liked that the chicken was comprised of dark meat. It came with basil and lemon trimmings; we were surprised that there were no bean sprouts but discovered that they were already in the broth, which we found odd, but whatever. The summer rolls were fat and well-wrapped; the peanut sauce was unusual but clearly homemade, so kudos there. Great portions, good service. When you're craving pho this will do in a pinch. I have been wanting to try this place since I moved to an apartment nearby.l, but it's always closed when I get there after work. I don't think seeing a store hour anywhere. Today I finally got a chance to try. There aren't many food options and the price is pretty high ($9 spring roll!). I took home the food and the noodles are raw! I never had this hard rice noodles before. It was literally dipped in water for less than 30 seconds. I had to cook it again with my pot. I don't need to pay $13 for this little groceries. Also lemon, basil and bean sprouts are put over noodles, you don't get to choose how much veggies you want to put unless hand picking those out. The soup is so hot, maybe the idea is to have the hot soup cook the noodles, so the restaurant doesn't even need to do the cooking. I should be paid eating this pho, instead of being charged. read more

This place is solid, has some very great positives. Definitely is better than the 3.5 rating it currently carries. Atmosphere: small, narrow, but they have seating at small tables, and more extensive seating in the back which can actually accommodate some small groups (I just saw a group of 5 go back there). Overall, clean, bright. Service was attentive. Food: I got two things - lemongrass chicken bahn mi and ribeye+meatball pho. Lemongrass chicken pho- tasty, chicken well seasoned and saturated with flavor. Didn't have Pate (thank goodness, I don't like that stuff) or mayo (it could've used some sort of wet/binding condiment). Bread was warm, which I really appreciated. Ribeye+meatball pho- I've had a lot of pho, and some things stood out: everything about this dish was particularly clean. The broth was smooth, obviously the little bits/froth etc were filtered out. The ribeye was very lean, with no excess connective tissue. I guess these observations are all in comparison to the hole-in-the-wall, somewhat grimy places in Chinatown. My brother thought the broth didn't have quite the depth of some other phos he's had. I agree, but it was not a significant difference, and the tradeoff for increase in cleanliness and attention to small details makes this worth it. I ordered the fried egg rolls and the Mama pho. For 5 bucks I thought the egg rolls would be much bigger at 2 pieces. But they literally looked like the small one you get at Chinese fast food places.
