    carrot soup- my favorite dish

First off, I'm ashamed to say it has taken me way too long to actually eat here. We came in on a Friday evening after making reservations on OpenTable earlier that day. I'm glad we did, as the restaurant filled up not long after. All of the staff were friendly and attentive, pacing our meal perfectly. The attention to details during service compared to that of many of the Michelin-starred restaurants we've been to. Honestly the only complaint we had about the entire evening was that we had narrowed our wine choice down to two. Asking the waiter for her opinion, she offered to let us try the one, as they sold it by the glass. When it was not what we wanted we mentioned choosing the other, which was an orange wine. Instead of the cheaper orange my husband had originally pointed to, she brought out the much more expensive one on the menu. We didn't catch it until after we had already enjoyed it. It definitely shot up the price of the check, but was too late to say anything. Next time I guess we'll verify the name better when they show us. ;) All of our dishes were delicious and though the bread service's price is on the steep side it was a must(though I'd love for them to offer butter, not just olive oil/balsamic for it). We will certainly be back for a future date night or to try Bolognese Night!

We had the good fortune to try Nicola's last night and holy moly, we might be in love. As a couple who has tried Restaurant Week in 3 different cities- Milwaukee, Chicago and Cincinnati, this might be a unique instance where they had their BEST SELLERS on the Cincinnati Restaurant Week menu. We absolutely loved the gnocchi, the braised lamb, the mussels and scallop. Need to go back there ASAP to try their full menu. Thank you Elle for the hospitality

Nicola's offers a delightful experience that I don't enjoy nearly often enough! Recently, I had the opportunity to bring an out of town guest and Nicola's duly impressed her. The service was impeccable. Our water glasses were never less than half full and we constantly had everything we needed. On the server's recommendation, I had the Nero Noce cocktail which was smooth and warming. Foodwise, we began with the eggplant parmigiana, which I hadn't had before but won't neglect in the future. There's a reason why it's a menu staple; that smoky pomodoro sauce belongs on everything! I continued with a half portion of the famous gnocchi and the halibut. Not large portions but amazing cuisine. From the chandeliers to the white tablecloths, Nicola's just feels special. I'm so glad the food, drinks, and service are truly worthy of the setting.

This was an elegant and delightful dining experience. We were seated in a private corner upstairs. Service was excellent with great recommendations, understand and accommodating of dietary restrictions, an so attentive. They offer a special gluten free bread service-it's not only delicious but beautiful too. Request it right away as it takes 20 minutes to prep. Everything we had was perfect.

It felt like dining in Europe, with service that allowed the group I was with to sit and talk for hours. The kindest servers & hosts, food that was worth dreaming about, and an atmosphere that was cozy and inviting for such sweet conversations!

I have never been to a Michelin star restaurant before but this is what I picture it being like. Elegant, yes a little pricey, but unique and extremely tasty food! To start out, our server was fantastic and helped us in deciding what to order through his reccomendstions. We ordered the housemate breads for the table. Normally, I don't like to buy bread at a restaurant but this is one place I'd recommend doing so as the bread wasn't ordinary. It was different and featured several different varieties to try out. I'm not a big mussels guy but a couple people at our table ordered them and said it was one of the tastiest mussels they had in a long time. For the main course, we ordered a couple malfatti, the braised lamb spaghetti, the gnocchi, and an octopus. Again, I'm not a fan of octopus but my mom said she loved it! The lamb braised spaghetti was filling and tasty while the gnocchi was some of the best gnocchi I've had outside of Italy. The star of the show was the unique to this restaurant malfatti. I don't know how to describe, but it was one of those dishes that you just have to have if you're looking for something new and that you can't get anywhere else. Reservations to this place are hard to get but it is definitely worth it. If you want to dine like royalty for one night and have a good excuse to treat yourself and your friends/family, this place is a must! And unlike other high end places that I've had in Cincinnati like Collette, I didn't leave hungry! That's always a good sign of a restaurant that knows how to make you satisfied

We came in for their special Mother's Day menu. First time dining here, and we were not disappointed. Initially we were seated inside the restaurant, but they happily accommodated my wife request to eat out on their patio, which is very nice! For our appetizer, my wife tried their roasted mushroom soup, which she loved, and I tried their baked oysters. I'm not a huge oyster lover, but these were very good. We both ordered their Tagliatelle Bolognese. Off the hook good! Our server shared with us that Monday evenings are Bolo Monday, and I would say that is worth the price. Both of us tried the tiramisu for dessert - it was excellent. High marks for the food and service. They were both fantastic. We will be back!

We had a reservation and got a fantastic table outside for our group of 7. The appetizers came quickly but the drinks took some time. I waited 15 min for my martini and so did a couple of people who ordered wine. We waited 25 minutes for our desserts and asked a couple of different people if they were coming. We got there at 530 and it took nearly 3 hours for us to eat due to the slower service.

Amazing upscale dining option for a date night, celebration, girls night, you name it. We went with some friends and everyone ordered something different! We got the bread variety which was delicious and a round of drinks. The espresso martini was one of the best in Cincinnati - very espresso forward and not too sweet. I ordered the Hard Thymes and it was so refreshing and light. For your main - you cannot go wrong with the gnocchi or the bolognese! Already craving their espresso martini and bolognese...

One of the more higher end Italian restaurants in Cincinnati. This has been on my list for awhile and finally got to try it out. It sure did not dissappoint. The servers were very professional and welcoming. Their truffle gnocchi was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The bolognese was rich and flavorful and paired well with their selections of homemade bread. My favorite was the presentation of the tiramisu, I will definitely be back for more!

Food was nice but I ordered a high end bourbon that was served in a glass that was hot from the dishwasher. I asked the server for ice and was given a fresh glass but that did not correct the issue of the warm bourbon . This is unacceptable for this class of restaurant and mandatory 20% tip on a large party.

Went to Nicola's for a friend dinner anniversary and it was great. Our server Maddie was really nice and helped with great recommendations! Would love to come back and check out their bolo Monday!

    Are there vegan friendly options?

Don't do it. Our vegetarian asked for a vege pasta dish and it was, quite literally, overcooked Barilla pasta with watery Campbell's soup dumped on it. My advice: steer clear.

Do they still do Bolo mondays?

Yep! $15 for bolognese and it includes a salad. Great deal! Delicious!

We had a bit of an issue in that we made the reservation over two weeks ago with the specific request to be seated away from the kitchen door, and we ended up being seated right near the very small hostess area and of course, next to the kitchen door. Because it is so exxxxxxpensive, this is not a restaurant you casually dine at. But since it was my sister's Bachelorette weekend, my group of 7 treated the bride-to-be to a luxurious dinner here in May 2026. And she had a wonderful experience! The interior is gorgeous, elegant, and smells amazing. The staff is professional and runs with the efficiency of a Michellen-starred restaurant. I always enjoy watching a staff of 7 deliver the table their food like they are performing a choreographed dance. I ordered the cheapest drink on the menu - a yummy local beer from MadTree for $7. The others had much more expensive cocktails that were $20+. You won't have to worry - while their food menu is small and selective, the drink menu is HUGE. They surprised us with glasses of in honor of my sister's upcoming nuptials. That was a lovely treat! I kept to being a cheap-o and ordered the $18 "Arpege" salad as my main. It didn't have any meat but it had a lot of cheese! Yum! Others ordered more substantial mains like the scallops, the beef tartare, the halibut, etc. All were plated beautifully. I had a bite of the bolognese, and while a small portion, it was superb. You do have to pay for bread service but it is unlimited refills so on $8, the 7 of us went through 6 loaves of bread and 6 trays of delicious salted butter. I personally probably had 2 loaves on my own. My god, it was the best thing I ate the entire trip! After we ate our mains, we then ordered a variety of desserts. Most of us got ice cream (get the strawberry!!). My sister and another girl got the famous "candy bar" dessert and the cheesecake. I had a bite of the candy bar and for $15, it was the most dense candy bar ever! Sooooo much chocolate! I'll end here but with tax and tip, we paid about $630ish. My portion was $51, by far the lowest of the group. I got out relatively cheaply because I filled up on bread but feel free to treat yourself and indulge a bit more!

It was all delicious, service was wonderful, vibes were beautiful, and I felt the food came at a good value for what we ordered. Mainstrasse in Covington is an experience and Mama's is part of that! We sat outside on the patio to take it all in- highly recommend in nice weather. The building itself is beautiful and both the inside and outside feature artsy details in the decor that I really appreciated. My favorite was the mismatched plates, which were darling and cozy! Our waitstaff was quick and friendly, allowing us to order all at once and bringing things out with great timing- quickly, but not until we finished a course so we weren't rushed. We appreciated getting in and out relatively quick as we had a sitter at home. We decided to go a little all out and try a lot of items together. First, the focaccia and ricotta was enjoyable but not my favorite bread starter I've had. It hit the spot but I wasn't raving about it like another one of my favorite whipped ricotta starters across town. The arancini, however, was fantastic- probably our favorite thing we ate. Hot, crispy, and paired with a delicious spicy marinara that was super standout and flavorful. Next we got the stonefruit panzanella, which was beautiful and really yummy. The burrata was delicious in particular and while the cherries and peaches weren't the best I've had all season, they worked well together in this dish. For our entrees, we split both the chicken parmesan and the limone pasta. The chicken parmesan was huge, we both had a large piece even after it was split. The pasta had that delicious marinara from earlier and we really enjoyed it, which is saying a lot for a simple marinara spaghetti. The chicken was very thin and crispy. I liked the limone even better- it was very lemon forward which can be hard to achieve in a creamy sauce. We only wished we tried more shapes of pasta because it's made in house and the spaghetti was the perfect level of al dente in our opinions. We were super full, but ordered the cookie platter to finish the meal. We split a couple of the 6 cookies that came in 3 varieties, but took the rest home! The chewy almond/amaretto cookie was our favorite and really unique. My husband also had an old fashioned and commented that he liked it a lot. I would have expected this much food to come out to much more than it did- $100! I feel that is a great value for a special occasion considering we were stuffed and tried a ton of menu items. Overall, this was such an indulgent and fun experience and I'd highly recommend Mama's to anyone who is looking for a yummy Italian experience with comfort food classics in a fun, cozy Covington setting.

Our reservation was at 7:30 and we arrived around 7:25. When we got there I noticed the table near the chef's counter was still occupied, but we weren't too concerned since the party already had their to-go bags on the table. About 15 minutes passed and they ended up ordering dessert (slowly), so it became clear they weren't leaving anytime soon. The manager offered us a different table and apologized, but Lola had been really looking forward to the chef's seating since that's specifically what we reserved. In the end we waited about an hour, which was frustrating, especially since the other party could clearly see we were waiting. Overall it was an awkward situation to be in. That said, the staff handled the situation very kindly. The manager offered Lola a tour of the kitchen and the chance to meet the chef. My daughter was a little nervous and wanted me to go with her, but it seemed like the invitation was meant just for her and they didn't want adults in the kitchen (I get it!). The manager noticed she was scared and took her hand and walked her through the kitchen which made my daughter feel at ease. It was a thoughtful gesture and they were incredibly apologetic the whole time. Again, it was just an awkward situation overall. Plus we were starving. The food, however, was fantastic. The pasta was made from scratch and tasted incredibly fresh. The eggplant parmigiana was excellent, and I especially loved the "Via-misu." Despite the long wait, the staff was so kind and apologetic that it actually made us want to come back and try the experience again.
