When we saw that this was a Mexican restaurant we expected traditional Mexican food. What a surprise to find a fusion of Mexican and Indian food. The atmosphere is fun and diverse, the menu gives options for both more traditional food and some interesting fusions, like chicken tiki masala tacos where naan is the taco shell and the chicken is topped with avocado and pickled onions. Quality: Food was okay. The steak Fajitas tasted better than the chicken. Tortillas were oily. The shredded cheese seemed odd to me to come with Fajitas. It could have tasted better if they were going to include it. My friend got the chicken Tikka Fajitas but that erred more on the side of indian/pakistani than a cohesive fusion. That came with two mini naans which were also very oily. The Tikka wings could have been crisper. The sauce made it soggy. The mango habanero chutney was great, a perfect balance of hot and sweet. Service: Food came out at a reasonable time and we were seated right away despite it being busy. But our water jug was not refilled and they barely checked on us. We had to flag them down to get their attention. I had to ask multiple times for the same things and a few times I felt like I was being ignored. Nor did they take our dishes away while we ordered other items. We seemed to inconvenience them when we asked for separate checks, but luckily they did oblige. Atmosphere: The decor is beautiful with amazing wall art. Bathrooms are extremely clean. Overall: The concept is interesting, however, the food could have tasted better for how it looks. So this place recently opened, and the bar area is fantastic. The decor is loaded with cool images of Mexican art. We decided to go for a round of beef tacos, carnivore delight that really hit the spot. I was also impressed with Mama Tigre's authentic guacamole dip. It was the perfect compliment to their delicious tacos On a whim, we also ordered some jalapeño poppers. I have to admit that I had low expectations for this one. Expecting your typical frozen poppers that one finds in most bars, I was stunned to find that Mama Tigre's poppers made from scratch... yum! Really creative menu and fantastic food. If you read the chef's background, the menu makes perfect sense. I carried out the masala enchiladas and the skillet chimichanga. Both were terrific but the enchiladas were memorable (the salsa was great too). I am looking forward to exploring more of the menu. My only request is that they let you order the tacos a la carte. There are so many that sound terrific but I don't want to commit to just one kind. Like the other reviews, the service is still a work in progress. This restaurant opened during the time of COVID-19. The owners are the former Tequila Grande (Vienna) owners. Excellent food, super friendly staff and management that goes above and beyond for their customers. They are super busy right now, yet their food and staff do not disappoint! If you're looking for some unexpectedly tasty fusion, this is your place! Never have I come across a Mexican/Indian restaurant so I was very excited to see what was available. We started off with an order of the Jalapeno Poppers, which were just the right amount of crunch and even came with a side of mango chutney and crema. For my meal, I had Masala Enchiladas. It came with two enchiladas, a side of beans, and a side of rice. The enchiladas were smothered with a little spicy and super flavorful Indian curry. As for the sides, there was a small portion size of beans but it was all very good. As for prices, the poppers were $11, which might be a lot for four poppers as an appetizer, and the enchiladas were $13, which was reasonable because it came with sides as well. In terms of COVID safety precautions, all the staff wore masks, customers were seated at least six feet apart, and both outdoor and indoor seating was available. We actually chose to sit outside because it was a sunny day, but be aware that there are no heaters. Since it is fusion, don't come expecting authentic Indian or Mexican food, but it was right on point for Mexi-ndian or Ind-exican! Although the portion size of beans was less than expected, I'll still for sure be coming back to try out other creative fusion entrees! read more

But It makes sense because of similarities of their cuisine. I tried the civeche, chicken. Taquito, and tamale. We got on the 30min waitlist, but was seated in 15mins. Our server was very nice and bubbly. Had great recommendations. We all had a round of margaritas, i had the spicy guava one. Indian/Mexican fusion restaurant? Count me in! I was sold as soon as I saw they made masala enchiladas *drools*. We had the carne asada steak tacos, masala enchiladas, tikka wings, and the street ensalada. This was a to go order, and everything was packaged well and the portions were HUGE!! The masala enchiladas were very flavorful, I was just sad when all the yummy sauce got soaked up into the tortilla. Womp. The carne asada tacos were seasoned well and we loved the addition of the grilled onions. The street ensalada had potential but I don't think the fruits had enough time to marinate in the lime juices or whatever was supposed to bring it all together! Refreshing nonetheless. The tikka wings tasted different than what I was expecting, but I still enjoyed them. I think they would have been even better if I had dined in. Oh, and don't be fooled by the initial sweetness of the mango habanero chutney served with them...the spices will catch up to you and wreak havoc on your tastebuds. But you won't stop dipping because it's so good! LOL There are so many fun combinations on Mama Tigre's menu. Great concept. Chicken quesadillas were ok, shrimp taco was not so much, overcooked so probably won't be returning.

We went on a Thursday without reservations. Put our name and on the wait list and found empty seats at the bar. No one acknowledged us for 15 minutes. I'm not asking to be served right away but eye contact and a "give me a few" go a long way in this world. Once they got to us the drinks came up fast and we were offered chips/salsa. Text message came in that our table was ready. I went to hostess stand while husband flagged down bartender to pay. We were seated at a four top so there was plenty of space for the two of us. Server took a while to come to us. Table beside us looked miserable- I couldn't figure out if they were waiting for food or their check! We ordered food, tough choice as everything sounded great. Table next to us was delivered their food. There was an issue with one of the entrees. Long story short, it took them three tries to get my order correct. At that point I had them package it to go. Manager came by to apologize and took care of our food items from the check. Was very polite and apologetic. I ate my food the next day and it was delicious and husband said his burrito was "amazing"-and he usually just says "eh" about food so that means something. Anyway, great food, although loud the atmosphere was nice. Decor was appealing. Server was good, not his fault the kitchen got my meal incorrect. They need to work on the kitchen (my order and the table next to us and someone at the bar had something incorrect with their order also) as well as greeting people sooner. Yes, it was packed so I expect things to be a bit bumpy but they should be used to their level of business. As I said prior, a greeting is way better than being ignored. I placed a pickup order on Saturday night. Good thing, too because the restaurant was jumping. Lots of people and I can see why: the food is awesome. We ordered 3 dinners: cauliflower tacos, masala enchilada platter, and--for the least adventurous of us--the bean burrito. We are all vegetarians and this was such a great meal. The web site predicted about 60 minutes from order until pick up but it was actually 45. They have a separate window and close parking spaces for pickup. I love it when a restaurant does that. The food came in multi-compartment plastic trays, which is handy for keeping things neat and separated. But I haven't really talked about the food flavour yet. The combinations of masala and Indian spices with Mexican/Latin bases is just brilliant. It's blended where you taste both, but not overwhelmingly. The salsa has onions cut differently and a bit of Indian spice in it too. Everything is just a little bit (or a lot) different. And so many vegetarian choices. This place was really fun! My very helpful, honest and humble yet amazingly wonderful CNAs took me here for my 75th birthday. The food was amazing! I had my own order and sampling of every one else's too!! How delicious !!! I was surprised at how good the service was - they sang H-bday, on key and only as loud as was needed - whilst bussing the table!! Amazing! And at a very affordable rate. I got a peek at the check... The ambience could use a little help as the tables remind me of cafeteria furniture and the colors are a bit off for a restaurant. Overall, a good time was had by all! I really appreciate my nurse aides and I don't know what I would do without them as my wife just passed away this past Thanksgiving. They are simply the GOAT* of assistants who serve with compassionate care. My new favorite place in the Vienna area! The decor is gorgeous - hip with classic references to the culture featured in the cuisine. Staff is very friendly - I even met the owner on our first visit! Now the best part - the food! A very big menu, organized with lots of options - small plates, more classic Mexican-style plates, veggie plates, drinks. We chose the ceviche, the poblano chile dish with paneer cheese, and the fish tacos with tikka masala. It was a lot of food! The Mexican rice, fruit salsa, and black beans served with the two larger dishes were very tasty. The fish tacos - wonderful. Fish cooked perfectly, and the sauce was very flavorful. The ceviche was perfect - classic. The poblano chile was rich and hearty, with a mole flavor. Also, chips and salsa offered at the start. Chips were delicate and not greasy. Yum. Salsa was very good. Desserts looked great, but alas, no room in the tummy. We sat outdoors on a perfect evening and enjoyed the sunset. An excellent experience and I can't wait to read more
