Holy crap! Let me just start out by saying that the food was AMAZING! Typically, I don't enjoy Mexican food, but this isn't your typical Mexican food. It has hints of Indian spices in it, just enhancing the flavor astronomically! If I could give this more than 5 stars, I would. This restaurant deserves all the hype possible! When you first walk into this restaurant, the decor is awesome! Modern with splashes of color that really work with the interior of the restaurant! They have tables and booths alike so you always have a cool view of the restaurant while being very comfortable! The restaurant is very clean and everything is organized! Salsa and chips come complimentary with your experience! The salsa was phenomenal! It had that level of spiciness that was perfect, but also tasted so fresh! The chips were sliced and fried to perfection! It was light, thin, and unbelievably crunchy. The chips were paired perfectly with the spiciness and freshness of the salsa! We also got an appetizer, called the chicken and cheese Taquitos! They come as a pair and it was mouthwatering! The outside of the taquitos was crisp while inside was cheesy and had big pieces of chicken. It came with a slaw that helped ease the heaviness of the taquito and added a touch of sweetness that was very welcomed! I would get that appetizer again! We also got a Burrito Gordo and it was HUGE! I had to share it with my boyfriend and we couldn't even finish! It had that taste of heavy spices and perfectly cooked rice. Everytime I get burrito, I always worry that the rice or the meat will be overcooked or undercooked, but it was none of that! It was perfectly cooked and unbelievably juicy! I am a little regretful that we didn't order dessert! We were so so full! But there is always a next time! The margaritas were also really good! They were very very fresh and a perfect blend of alcohol and fruit! The pictures included were the entrees of our friends, so I didn't get to try it! But we will DEFINITELY BE BACK!!!! Mama Tigre offers a host of Margaritas and food that are delicious. The group at the bar is exceptional as well as the rest of the crew. If you're like me, a little bit of Portuguese or Spanish works wonders, but isn't necessary. I hope there's more of these that open. It's a awesome spot to hang out in. read more

Honestly the wait here is terribly long. A little ridiculous that they don't take reservations or call ins but I guess that means business is booming. Also disappointed because we called beforehand and were told the wait is 20-30 minutes and when we asked questions regarding call ins the staff was rude and dismissive. Regardless we put our name on the list for a 55 minute. They actually texted us that the table was ready within 15 minutes which was nice but I guess the estimate was terribly off. Now coming on to the service itself. We were promptly seated and our server brought us chips and salsa. Service seemed promising so far and then it went so downhill. We finished our chips and he didn't bring us another round of chips despite making eye contact two times with us and quickly refilling the chips at the table right next to ours. I will say he gave great service to the table next to ours throughout though- quick to bring them drinks as well. Only got another batch of chips after I asked and even then he didn't think to replace the salsa when he could see we were out. Also I asked him specifically if the masala enchiladas had flour or corn tortillas and he categorically said flour. Of course when they came out they were corn. And they have these cards on the tables that you can flip to say you need service (red) or you're okay (green). We had it on red, he walked by, quickly flipped it without asking us anything, and walked away before we could stop him. And now for the food. It's different and the blend of Mexican and Indian is unique. The food also comes out pretty quickly. Doesn't really fulfill my Mexican craving but definitely can see the appeal, especially for vegetarians as there are more options. In the chicken tortilla soup there was 1 piece of chicken in the whole thing so that's disappointing. Regardless food is not worth the terrible customer service. Tldr; will not be back and regret forcing my parents to come here. Overall atmosphere is unwelcoming and inattentive. Lots of other restaurants with better food and service. read more

Creative Mexican with a twist. The tikka burrito was great, though probably a heart attack and the fajita steak meat was actually quite tender. Typically the skirt steak is pretty chewy at typical restaurants. Service was a bit slow though restaurant seemed well staffed. Worth a try! read more

It was my go to Mexican place. Celebrated the fathers day with family and friends of 5ppl. The service charge was included and not acknowledged...not sure about their policy but I ended up double tipping... I have no problem with tipping/autograt... left them generous tips... simple courtesy to let your guests know when you drop off the check would have been appreciated. read more

As a native Texan who's pretty picky about Tex-Mex/Mexican food in the DMV, I can say this is definitely my favorite Mexican food spot in this area. The restaurant's interior is nice - good bar area, and also family friendly. I have been waiting for so long to go to this place and I finally did today! It's always super busy and they don't take reservations... a big bummer for me... Anyway, it wasn't what I expected at all. I was super excited thinking my favorite 2 cuisines in one was the best idea ever but now I don't think so. I didn't like this "fusion" or maybe I just didn't like the food. I don't know how to describe it but it's just not great. I feel like everything that's "Mexican" they make it Mexican by roasting it. Roasted peppers everywhere. Everything Indian= tiki masala and that's it. Not a lot to explore with different tastes in the Indian side. Their habanero salsa was HORRIBLE, probably the worst I've ever had and they charge $2...?! Mama Tigre A fairly new restaurant. A mixture of Mexican and Indian cuisine. I will say the flavor of the food is amazing. We started with Mama Tigre Tikka's wings. These are wings with tikka masala sauce. Wow, I ate all of the wings. Amazing seasoning and flavors. Loved them. We also had the traditional guacamole and chips. I had to have the Jalapeno Margarita. So good I had another. For the main course, we had the Pollo Poblano (strips of chicken breast, in a traditional mole. Topped with queso fresco and sesame seeds. Served with tortilla, basmati rice, and black beans. We had an order of Butter Chicken remixed (chargrilled boneless chicken, baby spinach, mushrooms, red peppers, and onion in a creamy poblano tikka sauce. Served with naan and basmati rice. For dessert we had churros. Everything delicious. They gave a huge menu selection (lots of things to try). There is a bar on one side and dining on the other. At times it can be loud. High ceilings and no wall are separating the two areas. Interesting decorations, very loud and fun. Service is spot on, folks are friendly and had some great suggestions as to what to order. A few hits, few misses and good drinks. Sat outside on a warm fall evening and much of the menu was forgotten but the unique twists in Mexican dishes were memorable. Service was solid with no hiccups, owner was greeting regulars and dishes were all different hitting tables. Since we were only a group of two, more of menu was unable to be explored yet but I intend to bring a group of solid eaters to try out this large menu. THEY NEVER FAIL....no matter how busy it is, to deliver great service with a smile, finger licking food and of course the ambiance is great. This is probably my sixth visit and we are always amazed that no matter when I walk in, the place is always clean, bathrooms are always well stocked and tidy( not the case in some good restaurants) and you see the entire staff is very engaged in whatever they are doing. And it was so good that I got the enchiladas in the same sauce. Our server was a nice younger guy. We didn't have alcohol but the drink menu also seemed great. OMG I loved this place. It's a fusion of Indian and Mexican food. The decor was unique but well done. We went around 7 PM and the place was PACKED! It took us around 30 minutes to get seated. There was a tiny waiting area where we all stood way too close to each other but no one left lol. It was totally worth the wait. Quality: Food was okay. The steak Fajitas tasted better than the chicken. Tortillas were oily. The shredded cheese seemed odd to me to come with Fajitas. It could have tasted better if they were going to include it. My friend got the chicken Tikka Fajitas but that erred more on the side of indian/pakistani than a cohesive fusion. That came with two mini naans which were also very oily. The Tikka wings could have been crisper. The sauce made it soggy. The mango habanero chutney was great, a perfect balance of hot and sweet. Service: Food came out at a reasonable time and we were seated right away despite it being busy. But our water jug was not refilled and they barely checked on us. We had to flag them down to get their attention. I had to ask multiple times for the same things and a few times I felt like I was being ignored. Nor did they take our dishes away while we ordered other items. We seemed to inconvenience them when we asked for separate checks, but luckily they did oblige. Atmosphere: The decor is beautiful with amazing wall art. Bathrooms are extremely clean. Overall: The concept is interesting, however, the food could have tasted better for how it looks. So this place recently opened, and the bar area is fantastic. The decor is loaded with cool images of Mexican art. We decided to go for a round of beef tacos, carnivore delight that really hit the spot. I was also impressed with Mama Tigre's authentic guacamole dip. It was the perfect compliment to their delicious tacos On a whim, we also ordered some jalapeño poppers. I have to admit that I had low expectations for this one. Expecting your typical frozen poppers that one finds in most bars, I was stunned to find that Mama Tigre's poppers made from scratch... yum! Amazing drinks ( loved tamarind one real spicy hits the notes ) Gorgeous decor / ambience -finally an authentic Mexican restaurant with indian twist in dishes and with great ambience. Chef actually came out took her time talking to everyone on the table and fun fact - chefs husband is artist of all those beautiful paintings / prints you'll see. Food: tons of REALly filling and delicious vegetarian options ( try cheese - paneer tacos - tell them to add tamraind chutney on top and get hot sauce ) - perfect ! This was our first putting since covid - and all I can say is - it was worth the wait to eat at such a nice restaurant with amazing food! I felt like they could've done more with flavoring the chicken, but everything else was yummy! Service was amazing, at first the server at the bar seemed a little shy, but he's provided the best service to me! Really creative menu and fantastic food. If you read the chef's background, the menu makes perfect sense. I carried out the masala enchiladas and the skillet chimichanga. Both were terrific but the enchiladas were memorable (the salsa was great too). I am looking forward to exploring more of the menu. My only request is that they let you order the tacos a la carte. There are so many that sound terrific but I don't want to commit to just one kind. Like the other reviews, the service is still a work in progress.
