My wife and I were traveling home from out west and were looking for something other than Tex-Mex. We've eaten breakfast here before on other trips, but never dinner. They have a wide selection and we zeroed in on the catfish dinner. It was the lightest tastiest catfish, hush puppies, and fried okra that we have eaten in a long time! Light dry batter ( not dripping in oil) along with crispy okra and mixed vegetables. The service was terrific, and we couldn't have asked for a better prepared meal. The dinner side salad was also quite large and fresh. We highly recommend this restaurant for dinner as well. read more

A family friend described Del Norte as a "locals" restaurant for Kerrville. Past visits (which there have been plenty) I've done the chain places by the interstate; had some good and not so bueno experiences with breakfast tacos..Time to eat like a local. Dining room was correctly spaced per state requirements during the pandemic. Masks were worn from entrance to table. Once seated we shared menus. Service was friendly; refills were prompt as was requests like salt and pepper. Salsa was excellent! I indulged in what I call the country boy combo. One breakfast taco on flour (sausage, egg, cheese) and one biscuit split with peppered gravy. GF and Rooster split the Del Norte Special. Boy got the pancakes with bacon; divided up the hashbrowns. Added ham and the eggs from the original plate. Grandma had two eggs, hashbrowns, crisp (what's wrong with her) bacon, and wheat toast. I love restaurants like this; can't speak for the rest of the cuisine during the day but breakfast warrants a healthy nod in the Yelp star rating. I am updating my review of del Norte. I went there last Wednesday for their lunch Mexican buffet.... still good! My friend had the fajitas and the menudo and really enjoyed. She also tried the chicken tortilla soup. We both had the guacamole and agreed that it was really good! I had the enchiladas as well. As usual, buffet tends to lose a little after it's cooled down. Enchiladas were very good, but because I waited mine were not hot! I think lunch cost @ $14.95 per person, but del Norte is one of my go to's when Im in Kerrville! P.S.. wait staff is always nice and accommodating! So shout out to them!!!!! read more

I cant believe I just now discovered this place. Had breakfast there this morning. We walked in and had no idea it was a buffet. It's all you can eat and drink is included. Buffet included fruit, cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, biscuits/gravy, refried beans, fried potatoes, pancakes, and even menudo! If you dont like scrambled eggs you can order like you want. Grits are included but not on the buffet, had to ask for them. We will definitely be going back. Kerrville doesn't have a huge option for buffets and one afternoon my family and I were pretty hungry and called to see what they were serving and the menu was very enticing. After immediately entering the building I had a moment of nostalgia of when I worked in healthcare at a nursing home. I couldn't bring myself to even sit down and eat. We had a great breakfast! Their were four of us. Eggs Benedict were delicious. The hollandaise sauce was great and uniquely theirs. Our friend loved the chorizo & eggs. My husband had a traditional breakfast with grits and loved it, too. A line had formed by the time we left. read more

It's been several years since I had the weekend breakfast buffet and as I was extra hungry this morning, off I went. This place can get crowded, so get there early. The buffet has no fancy offerings, just good, decently-prepared food. Scrambled eggs, bacon, pancakes and sausage are the mainstay but I gotta tell you, any place that offers refried beans and tortillas at breakfast is okay in my book. Despite the crowd, the service was very efficient and the waitstaff was friendly. Of note, their lunch buffets are very good, also; a different one every day; the best attended are the Wednesday Mexican buffet and on Thursday, ribs (big ones and tender!) and chicken fried steak with chicken and dumplings as a soup offering. Stopped by here today with my sister and her boyfriend. I wanted breakfast and they opted for the lunch buffet. Going to have to agree with other posters. I am in the my early 30s and I think we were about 40 years under the average age of the customers. Nothing wrong with that at all... I ordered the veggie omelet with bacon and an english muffin. It was served promptly and was delicious. Pretty basic but that's what that kind of breakfast is like. Coffee was basic but drinkable as well. My sister got several items from the buffet. Looked like mostly fried food. A-OK in that I would go here for breakfast again. Not groundbreaking, but nothing wrong with it either. read more

Del Norte was really cheap and the food was good. If you are looking for a breakfast with the same quality as a chain but for lower prices this is the place. The food was just as good as Denny's but it was even cheaper. The prices were awesome! My meal cost less than eight dollars. Denny's and IHOP charge more for the same quality or less. read more

This was my first time here and was with my wife and mother-in-law. The queso with ground beef was very tasty! My wife had a bacon cheese burger and was very impressed. I had the steak and enchilada plate. The steak was very tasty (skirt steak....could have had the ribeye and enchilada but it was 4 bucks more) and the enchiladas were very gooey! Love that! My mother-in-law had a mexican plate and was very pleased. The rice and beans were seasoned well (I don't agree with a previous poster about them being from a can....very obviously homemade when I had them). Saturday afternoon I was invited to go to the Del Norte Cafe in Kerrville. I had not been there for many years. I found it to be redecorated and I was really happy when my plate arrived. I ate here while visiting my fiance, who lives in Kerrville. We were looking for a quick Tex-Mex food on a weekday night, so we picked this place. It was a quiet night. I ordered a quesadilla plate with rice and beans, and my fiance ordered a large burrito plate with rice and beans. When our tortillas didn't come out with our food (to eat with my rice and beans), we waited a few minutes, thinking the waitress just had her hands full. They never came out, so after a while, I asked her, just to make sure, if tortillas came with our plates, since that's what it said on the menu. This must have rubbed her the wrong way, because she rudely asked if we wanted our tortillas. We said yes, and she brought them out. They weren't good. The food was mediocre at best (hard rice and not very good beans). During our meal my fiance and I looked at each other and decided that we wouldn't be back to eat at this restaurant in the future. read more

A group of us go there for breakfast and continue to go back because the food is very good, the service is outstanding (including a very quick turnaround on all orders), and the prices are reasonable.
