Went for a colleague's celebration. Upon walking in this place is really pretty with lots of faux grass and florals everywhere. Brunch was late--415-615, which was a 1st for me. During that two hour window you get bottomless mimosas and rum punch (they really do come around often, never allowing you to get to the bottom of your glass lol), and as many trips to the buffet as you like. The music was mostly Latin which was to be expected, but the DJ did mix in some R&B and Afro Beats, which I appreciated. The volume was pretty loud so you did have to raise your voice, or lean in to speak directly into someone's ear. But that didn't bother our table of 12, we were there to celebrate, so the vibes were cool. At about 6, we saw quite a few workers breaking down the buffet setup and then bringing in couches from the enclosed patio area. So someone at the table ordered hookah so that they wouldn't force us to leave at 615 as they are pretty strict with the 2 hour time limit. I tried: the cabbage salad-good white rice (before I saw the other rice option)-good rice and beans-really good stewed chicken-really good white fish-really good in flavor but condensation made it a lil soggy Others at the table had: stewed pork-good pancakes-good spaghetti-good crumb cake-good chocolate cake-good Apparently they very recently had dancers who would get everyone on the dance floor, but they were MIA yesterday, or they're not a thing anymore. Came here for a birthday celebration and it was a great time! I was actually surprised how much fun it ended up being! Walking into the restaurant the valet guy told us it was $10 so we had to move our car to a street spot which wasn't too far at all. Do have to mention that there is a dispensary right in front of this place so if you are turned off by the smell or the whole prospect, be forewarned. The brunch menu was buffet style, you could refill your plate as many times as you wanted. The food consisted mostly of Dominican food like "mofongo" they had shredded pork which was very good, they had "arroz con gandules" which is rice with pidgeon peas. As odd as it may sound they also had a station of pancakes too. They had Dominican style soups with tripe which I am not a fan of, but if that's your jam they had it. They came out with a sign for our friends birthday and a big "Dominican cake" which I don't know the difference between that an just regular cake. The filling was a different kind of jam I guess that was the difference. Overall the experience was fun and the music made the place super lively. If you are a dancer this place is for you! -Also must note the mimosas and Bellinis were constantly being refilled therefore our cups were never empty. In the end we were definitely drinking a lot more than we intended but I guess that's what makes this an "unlimited Mimosas" worth it. We celebrated a friend's birthday here on December 30th. Upon arrival, the valet parked my car which was a small price to pay ($10) for a peace of mind as you are likely to get towed. Upon entering the establishment I was welcome by a nice young lady at the front desk who may had been the manager (I did not catch her name) but she also had a table reversed for us. We initially hung out at the bar as we were waiting on the whole party to arrive before going to our table. We grabbed a few drinks and appetizers at the bar. Once we got to our table, we realized we need a bigger table as we had more heads than we initially anticipated however the lady again did not hesitate to get as a bigger table at all. Our server Ronaldo was also amazing, he made sure everything was on point. I tried their wings, their CHICHARRONES DE CERDO which is the fried pork belly, CHICHARRONES DE POLLO (fried chunks of chicken) and for my entree I had the CHURRASCO FRITES which is Grilled skirt steak w/chimichurri & demi-glaze, served with yuca fries however I substituted the yuca fries for white rice, red beans and some fried plantains. The steak was very well seasoned and flavored. Great atmosphere and people and amazing music. We ended up catching the rest of the game at the bar before leaving. Came here last Sunday for my cousin's birthday brunch, we were a group of six. We walked in, they took our temperature and walked us over to our table right away. The waitress came over and greeted us then disappeared for at least ten to fifteen minutes before following up with us again. Typically brunch is buffet style but with Covid it is sit down. There's a menu you scan once you walk in and you choose your drink, appetizer, entree, and dessert choices once you are seated. Drinks: the rum punch is always my go to. It's not super strong but carries a hidden kick which is great for daytime brunch. Expert tip: It can get a bit sweet so order a side of water so you can alternate when needed. Food: the food was really good, as usual. I ordered the avocado toast (not pictured) which brought three pieces and was light and delicious. For my entree I ordered the cuatro golpes which was also really good. For dessert I had the flan which was creamy and light. The perfect end to my meal. I would recommend all three of these items. Atmosphere: I have been here several times and it is never a disappointment. The vibes here are always good with a live DJ keeping the energy fun and upbeat the entire time. It's a great place to come out with your girls, friends, or your significant other to have a nice time out. Once the weather gets warmer they open the patio area which is a cute place to sit as well. Service: this is where they lost a star. We barely saw our waitress and we had to order napkins, drinks, and straws multiple times before ever receiving them. When the server came over to pour my drink they missed my cup twice and left a mess of ice and alcohol on the table and did not feel any urgency to bring napkins to clean it up which is unacceptable. Things happen, that's understandable, but when issues arise there should be a sense urgency to fix the problem to ensure the experience received by your customers is still a good one. Other than my service incident, I will be returning. If you are in the area give this place a try. Hopefully your service experience will be better than my last. read more

It was a girl's night and my friend picked this spot. When I arrived there was valet for $10 which I didn't want to do so I found street parking nearby. At the door they took IDs and temperatures. I liked the set up and how they kept it social distanced and it was Halloween decorated. They wouldn't seat us til at least 3/4 of our party arrived. We chose to sit outside and they had a pretty decent crowd. We were served by a really nice guy, I didn't get his name. They allowed us to do separate checks and gratuity was included. I didn't eat but I had a nice drink called jack punch and it felt like I was on the islands. The girls enjoyed their food and drinks but one of them had undercooked calamari so she had to send it back. The second batch wasn't seasoned enough so she has to add salt. I love coming here for brunch on Saturdays ($25) or Sundays ($30). Full buffet of typical Dominican food and unlimited mimosas & jack's punch. I haven't had an issue with this location in regard to the amount of times waiters come around for refills. The music is really loud so this is not a place for brunch and conversation. They also have hookah and an outside patio. I came here on a Tuesday for their specials. On Tuesdays they have $2 tacos (minimum order of 5 for the table), appetizer specials, $2 margaritas, and half-priced drinks until 8pm (I'm unsure of the start time). I went on a Saturday night to celebrate my daughter's birthday and went with a group of 13. The waitress was excellent and had help from several other servers to tend to the group. My family and i had reservations for 11 people on Sunday 2/18 to celebrate a birthday. The music was insanely Loud for a Sunday at 4pm. If it was Saturday evening and this was a dinner lounge i would understand. There should be some type of heads up when people make reservations that it's nightclub LOUD. They were busy, so if we never go back no big deal for them but i just want to warn anyone that is hoping to have a nice family dining experience, this ain't it. Also Valet runs a scare tactic to scam people to valet versus self parking. Upon entering the lot we found a spot and parked ourselves. There were no signs or reserved spots indicating a valet, we didn't even know they had one. When the valet saw my husband, he said the dispensary that shared the lot with the restaurant would have the car towed for being a restaurant patron and self parking (taking space from dispensary patrons). My husband went to ask the dispensary and was told no towing would be happening and to enjoy his evening. Food was ok, not horrible but also not great. Be warned, go elsewhere. read more

Waited 25 minutes and no one came to even say hello, offer water, or attempt to serve us. Despite two attempts to ask two servers to get a server to our table they all looked around at each other and pointed at our table and didn't come over. On top of all of this, they sat us next to the DJ's loud music where we couldn't even hear each other speak. Never again. I went to Mamajuana for the first time on Mother's Day. I arrived there early, about 1130. They open at 12 noon. As I waited in my car, a parking valet attendant arrived and started placing cones in the vacant parking spaces. I thought this was interesting that they were blocking spaces for people to park. However, I realized that the parking is not free if you don't get there early enough. This was a bit of a turn off but comical as well. This was a brunch and they had a very nice assortment of food and endless mimosas and rum punch. The food was hot and it was tasty in the pastries and desserts were also very good. Review based on Sunday Brunch..... I've been to the Mamajuana in Woodbridge and had a horrible experience. When I was invited to brunch at this location, I was a little stand off-ish. BUT, I was surprised! I had an amazing experience! The selection of food was out of this world. They had so many options to choose from , from American breakfast to traditional Dominican breakfast. The DJ played great music for the entire duration! The only downfall is the parking. They offer valet parking but the lot is tiny. DO NOT park by the McDonald's because they will tow your car. However my experience at this Paterson location was horrendous. I was meeting up with a friend for her birthday brunch and she was told not to make a reservation because there would be plenty seating. Yet , she was told to sit at the bar as there were no tables and the locations policy is that you're not allowed to eat at the bar. Once I arrived , I noticed our group was sitting in the most awkward spot in the restaurant. Near the entrance with all of the traffic with two small round tables ( for 5 guest ) myself included !!! The most frustrating part about this experience was that I had to wait 35 minutes just to get a chair to sit with my friends. I came here for a brunch. The food was amazing ! Their plantains were exactly the way I like them, super sweet, soft and they melt in your mouth. The food was well seasoned and overall just amazing. The atmosphere is good too, the DJ played a variety of music and really had everyone enjoying themselves. The only thing I really didn't like is that they stopped passing the punch and mimosas like 15 minutes before our brunch came to an end. I also feel like although the DJ is amazing ! Some of the reviews are a bit harsh however this was not a perfect visit either. The surrounding area doesn't match the restaurant especially when you are inside. Very spacious with bar and outdoor seating which makes for a great setting. The waitstaff are all very nice too. The appetizer we got was chicharones De pollo. Chicken with a lemon flavoring and 2 sauces. One of the sauces was great the other was just ok but the best part was it was plentiful in the amount we got, not too frequent with appetizers. The food took a bit long to come out. I got the Puerquito which I now know is meant for 2 people on its own. It was a roast pork entree which was very tasty but a bit dry and no kind of sauce to go with it was just a hunk of pork with some seasoning on top. So that's passable but boring. Why not ask for sauce you ask? Well it appeared our waiter was the only one serving maybe 4 or more other tables so we pretty much never saw him again. The salmon I tasted was ok and the drinks were not bad but nothing made me leap from my chair either.
