We came here to see a band perform that we love! They were definitely a big get for such a small venue, and I'm not surprised that the show sold out. Overall - Stone & Rail is SUCH a cool place to see a live show, especially a band that's considered 'big' for this type of venue. It's cozy and intimate, and you have an amazing view of the stage from wherever you post up. They also have multiple bars, so it's not hard to get a drink. Unfortunately there were a few disappointing things about this experience. Tickets were $50 bucks (pretty steep for a small place) and the band was advertised to play from 8-10 and only played from 8-9. Food and drink prices were also extremely steep, like $20+ for an order of flatbread, wings, and really any other app. It's a great spot and even an hours worth of music was fun and worthwhile, but I do just wish prices were a bit more fair. read more

I came here for a drink and apps with a friend. I've been here before but it's been a while. The place has great decor and nicely decorated with a rustic feel. They have a lot of beers on tap and cocktails. The cocktail I had was delicious. One of the best I've had in a while. They had a happy hour so we ordered some food. Loaded potato skins were great they were twice baked. They were very filling. Waitress was friendly and helpful. There is a large parking lot in the back which is helpful in a busy town. I came here for Mothers Day & I cannot express such a terrible experience. I came with my family for what was supposed to be a great Mothers Day for me and my mother. We waited almost 3 hours for food. They took forever to bring us water. When the food eventually came out it seemed effortless and rushed and bland. Whether it be because they were short staffed or not there is no excuse for such a negative experience. If the restaurant was not prepared for so many guest they should have stopped the limit of guests coming in to avoid disappointing customers. It seems this place only cares about making money by grifting people of their hard earnings and valuable time. Not only do we feel we wasted our money but also our time & everyones time is valuable. We feel bamboozled and I thought the least I can do is get on here to express my personal experience to save your time. Dine else where... its modern and nicely decorated but that means nothing if they don't have a proper routine set and guidelines set in place to honor customers hard work and earnings. Came here on a week night for some food and drinks with friends. I have never been here before and i was super surprised how nice this place is. It is super modern with some really awesome decorations and a beautiful bar. Food: We all ordered a variety of different things including the wings which they had a special on that night. They were very good and well worth the cheap price. I love that they offered both sauces and dry rubs for the wings. They had a solid beer selection with a few decent choices of craft beer aside from your regulars. I also like that many were from local breweries. Service: Our waitress was very nice, made some good recommendations and got our food out super quick which was great. We all just found it odd that she didn't know how to answer many of our questions and did not know serving sizes for some dishes (ex. how many meatballs are on a dish, what desserts were available). We all joked it was just another customer serving us. Really it wasn't a big deal at all and she was very nice and we had no complaints. I live close by and come here often for a drink or snack when I have someone visiting. They have a good beer selection and always interesting variety of options on tap. Usually I'm just stopping in for a drink and appetizer and the appetizers are generally good. My cousin and I always get fried pickles and a pretzel. Other than that, I usually get one of their specials as I've always liked them well enough. The food isn't anything in special but I think they're one of the better places in town for a drink and a quick bite. They have live music nights and things like that which I don't enjoy at all and my heart always drops when they begin when I'm already there eating. I found this place when looking for a new brunch spot and was so happy I came across it! I rarely find myself in Glen Rock but will definitely be coming back for this place. It's located in a shopping center, but don't be thrown off- the interior is very trendy! My friends and I each had a mimosa flight and loved them! Ordered from Doordash. The food was well packed in high-end heavyweight plastic containers with tight lids. Ordered 4 different items, none of which was remarkable enough to order again. When I order from restaurants, I would like at least one item to taste better or be more special than what I could prepare by myself at home, if I felt like cooking. Roasted pear salad -- all ingredients were fresh. Roasted pear was spiced and tasty but was a mushy texture that reminded me too much of canned pears. I ate all the pear (half a pear?), the walnuts, the small amount of goat cheese and the 2 tiny orange sections and some of the crisp greens; I enjoyed the dressing, and I discarded mountains of frisee. Too much frisee; not enough "junk." Hot pretzel -- tasty; did not come with any sauce; did not look pretty like in the photos I saw online. Too big for one person; must share with a group. Roasted red bliss potatoes -- somewhat dry, and this is coming from someone who likes their food dry as opposed to rich. Boring. Needs herbs or sauce (tsatsiki?) or something. Does the chef have no imagination? Strawberry cheesecake roll -- too sweet, and this is coming from someone with a sweet tooth. No trace of cheesecake. I discarded the entire outside of this dessert, which resembled hardened white buttercream frosting. I ate the entire inside of the roll, which consisted of yellow cake, what resembled butter, and what resembled jelly. The interior of the roll was delicious but very sweet; maybe the entire thing is delicious if you eat the whole thing. This was my second time at Stone and Rail. Although I really enjoyed the atmosphere, as well as the location itself; the first time I would say that I was definitely underwhelmed with my meal.. and in short, I knew that I would not return for steak here again... So, when my friend suggested that we come here for lunch, I wasn't even familiar with the name until we pulled up... and open-mindedly gave it another shot. I'm so glad that I did! I did see gluten-free options clearly marked on the menu, but as I was not sure if gluten-free buns were available, I decided to ask. And they were! I'm not sure where they source their bread from, but it was definitely one of the better gluten-free buns I've had. Once I knew that that was an option, I decided on the bacon blue burger, and was very happy with my decision. Being cooked to a nice medium rare, the patty itself had flavor, which is not something that I find often. The toppings were fresh, and the shoestring fries were a good accompaniment. If you want a nice dinner with conversation, do not go to Stone & Rail on a Friday night. My husband & I decided to try someplace new when another eatery down the block was too crowded. The first thing we encountered was a roadblock of golf bags blocking the front door. After entering, we noted that in addition to a solo singer with a guitar playing rather loud music, there were at least 30-40 golfers hanging around between the bar and the tables shouting over the music. Not AT the bar or AT the tables, but blocking up all the open space in between. This should have been a red flag to leave, but we decided to give it a try. The food was overpriced for the quality. We ordered the frickles (deep fried pickles) as an appetizer. They were pretty good. Both my husband & I ordered the NY strip steak. While the steak was good, the potato "frittes" that come with the steak were extremely greasy. We couldn't hear each other over all the noise even though we were only 3 feet apart. 2 drinks, 1 appetizer, 2 steaks, $147 before tip. One positive, the service was great. They have so many local brews to try and explore if you are from out of town. Service is exceptional as they create a wonderful experience for their guests. There is a separate place for larger groups in the back which I can see being used around holiday season mainly or special occasions. The egg breakfast was good, especially the thick sourdough bread and the fact they you got two sausage links and a nice helping of bacon; the potatoes were a bit underdone. The breakfast tacos were tasty but the taco shell kept falling apart once you lifted it from the plate; while the dish cohesion could have been a little better, I still liked it. I wanted to give it one more star but I just couldn't. Let me start with the food.... Delicious! We had a quinoa salad, artichoke dip and Impossible burgers. Everything was great not one complaint about the food. Here's where it goes wrong. We called ahead and it was loud but we figured well it's a Sunday during football season. It's going to be loud with a lot of people in the bar and the TV is on but nothing prepared us for what we encountered. We should've been told on the phone exactly what we are walking into. Apparently there's a big following for the.Bills football team, which I never would've guessed in this area, but whatever they apparently now every Sunday or meet here, and when I tell you, the music was so loud that it was making me nauseous. It was distorted and you could not speak to each other at the table. I kept asking the one waitress how much longer it was going to be like that and she kept saying oh another minute left in the game. We sat there for 20 minutes of that. How are you supposed to enjoy your food with all that going on? I'm not saying I'll never come back here because I really did like the food, but never on a Sunday again that was a nightmare and all I kept thinking was what if someone has an autistic child they could never sit through dinner there read more

Prices are OK for this section of Bergen County ( so no bargain) Big enough menu with a decent sized craft beer & cocktail selection. But the Apps menu is a cliche' of every other gastro-pub out there ( same old stuff) Grilled octopus, big pretzel, Pimento cheese dip, crab or artichoke dip, pickle chips. OMG ! Only one I saw that was a little diff was the THAI PORK SKILLET. THE FOOD We shared some apps TUNA POKE ( a newer of the common apps)--which is a great dish I have had before elsewhere. This version had Red Onion, Grilled Scallion, Crispy Rice Chip, Ginger, Grilled Pineapple. It was very good, but small & simple. BONELESS WINGS with BBQ sauce. Decent size order ( chicken tenders?) They had burger, sandwich, and taco menu as well as a small entree menu For my main course I had the namesake burger : the Stone & Rail Burger with Muenster Cheese, Bacon Onion Jam, Truffle Fries. It was (yup) " good", that's it. But can we move on from the onion jam; been seeing this nationally for years. There is also a brunch menu. I like S&R, but if they are ever going to truly go from good to great is to break out of this stale old menu. Chef needs to add a few more creative dishes to stand out. I called in the afternoon to confirm that the shuffleboard table would be open to the public and the person who answered confirmed that there were no parties scheduled for this Weekend. My wife and I and another couple made the long drive to play shuffleboard and grab dinner. When we arrived and asked about going upstairs to the game room, we were told that it was closed for a private party. No big deal, if I hadn't called and specifically asked if it was available. Still, not the end of the world. We sat down around 7:00 pm. Service was good. Food was good. LaBatt's Blue on tap is always a good thing. But here's where they failed in my opinion. I wanted to look at the table to see if it was a long or short one and to see what kind of shape it was in. When I asked to just take a quick peak at it, they told me that I would have to wait until the party ended at 10 pm. The party was clearly a very casual affair. I can't imagine that the hosts would have objected, but the manager didn't even ask them. I was hoping to rent the space for a party myself, but you can be sure that will not happen as this was my one and only visit to the Stone & Rail. Too bad, because except for some poor judgement by the staff this could have become a regular place to visit with our friends & family. read more

This review is to recount a recent experience with an individual at Stone and Rail who has soured a long standing relationship. Our contact "Kaz", who claimed throughout the night he was the manager/bar back/owner (if it sounds confusing: it was), changed our pre-booked party room without notice. We were upset at the change and voiced our frustration. He agreed to give us a discount for the inconvenience, which we were fine with and considered the matter settled. When we went to settle the bill, he refused to honor his statement from earlier in the evening and claimed he never said he offered a discount (although multiple witnesses heard). This is just the tip of the ice berg around his lack of professionalism. It is unclear to Kaz's exact role as this establishment. Whatever it is, by no means did he display any measure of customer service. It was a horrendous experience and we, as well as all of our guests, will never be back. read more

Mothers Day and I know it's tough to engineer a big crowd coming in all at once. With that said, one of my pet peeves is food not coming out at once. 5 were nearly done while 2 didn't get. Ok. Moving on. Soup was good and hot (onion and a tomato bisque), but bother orders of Eggs Benedict were weak (seemed watery) and one was left untouched (didn't like at all). The Panzanella salad was over dressed but the dressing was good. 2 grilled chicken sandwiches were just fair. Appy included potato skins which was ok. Caesar Salad was a healthy portion and well chickened.... Complimentary Champagne. Eh &10$ each for a couple of mimosas. I would actually be game to give it another try though. We were a little disappointed to find out that there were no food specials. Our disappointment disappeared when we received our pork poutine and mussels & clam Fra Diavolo. These apps are the perfect size for 2 people. Super hot and delicious. We sat at the bar and it was pretty empty, but it's the Wednesday before Christmas. My partner and I came for Sunday brunch with our parents. Lucky enough to have the first reservation of the day. We arrived shortly before our reservation and were seated promptly. It was a little awkward to be seated in a booth in the dark, back corner of the restaurant, especially being the first ones at the restaurant. Brunch menu is quite small compared to the regular menu, but there are a bunch of options (savory, sweet, large, small) for any kind of brunch lover. The menu color scheme is a little distracting and folks with poor eye sight might have a tough time with the brown/black grain menu pattern with black text, especially in the dark corner. Drink menus are accessible from QR codes, but successfully accessing them is 50/50 depending if you're on WiFi. We started off with build-your-own bloody marys. Our server mixed up the drink toppings but was able to rectify that with a plate of the correct toppings. Also, we only got 1 pitcher of water for the 6 of us so a little bit of work needed on table service. We ordered the chicken and waffles, eggs benedict, breakfast tostadas, and the breakfast sampler (colloquially renamed as "yo momma's morning breakfast"). Chicken and waffles were probably the best, especially paired with real maple syrup. Eggs benedict and breakfast sampler were straightforward and no-frills breakfast classics. Tostadas were a little bland and needed some hot sauce. Would definitely come back for brunch again, maybe with a smaller party. For those interested, S&R appeared to be hosting a bridal/wedding shower of some sort in the private back room so they are equipped for even larger events. S&R also has a sizeable back patio for outdoor seating, with half covered by a tent. Restaurant was getting busy as we were leaving so weekend brunch reservations are suggested. read more

Absolutely loved this place. My partner and I came here on Easter (as we are not particularly religious) for a beer and to unwind after a long hike. The place was nearly empty, and our waitress (I didn't catch her name) treated us like we were the most important customers we ever had. We both started with flights. Our waitress asked if she could help us with picking beers, so we told her our preferences and she crafted individual beer flights for us -- she was spot on. We loved them. We also ordered the soft pretzel on the menu and were surprised to see that it was more of a pretzel roll... but it was absolutely delicious. We split the veggie flatbread for dinner, and it was very yummy. We had leftovers for lunch the next day, and they held well. However, after the 30 minutes the hostesses said they had to bump up the wait time and couldn't give a time or even an estimated wait time because online reservations take priority. My friend went online while we were still waiting for a table, and the next available seating for 4 was in 15 minutes.. The hostess obviously lied and/or do not know how to do her job correctly. We made an online reservation WHILE we were there, and when it was time for our online reservation, the hostess said she was about to call to say the table won't be ready for another 40 minutes! What restaurant has EVER called a customer say your dinner reservations have been CHANGED TO A LATER TIME?!!! Very unorganized and dishonest place of business. I went here for late brunch with my in-laws and my husband. The place is really stunning. They have a very progressive vibe/environment with high ceilings, a second floor balcony-like area with games, and even a private parties space (also beautiful). The decor is modern, eclectic with a cozy vibe of classic. There are straight lines, steel 'rails,' and wood everywhere; truly a calm color pallet with an edge of glamour design (found in their chandeliers in the private event space). Truly a masterpiece of design with several TVs at the bar but still a high-end, clean, and open feel. The place did seem a little quiet for a Sunday brunch-lunch, but they could of had an off day. We were the only ones seated at a regular table and a few scattered customers at the bar. A private party was, however, in the private event space. The food was actually particularly delicious. Made well, with a lot of flavor. I went for the Shrimp n' Grits (NAUGHTY!) I didn't regret once second of it. Very yummy. I'm a fan of the unique menu items. They have a good amount of menu options to choose from, but at the same time you won't get lost with pages of options. Their bloody-Mary was DELICIOUS and a meal within itself (check out my picture of this loaded-up baby!) I do wish they had a brunch drink special option, seems like something that could attract more business between 11-3pm on weekends. The waitress was very sweet and attentive. That being said, my group of friends and I had a reservation- I would recommend getting reservations for a weekend as it was pretty busy when we came in. I ordered the brunch flight which came with four tasters; the Bellini was probably the best drink out of the four- the others included a mimosa, white and red sangria. I ordered the breakfast tacos- it tasted OK- needed a little more pepper or salt so we asked for a side of siracha hot sauce. Even with the hot sauce, it lacked taste but the chicken and waffles were bomb- I would recommend the sweet and savory dish from the menu. When we arrived, we were told there would be a 20 minute wait for a table, so we sat at the bar. The service at the bar was painfully slow, it took about 30 minutes to get drinks and never were able to order anything else despite sitting there for an hour (which was how long it ended up taking to get the table). The drinks are pretty basic, nothing special, which is unfortunate since this is one of the only places in Glen Rock with a bar. The food is also pretty average.
