During my Google search I discover My Story Cafe through an article about the owners journey. Being a Caribbean girl myself, I had to go support this Trinidadian, Black, Woman owned business. So I decided I'd use my morning walk which ended up being about 3/4 of a mile to walk to My Story from my hotel. Thankfully it was a nice walk as it wasn't too hot while I was there. My first two days I ordered the an iced French toast latte. The third day I ordered the iced Vietnamese coffee as Ms Jacqueline's recommendation. I was skeptical as I've previously had Vietnamese iced coffees that were overly sweet but hers was velvety, smooth, and balanced. I understood the hype but I info recommend the French toast latte as well! Ms Jacqueline and I connected over those three days, we shared laughs, talked community and our beloved islands as well as all things food! I got to see first hand her connection with locals, the way she builds community and works hard as just one person running the show. We're family now, and anytime I'm Back in Charlotte my first stop will be to go visit my new auntie! Be patient, she gets busy. But the coffee and conversation is worth it. There's a small, free parking lot located in front of the building, but this area is pretty walkable for a handful of apartment complexes and nearby neighborhoods. It's also super close to the Little Sugar Creek Greenway, if you want to walk and enjoy your coffee! Something I particularly like about daily ritual coffee is their service. The husband and wife duo, Jacob and Amor, are so friendly and knowledgeable about their coffee. They also make the space so warm and welcoming, hence why I keep coming back. I especially enjoy the secret menu weekends they've been introducing on Instagram. They even find ways to bring exposure to and partner with Krumb Bakery (the business they share a space with), which I think is so thoughtful and inclusive. So far, my husband and I have tried their Biscoff iced latte and Reese's Puffs iced latte from the secret menu. Amor, if you're reading this -- the Reese's Puffs deserves a spot on the permanent menu! The coffee paired with their specialty foams creates such interesting flavor combinations.
