Waterbean Coffee I stopped in for an iced latte with cold oat milk and condensed milk and wow, it was so good! The mix of creamy oat milk with that touch of sweetness is absolutely perfect. You can really taste the quality of their espresso, smooth and rich without any bitterness. The drink was balanced, refreshing, and honestly kind of addictive. Really cute space...very cozy and delightful. The serve decent espresso too. But seriously...the employees could not possibly care less about their customers. Three people behind the bar and everyone was too tragically cool to be bothered to take an order. It was something out of a movie. Overall a good spot! Always order a cortado at coffee shops I've never been to so I can get a good taste of the espresso and feel out the milk texture, both were good here! Inside is a nice quiet vibe with light music in the back, a good place to work/ study from. Only reason I gave 4 stars is because while the service was quick it was super surface level and didn't feel like the baristas were really paying attention to me more of just chatting with each other. First of all: I am in love with the interior! If I were still in finals mode, I would definitely be here studying the day away. It was not too crowded on the Friday morning we attended. The thing I wasn't so in love with was my drink. I ordered something along the lines of an iced matcha and I was surprised that it was almost grainy in my mouth. It was almost like I could chew the matcha if I tried, which I have not ever experienced before. It definitely had more of a healthy taste to it, so I'm not sure if that was the vibe it was going for. Just like the other Waterbean in Uptown, it's clean and staff is very friendly. I like that they offer non-coffee drinks. They also offer pastries and baked goods that are delicious. They also have a small order window outside that you can use if you don't want to go inside. There is plenty of seating to hang out and work. read more

Their blueberry muffin tasted home made (not super sweet which is what I prefer) and the nova lox was decent-lots of smoked salmon (only preference would have been nice if they asked if I wanted my bagel toasted-but no biggie). I do like that they offer real ceramic cups if you choose to stay in - but if they don't feel like washing them, you can expect a papercup regardless. Their oat lattes were really good! The coffee is not acidic and has a smooth finish. Brownies were also good and the wrapping helped it last longer! Reason for a 4/5 and not 5/5 - My friend got the peanut butter drink and felt that the flavor could be much stronger. He remarked it tasted like a watered down drink. :( read more

My review is based SOLELY on the uptown location. I absolutely love love love Waterbean Coffee...so much that I've visited the Metropolitan location so many times. I live in uptown, and go to the Metro location...kind odd don't ya think? Well, anyways, I visited the uptown location for the first time ever last week on a random week day. I normally get iced coffee, but because it was so cold outside, I figured why not get a warm coffee drink this time. The place was so homey, and I really loved the location. There was only 1 barista working that day, and she made my drink really quickly (Regular White Mocha Latte). The latte was delicious, but I could barely taste the White Mocha flavoring. I didn't give it much thought, just figured this is what the hot lattes taste like. Fast forward to a few days ago, on Saturday morning, I wanted to get my iced white mocha latte like I always do at the Metro location, but was running out of time and decided to go to the uptown location. There were 2 baristas this time, which would make sense considering it is probably busier on weekends. I had ordered my regular iced white mocha latte, and about a few mins later, one of the baristas calls out the order but it was a hot latte. Not an issue, I told him I had ordered an iced, and he fixed it right away. After my iced latte finally came out, I had noticed two things. There was SO MUCH ICE & again I could barely taste the flavor. What I love about the Metro location, is that they put less ice & the flavor is blended in with the coffee that even if the ice waters down the coffee, you can still taste the flavor after being watered down. I was very disappointed TBH, but again, that doesn't change my opinion of Waterbean. I will just avoid the uptown location for my coffee. Still recommend Waterbean in general though & get an iced white mocha latte from the Metro location! It does not disappoint!! read more

Me and my bf were walking around downtown CLT and decided that we should grab some refreshments and this placed looked reassuring on the outside and inside so we were like why not? I decided to order an iced matcha latte with oat milk and vanilla syrup and my bf got an iced coffee. When I first took a sip of my matcha it tasted really grainy and was just thick to swallow. My bf iced coffee tasted watered down no matter how much he tried adding creamer and sweetness for some flavor. The lids used on the drinks were terrible and kept leaking and whenever we tried sipping our drinks it would just spill all over our clothes. We just got severely disappointed and over it we tossed out our drinks that were almost $20. NOT WORTH IT. read more
