Bacon was perfect. Sausage patties very good. Chicken Fred steak was good, not best I've had but fine. Pies looked awesome and were recommended by table next to us but we just did not have room! I had only gone to the original location on Irving Blvd. when I first moved to Dallas and it was great. I have been there quite a bit after my first visit to Irving Blvd. A place like this sticks out because you're going to get great food and terrific service. OK, so when they opened in Forney I was excited, but could they replicate the food? Its tough for most places to stay consistent when it comes to the food. However, it appears that MDD has created a flawless business model, the Forney location was spot on. The food tasted just as it had at the Irving Blvd. location and I was more than happy with that. Service: The waitress was very nice and attentive. Our drinks were delivered quickly and our orders taken in a very timely manner. Bread: Now to one of the best parts of the MDD experience, the bread. They bring you a basket of bread for the table: 2 cornbread muffins and 2 rolls. ALL made from scratch and warm...they are to die for. My Entree: Chicken Fried Chicken, double mashed potatoes (with gravy) and coleslaw. Review: The chicken was tender and juicy and cooked perfectly. The coating was great and the gravy complimented the overall dish. The mashed potatoes were great as well. I like a place when they don't add extra salt and the mashed potatoes were spot on delicious. The coleslaw was a great light addition with just enough flavor to compliment the meal. One of the best coleslaws I've ever had. Overall: MDD hands down slays the competition in Southern Home Cooking. For a small home town cafe. This place was very good. Friendly waitstaff, fast service, and food was great. Lots on the menu to choose from. Daily specials with a large selection of sides, you will be able to find something on the menu here to suit ur cravings. I can recommend the club sandwich and hubby loved the chicken fried chicken. He got Mac and cheese, corn, and mashed potatoes as his sides. Both Mac and corn were great but he mentioned the potatoes were a little to runny. Nothing really special...family and I came here for breakfast yesterday and the food was bland. Seasoning can go a long way and having none on the hash browns and eggs really made for a plain meal. We'll go here again and try dinner and dessert but so far the results were underwhelming. Service wise the place looked to do just fine and many servers were interacting with their table and constantly checking on them. Unfortunately for us once our food was dropped off we wouldn't see our server again until the check was dropped off. I was given the incorrect drink (which in itself is no big deal) and would've just asked to have it switched out except we weren't once checked on. Again I always give places a a second try unless you're just plainly dirty haha. For now the review will remain below average until next visit read more

Why give it less than a five star? Food has always been good and service is always good as well. We've been here a few times and it seems to get better every time we go. To be honest I wasn't really impressed the first time we went but I was craving a burger and that's what I ordered. It wasn't the worst burger I'd ever had but I would have preferred DQ.... Just because I wanted that nice a greesy burger. Anyways, the second and third time we went we had breakfast and it was good. The ham and cheese omelette is pretty awesome, and the waffles are pretty darn good too. To make it even better this place is about 5 minutes away from where we live so that just makes it a whole lot better! Definitely a fan, and it's in downtown Forney which is a nice little place to visit. I don't think you can go wrong coming here. Definitely beats any other breakfast place out there... Our food was awful. Definitely premade. It was like cafeteria food. There are much better home cooking spots. Service was meh. She was nice enough while taking our order but never checked back to see how we liked our food. Forgot a few items and didn't receive til the very end when she decided to come back around. Went here for Sunday breakfast. It was packed, as expected. The food was amazing, and so amazing, I didn't have any left overs. Our server was the only thing that could've made it a better experience. Because it was busy, our waiter forgot refills, complementary biscuits/rolls. This place is legitimately delicious! It's an old school, small town diner with the menu and friendly service to match. Fun decorum with home-style cooking that is a tasteful nod to simpler times. Service was fast and friendly and the food fresh and yummy! The menu prices aren't cheap but are very fair for the quality of the experience. Breakfast is served all day and the daily special is not one, several classic options, from fried chicken to catfish to sausage and kraut. Burgers, sandwiches, chili and stew too! And did I mention PIE?! Come here as quickly as you can and bring friends, family or a book. But come hungry. It's worth a drive. read more

I've been to diners all across Texas and this is the REAL DEAL. It's like a time capsule, and they've been making their own pies, biscuits and cobblers from scratch along with all of their other food for 55 years!! The staff is so friendly, the food AMAZING, and the prices are great. I love how the wall has placards with phrases moms normally use! They had a bar you could sit at which was really cute, and their coffee was great. I had eggs over easy with hash-browns and sausage and it was all great, and the biscuits were PERFECT. I'd have to say they were lovely. Perfect fluffiness and buttery. The gravy was great as well. They have a nice selection of hot sauces. My husband had the chicken fried steak and said it was delightful, nice texture, good crunch, and the meat was cooked perfectly. The scrambled eggs and gravy could have a little more salt and pepper, but I think it's a great idea because some people have dietary needs and it's easy to add them, and they're readily available on the table. We were delighted, and wondered why we waited so long to try it! We won't be going to Lindys anymore. That's how good this place is. I can't wait to try a homemade pie!! I stopped for breakfast and it was wonderful! The best part was Nancy my server! She was phenomenal! My drink never got below half though the restaurant was packed. I would come back if the food was mediocre for the serrvice. But the food was excellent as well. I had a special with two pancakes. The bacon is not the thin dull stuff like some other places. It was thick and delicious. The pancakes were very good. The eggs were hot. If you need a good place for breakfast, this is it. Keep in mind, it will be busy. But well worth it. read more

These are some great people. I first met the group when they had a place in Mesquite. I was as excited as could be when I heard they got this one going in Forney. I take friends here day or night. We just cannot stay off the back roads so late last week we headed for Forney, Texas to see if we could find a place to eat. Went to the old downtown and there was Mama's Daughter's Diner. Had to be good because the place was surrounded by pick up trucks, many with gun racks and a place for a dog. Went inside and thought we were going to a gathering of the whole town. The place was packed, however Mama's Daughter met us and found us a table for two.Ordered the eggs and bacon and this is what we got. Two perfectly cooked eggs, 4 thick strips of great bacon, two biscuits and a bowl of gravy. The other plate had a stack of pancakes in lieu of the biscuits and gravy. All of this for less than $5.50. What a deal and the food was excellent. The restaurant was very noisy as everyone seemed to know one another and wanted to chat. read more

We have eaten here 3 times (we kept hoping for the best because we like to support small town). The food is good & prices are reasonable. The service could use some improving. My husband likes to have friendly service while I, on the other hand, only want my drink to be refilled. Servers were not happy to be there & I got no refills, hence only 3 stars. We eat breakfast here at least once a week. Solid homestyle diner food. Service is solid. In more visits than I can count, I don't really recall a bad experience. The only downside there used to be the noise level. When it was packed, it could almost hurt your ears. They have since added some acoustic tile to the walls which actually seems to help a lot. It is still noisy, but in a "high energy / busy" sort of way. Food choices are typical for a diner. Lot's of home cooking and comfort food. I think we have had just about everything on the breakfast menu at one time or another and have not been disappointed. I've only been there a couple of times for lunch or dinner but those experiences were good as well. read more
