I love Mediterranean food. This is more of a fast food restaurant where you place your order at the counter and take it to your table when it's ready. Even though it is fast food type dining it's still quite good. I really like there garlic sauce and add it to pretty much everything I eat there. I am appalled be the lack of service today for lunch! I have been in many times & the food is always and the service! But today, the one who took my order was rude ! The falafel salad was ridiculous with spice! I took one bite and brought it back up to the employee and he would not change my order! He said I will just give your money back. I asked him for just a plain salad and humus & he would not take my order! I just went back to teaching today & was so hungry! I will never come back & I use to be a regular customer. My wife and I are weekly regulars. Their food is outstanding and service is always great. We think the prices are more than fair because the food is so darn good. This place was terrible. The chicken wasn't even cooked all the way on 3 of our plates. The filet pieces tasted like the lamb pieces. The rice was sour. It was gross, gross, gross. I've been enjoying the excellent cuisine at Mama's Hummus for a few years now...in the past year at the Camarillo location...I'm a regular customer--2x per week--top notch middle eastern food...by far the BEST in the area. My favorites...baba ganoush (fresh eggplant, smoky flavor, perfect amount of garlic), hummus,chicken shawerma, all of the kabobs (I have chicken kabob and kafta beef most often), kibeh, and always freshly baked desserts. Naji, the owner, is extremely customer focused...he was very accommodating in catering my holiday party for 40 pple...everyone was raving about the food. I just noticed a recent review of a customer who claims to have gotten sick here...all that I can say is...I've eaten here ~100 times and never had an issue! Here now and the girl at the front counter was very helpful and nice! I let her know what I was trying to look for and she was attentive. I've never been a big Mediterranean food fan, however I've tried Sam's Fire Grill and it had me hooked! So I'm giving this a try! Camarillo's vegan options are lacking. Luckily, my boyfriend and I stumbled upon Mama's Hummus tonight. Kate was extremely helpful in telling us our options, and was patient with us. We tried the hummus with pita bread, dolmas, a falafel wrap, and spicy garlic fries. The hummus was the best I've had, the pita was warm, the dolmas were fantastic, and if I had to choose one item to have again, it would be the falafel wrap. It was well-balanced, the texture was lovely, and the flavor a were spot-on. Make sure to add the onions! My boyfriend loves the spicy garlic fries, but they were a little strong for my taste. Stopped by to pick up a Jamba Juice on the way home and saw that Mama's is finally opened! Ordered two meal plates (chicken and lamb) to-go and was not disappointed in the food. The hummus was great! Very smooth and tasty. The chicken and lamb were cooked well and not too strong in flavor. The rice was good and salad was fresh. In fact, the chicken and rice was soft enough for my two year old daughter to eat. The surprise had to be how hot and spicy the peppers were. One bite with the seeds was enough to make me sweat (or it could have been the near 90 degree heat in Camarillo). The price was a little on the higher side, but the quality and quantity of food is worth every cent. The service was pretty quick considering they they probably prepare all their meals from scratch. It's in a nice location, conveniently located next to the Roxy Theaters and parking is very easy. I'll return and hopefully try their other menu items. This restaurant is a great addition to the area and gives us another nice dining and take-out option near our home. read more
