    Cleopatra Wrap
    Aya R.

Dining method: Catering Item(s) ordered: I ate the Cleopatra wrap, but we ordered several others. The review: The cleopatra wrap was brimming with tabouli (tabbouleh?) and flavor. For a vegan option, it proved very filling and flavorful. That being said, the falafel was very dry and, in the middle of a work meeting, that might not be the best to have in your throat. The catering arrived slightly late into the meeting, so I would just make sure they know if there's a hard deadline. Wonderful service. Everyone enjoyed a variety of the other wraps and sandwiches with meat, and said they were very good. I would totally go back to see what the actual restaurant looks like, and would love to try one of the Greek wraps next!

I tried their turkey burger with "cranberry mayo" and they slapped canned cranberry sauce with some mayo mixed in. What a disappointment. I talked to an employee and they did nothing to remedy this issue.

    Chicken Gyro Basket!
    Andrea D.

I came in for a late lunch and was glad I did! I read reviews online and I had to try. I ordered the Chicken Gyro Basket which I seen was mentioned a lot. It was so good! To start the gyro tasted great. The tzatziki sauce was so good. The addition of the tasty homemade french fries made this a very filling meal! I highly recommend giving the Chicken Gyro Basket a try! I look forward to returning and trying more!

Lentil soup (bowl) - 3 stars (Friday night 2013-12-13)

Things go keep in mind: - No tables here! Not a big issue but not exactly the best place for 5 people to catch up. There's a row of seats along the counter at the window (maybe 10 total). Much more of a pick-up to-go place. - Saw tons of cops come here to grab dinner. My friend made a good point that any restaurant where you see a lot of cops or EMT workers means it's definitely a great local spot - they will know the neighborhood better than just about anyone. - We could all tell a lot of the desserts were Costco-bought, being big Costco fans ourselves. (Recognized the brownies, saw the packaged cookies on the shelf, and the chocolate cake definitely tasted familiar) I feel like I can't really give a rating on these items since they don't make them in-house. Can't comment on the cheesecake & baklava, maybe they make those. Cost: $11.75 for a wrap & curly fries. Very inexpensive, very quick, & lots of options. Must-haves: Fresh Fish & Chips, Mac & Cheese bites, Spicy Curly fries (if you don't mind that it's not too spicy). Menu: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/mamas-place-boston?select=hSvX00xGkjnc75TqIcZ-Bw#7C7vHK1vwtoVfS5S8V001g GREEK CUISINE * Gyro Sandwich, Beef ($6.95) - 3.5 stars pic: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/mamas-place-boston?select=hSvX00xGkjnc75TqIcZ-Bw#DmHjAOrHqq4gIodI3wI72A cross-section: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/mamas-place-boston?select=hSvX00xGkjnc75TqIcZ-Bw#PyUDn76Hqz-ypZ0onrJq_Q The bread is pretty thick and soft, but could have been just a little more toasted. The meat was good but I would have loved even more sauce to bring everything together! The ingredients weren't distributed the best - a layer of meat, a layer of shredded lettuce, a couple slices of tomato, and sauce drizzled on top. SOUPS * Lentil soup ($3.95 for a bowl) - 3 stars pic: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/mamas-place-boston?select=hSvX00xGkjnc75TqIcZ-Bw#hSvX00xGkjnc75TqIcZ-Bw Interesting that they gave those small crackers that normally come with clam chowder. The soup was pretty thick, lots of good texture from the lentil, but it was really bland in flavor. SIDE ORDERS * Spicy Curly Fries ($3.75) - 3.5 stars pic: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/mamas-place-boston?select=hSvX00xGkjnc75TqIcZ-Bw#eDFRF0b9kWT0caIKnm0aAg Absolutely perfect texture. An evenly slightly thick layer of flaky crisp. You bite through it to a warm soft inner part. Just perfectly thick. I just wish these were more spicy! Definitely could've used more flavor. You do get a giant serving. * Mac & Cheese Bites ($4.95) - 4 stars pic: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/mamas-place-boston?select=hSvX00xGkjnc75TqIcZ-Bw#UPcasjjpqu0EgTEi5Vwzuw cross-section: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/mamas-place-boston?select=hSvX00xGkjnc75TqIcZ-Bw#Sk8ZmZ_uiCDwPTGdZNJg1g You get a smaller serving, but this was really great. Triangles of mac & cheese (creamy, soft, fantastic), surrounded in a thick perfectly crisped layer of batter. The cocktail sauce went great with this. FISH & SHRIMP * Fresh Fish & Chips - 4 stars (w/ fries, coleslaw, & homemade tartar sauce. $9.25) pic: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/mamas-place-boston?select=hSvX00xGkjnc75TqIcZ-Bw#j_3kEFwPl0f9E_QCWUER1A Wow, probably the best quality fish I've ever had in a fish & chips dish! Really tender and soft. The batter was a little soft and soggy, though. The chips were even fish-flavored, probably friend in the same oil! However, while the middle part was soft and chewy, the outer part once again didn't have enough crisp, unlike the curly fries. You do get a giant plate and overall this was pretty great. MAMA'S WRAPS * Cleopatra's Wrap - 3 stars (hummus, tabouli, falafel & tahini sauce, cucumber, tomatoes. $6.95) pic: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/mamas-place-boston?select=hSvX00xGkjnc75TqIcZ-Bw#NE9HntahR-P1m6a0-q7gqQ I thought this was an amazing deal, and you do get a huge wrap for this great price. Remember that you aren't getting any meat, which I was aware of. However, this IS a cold wrap (I thought the falafel might be toasted!), and the wrap itself was VERY stale and hard to bite through. This made it really hard to enjoy, especially since the hummus was absolutely delicious, very thick and fresh-tasting, the dominant flavor, and went so well with all the other ingredients.

We ordered two flavors: Olive Oil & Sea Salt and Caramel & Pistachio, both priced at $7. I'll admit, it's a fun concept and a nice addition to the menu. The Olive Oil & Sea Salt was refreshing and had a subtle savory touch that made it different from your typical frozen yogurt. The Caramel & Pistachio was my favorite of the two, with the crunchy pistachios adding a nice texture and the caramel giving it just enough sweetness. That said, I had a hard time justifying the price. While the frozen yogurt tasted good, the serving size was fairly small, and I never really felt like I was getting $7 worth of dessert. It felt more like an Instagram-worthy upsell than something I'd go out of my way to order again. I'm glad I tried it because I was curious after seeing so many posts online, and now I can officially check it off my list. If you're already at Saloniki and want to try something a little different, I'd say it's worth ordering once just for the experience. Overall, I'd give it 3/5 stars. It's refreshing, unique, and a fun twist on frozen yogurt, but I don't think the value matches the price. I probably wouldn't come back specifically for the frozen yogurt again.

He had a $100 Resy credit, which ended up covering our entire meal with a little left over. For the quality of the food and the overall experience, it felt surprisingly affordable and very satisfying. The ambiance is open, stylish, and inviting, with both booth and table seating. We were seated at a corner table, which made the dinner feel relaxed and comfortable. The menu is mostly tapas-style, so it is a great spot if you want to order several dishes and share. One downside is that the entrées were pretty meat-heavy. The kebabs, for example, were limited to beef, lamb, chicken, and swordfish. I would have loved to see a vegetable or tofu kebab on the menu. That said, I was still able to put together a really satisfying meal from the appetizers, mezze, and salads. We started with a dip assortment that came with Lebanese-style flatbread, or manakish. The dips included a spicy yogurt-based dip, beet hummus, and another grainier orange-colored hummus. Everything was flavorful, fresh, and really enjoyable. The standout dish for me was the crispy eggplant. It came as thin, tempura-style slices of eggplant with a pomegranate yogurt sauce and a honey glaze. It was definitely on the sweeter side, but it was absolutely delicious--honestly, I could have made a meal out of that dish alone. We also ordered the fattoush salad, which had the classic vegetables but felt especially fresh because of the watermelon cubes, cherry tomatoes, sumac vinaigrette, and capers. My boyfriend also tried the oysters, which were a special that day. Overall, Ilona was a great dinner spot: cute atmosphere, central Boston location, shareable plates, and tasty Mediterranean food. I do wish there were more vegetarian-friendly entrée options, but I still had a very satisfying meal and would happily come back.

I am disappointed, from the very start to the end my experience was quite bad. The kitchen did not allow a bread substitution for the sandwich we ordered, they did not do waffles at this location either, and when we got our food the portion sizes were very small. The salmon was very overpriced for how much they offered; $27 for a piece of salmon only a few inches across was insulting, but apparently that is just how it is served there (picture below, you can see the pieces of broccoli are almost as big as the fish!) The other dish we got was the chicken sandwich, which is cut into two halves. The first half was normal but there was basically no chicken on the second half of the sandwich, it was essentially all bread. We brought it up to a manager and they got us a new piece of chicken, which fit entirely alongside the old piece of chicken on the bun because it was so small. On top of that we had to wait around nearly half an hour after finishing and had to flag down a waiter to get our check and go. The service overall was very slow. I will never come back to this restaurant.
