My daughter and I came here for breakfast on Saturday morning around 10:30 am and the place was jam packed. There was no parking in the front and almost no parking available in the back but luckily we found a spot. We walked in to a full waiting area. My first thought to all of this, is that, this is a good sign. Considering how full it was we didn't have to wait more than 10 minutes to get seated. We received an order of complimentary chips and salsa which were really good but it was apparent the chips were not home made. I don't mind if they're not home made if they taste good and this was the case. The salsa I was on the fence about. I don't think it was home made but again if it's good, I'm good. My daughter ordered the biscuits and gravy with sausage and I ordered the Migas breakfast with chorizo and a side of refried beans. Had I known their portions here, I probably would have skipped the beans but I like to slop all my goodies smeared with the beans on my tortilla. Now I'm pretty sure the tortillas are home made and this just makes the meal complete in my opinion. My meal was excellent! It was so much food, I took home leftovers for Sunday morning. My daughter loved her breakfast and I tasted it as well and it was delicious. The biscuits were definitely home made. I chose Mama's because of the excellent reviews on Yelp. We were there about 6:30 PM and there was hardly anyone there and that concerned me because it should have been busier. We decided to try it anyway. Good choice! My wife asked the server what was most popular on the Senior menu. He suggested 3-4 items. She then asked between two items so we all chose the one he picked; the pot roast with two sides. Tony, our server was outstanding. He checked on us several times during the meal and seemed sincere with his questions. I had a salad and loaded baked potato. All choices were very ample servings. Love their breakfasts. Plenty of good; crisp bacon, nice coffee refilled quickly, and fast service.

The food is good, and the service is okay. Sometimes the servers are on top of it, sometimes not, it depends on the day. Ambiance is very mom and pop shop, it's cute if you're into that. However don't expect to make call in orders. I have on several occasions tried to call to do a pick up order and they will let the phone ring and send you to voicemail every time, or better yet, they don't even have their phone charged so you can't call at all. I love the food, it's great, but that's about the only great thing about it. The experience I have every time I deal with them is frustrating. read more

Overall was unimpressed by the staff and food. I was visiting town for my grandfather in the hospital and this place is close to the hospital so stopped in to order take out for myself and my grandmother. I asked the hostess for a menu so I didn't have to ask her too many questions (I have food allergies) and she told me even if I did ask shr probably could only help with half. I ordered a hamburger and a taco salad. After waiting a little over 20 minutes the food and drinks were ready. No plasticware was in the bag so I asked for some and she took a couple minutes more to go get it. Now there was a line of people waiting to be seated and pay for their meals. One guy in line wished me luck which I took as this is a common thing. Took the food back to the hospital and we were really disappointed. The taco salad came without dressing and was in a really greasey taco bowl. My grandmother's burger had diced up tomatoes and onions which kinda went all over because the buns were really moist from the veggies but the burger was way overcooked. read more

When I have time on the road I love going out for a leisurely breakfast. I can picture myself being retired and meeting a group of curmudgeons every morning for coffee, conversation & exaggeration. This would be a great place to do just that. Casual dinner, friendly service and great breakfast menu. I'm sure the food later in the day is great also. I ordered an extra egg omelette & waved off the pancakes. It was huge, delicious and served freakishly fast. The servers were great and treated strangers like friends. My favorite place in Tyler for breakfast. It's like my go to place for breakfast. These guys have been even awarded with "Local Love Us" certificates for some years. They offer Breakfast 24/7 and other lunch and dinner texmex items. My favorite is their pancakes. It's just taste different than the usual ones. I only gave 3 Stats as the place is not that very clean. They need to work on that. The floors are really dirty, so are the restrooms. read more

Found this place on Yelp and decided to kill time waiting on my dads cataract surgery. It's a nice little hole-in-Wall place which I love, it has a mom and pops feel. They have French vanilla creamer which is a must for me so I was excited. I like a little coffee with my creamer in the morning. They have daily breakfast and dinner specials today is the breakfast sampler special. I substituted two pieces of ham for two extra pieces of bacon . The above was before I got my food. My order came out the ham so My waiter Jorge O. sees it at the same time I do and turns around and walks back to the kitchen, replaces the ham with a extra sausage and 1 bacon instead of 2 sausages & 4 bacon. He then stops a man leaving and is in his person space visiting with my plate of food, which during flu season is scaring me, and carried on a 2-3 minute conversation. So my food is getting cold and picking up their germs. The other waitress seems nice and friendly to everyone, but my waiter never came to check on me at all. He did check on other people. The pancakes were very good, hash browns didn't have any flavor, the bacon was good and the sausage links were good. I was very disappointed in the service I received and I was really excited to come here to begin with . I don't know that I will return based on service. Wow. What can I say? This is by far the best Chorizo Breakfast Tacos I've ever had. I remember having my first taco at Jim's restaurant 30+ years ago, and have never had a better one....until now. I recently moved back to Texas and found this little gem using Waitr, and I'm glad I did. It served everyone in my household no matter what they wanted: Mexican, American, Breakfast, Burgers....doesn't matter. My wife got a Mexican dish, my mother got chicken fried steak, and I got the chorizo tacos....I wish I had ordered 10 because the 3 I had weren't enough, even though they were a good size. I have to say that I have not eaten a good chicken fried steak in awhile. I ordered breakfast through Waitr, a delivery service, and was very disappointed with what I received. I ordered biscuits and gravy with hashbrowns and sausage. I requested to sub the sausage for bacon. When the food arrived, the hash browns were *very* undercooked and the biscuits were black and very obviously burnt. You would assume since it was a delivery order, they would have placed the gravy in a separate container so it wouldn't get all over everything, but no. The gravy was over half of the hash browns and both of the sausage patty's (that I requested bacon for). I can get over the food not being the best because it went into a carry out box and was probably in a car for 15-20 minutes but the under/over cooked food, and getting what I did not order is really what ruined the meal. read more

It's a no frills diner with friendly staff and quick service....at a price. The hash browns that came with our breakfast arrived cold. Not fridge cold but room temp cold so what this tells me is they didn't even try to warm it up, microwave it , nada. Who knows when the last time them taters were on the griddle. Yes, it is true the best food can be found in the hole in the wall. After some careful decisions of what shall we eat. You know when you are hungry but yet cannot determine what to eat. I decided I would indulge in the chicken fried steak. I may add that I do not normally partake in unhealthy food. However after much discussion with the waiter who suggested we try. I figured why not! The chicken fried steak was lightly crusted and fried just right! The taste was scrumptious! The side mash potatoes, were light and fluffy, (not box quality) and corn crunchy and sweet, oh so perfect. I had to stop myself from eating the bread. The only downside, seem the food lacked a bit of salt. Not just personal opinion, spouse had the same feedback. We would definitely be returning. I may add that we ate here 2x. Had a great breakfast this morning! I was in Tyler visiting from Los Angeles and really wanted some breakfast. Came across Mama's on Yelp, told my family we had to go! No waiting in lines for a table and the food came out in a timely manor. For the record our food was just as good as their customer service. Our server, Joseleny, went above and beyond to make sure we had the best experience. All the menu prices were overwhelming inexpensive, tons of good choices. Highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for food breakfast food. The only reason for 4 stars, is that the decor was a tad bit outdated, some electrical wires were exposed and the furniture was oddly colored. I guess it adds charm to the experience.
