Mamie's is my favorite stop for a snack at Beaver Creek. You order from a menu before you enter the deck, pay at the register and your food comes out a window on the other side of the deck. Then you get to grill it yourself, yeah! Bigass burgers, dogs, chicken breasts, portabello mushrooms...even s'mores! I always get a grilled cheese for $6, the burgers are $11. There are containers of melted butter you can brush on your bread (thick and soft) and buns (pillowy perfect, like at H Burger or Cherry Cricket). There is a long row of grills with condiments and seasonings and grill tools in the middle. It's such a blast. Adirondack chairs are on either side of the deck with tons of picnic tables, umbrellas to shield the sun and a warming hut too. You can buy bottles of wine here ($40ish up to $200+) or beers or hot cocoa or even Gluhwein. This isn't a place where you can bring your own booze or food to grill, but it's a better deal than the $20 burgers at the base of Bachelor Gulch. The meat patties were huge and you get a slice of cheese to melt and a pile of fresh veggies as toppers. If you don't feel like cooking your own food, you can order soup, stew, chili, chips, cookies and a few other items. Or the staff will cook for you...but that's not as much fun! Just do it yourself, even if your ski jacket smells like campfire + cheeseburger for a few days. You can even grill steak like a baller if you give them enough advance notice. I love that you can get a cheap bite or go ultra fancy depending on your mood and wallet contents. I only wish they stayed open a bit later, but they really can't since they are at the top of a lift that has to close at the same time daily.

So I thought it important to hear a review from a local resident who frequents this establishment…read moreregularly. I consider myself a professional diner...meaning I am out 3-4 nights a week, and Northside Kitchen is my most favorite restaurant in the Vail Valley. I usually dine at the bar where either Connor or Brandon are not only offering service with a smile, but are also welcoming everyone who walks through the door! Their custom cocktails are awesome, but I go for their insanely extensive wine by the glass menu!! Caymus, Silver Oak, Duckhorn, Quilt, and about 40 other high end wines are all offered by the glass at Northside! Both 6oz and 9oz pours are available. The dining staff, are professional, pressed, and knowledgeable about wine, food, and professional fine dining service levels. The dining room offers beautiful white linen covered in butchers paper, with the perfect level of lighting to see both the menu and the guests you are dining with. The dining room and porch are modern and clean. The menu items, created by Chef Noah Bender, are delicious! Hand cut steaks and Prime Rib are favs, but don't be afraid to try their pappardelle Bolognese or the fantastic fresh "sea to table" black cod or trout! It's dynamite! You will find the service in the dining room attentive yet not overwhelming. Northside Kitchen to me is one of the most underrated fine dining restaurants in the Vail Valley!! Definitely go give this great spot a try!!

Avon has lots of roundabouts with very little signage. The front didn't look promising until I noticed the great looking well shaded patio. Walking inside, I was greeted by a large bar with comfortable seating. Up a short flight of stairs was another dining area and the kitchen. Unfortunately, they had only 1 server on a Monday afternoon, so the patio was not available. I was served by Monica. Her manager assisted. I sat in the upper room, starting with a draft of Pacifico. Nice big menu with standards you would expect in a burger place. Most of the customers were locals with a few groups of tourists. I ordered the single (6oz) burger with pepperjack cheese, mushrooms, jalapeños and small side of shoestring truffle fries. The burger came with lettuce, tomato and red onion for no additional charge. Very good burger, cooked medium. I asked Monica about their desserts. She recommended the chocolate cake. I got a large slice with fudge between the layers and on top for only $11. I skipped the vanilla ice cream. As I was paying the bill, I noticed an increasing number of servers arriving. Happy Hour is 2-530pm daily. They have drink specials Mon-Thur with extended hours on Thursday. They add a 4% Living Wage Fee for staff. Clean restrooms.
