Becca bowl with chicken and Al pastor
    Mei S.

The food was delicious. While it is a bit pricier than other locations, the food taste great and the portions are very large. The service is great, the person taking my order let me sample the al pastor to see if I liked it and was very accommodating to the modifications I made to my bowl. The ambiance was laid back and relaxing. The food came out very quick.

A bit of organized chaos to pick up an online order. If their food wasn't so good we might reconsider ordering from them. Tacos are amazing! Elote salad is dive-in delicious. Fun ambiance if you dine in- order at counter and get a number when your order is ready. No alcohol - soft drinks only

While shopping at The North Face, an employee recommended this place. I'm glad he did. Service was great and the elote bowl & the carne asada tacos did not disappoint. They were so flavorful. The Cali Swag burrito on the other hand was a bit of a disappointment. I would have preferred my burrito with less fries and more meat. Other than that, if your looking for some decent tacos this place is it. I will definitely be back.

We have never been to the Rochester location but have always wanted to. When we saw that Victor had a location, we were eager to stop in. Located across from Eastview Mall, behind prior North Face location. Modern indoor décor, music was a bit louder than I would like but very bright and colorful aesthetic. Indoor and outdoor seating options. Street parking available in the front of the location, which was simple. Multiple options on the menu with fish, shrimp, pork, chicken, and beef as well as some vegetarian options. Portions are large and easily shared. I had a variety of tacos served with chips and salsa. The hot salsa was hotter than I expected, so if you like more of medium salsa I would get the milder one. The tacos were all very flavorful, chips were fresh. Fountain soda available, no alcohol on the menu (that I saw). They have take-out available as well. Highly recommend checking out the menu and stopping in or getting take-out.

I was pleasantly surprised by the bold yet balanced flavors in the Elote Bowl. Our Carnitas Quesadilla was also delicious. The pork was moist and had the slightest but perfect amount of crunch and chew. I will definitely go back because there are more menu items I need to try. Some people may disagree, but my 3 star rating would be higher if the place was more comfortable and pleasant to eat in. While there's some colorful decorations, overall the high warehouse ceiling along with the hard metal chairs scraping on bare concrete floors create unpleasant cavernous sounds. I feel like they are going for eat and leave please. There's some outside dining available. Overall, really good food but not a great place if you want to relax and have a conversation.

We eat at Old Pueblo Grill weekly -- can't recommend it enough! Tons of great menu options, consistently delicious food, and awesome, friendly staff.

We DoorDashed the order and the food came nicely prepared and packaged with order labels and our names written on top of the lids. Pleasantly surprised to discover that Shaloka is a food court stand in Eastview Mall. The quality of their bowls exceeded my expectations of typical food court food. What sets Shaloka apart from Tai Chi is their fruit bowls (Açai and Pitaya/Dragonfruit) and also their Signature Bowls. The fruit bowls are super refreshing and are akin to a smoothie in a spoon and bowl format. Their Signature Bowls also take the guesswork out of it. They are recipes that have already been tested. They are still customizable and you can even build your own like at Tai Chi if you wanted to. I got their Signature Hawaiian Classic bowl and it was delicious. Ahi tuna, salmon, avocado...enough said. It was yummy and I actually really loved their brown rice. It was short grain and had some good texture. Overall, it's the best poke i've had in Rochester, which isn't saying too much because there aren't too many other options. But still, the bowls are well-composed and feel more like a whole dish than a bunch of toppings thrown on top of rice.

Pokelava leans into the chaotic joy of "build-your-own," and sometimes I want that maximalist experience -- crispy onions, spicy mayo, seaweed salad, and every crunchy thing they'll let me pile on. It's like a flavor party where everyone's invited. But Hawaii poke taught me something: restraint. Simplicity. Respect for the fish. There, the bowls are quieter -- no sauce tsunami, no mountain of mix-ins -- just fresh ahi, a dash of shoyu, maybe a sprinkle of green onion. The kind of bowl that looks you in the eyes and says, "I don't need a crunchy topping to be beautiful." Still, Pokelava isn't trying to be Hawaii. It's playing its own game -- fast, convenient, and comfortingly consistent. After tasting the gold standard, I've come to appreciate Pokelava not for what it lacks, but for what it unapologetically is: a solid, build-your-own poke spot that lets you be a little unhinged with your toppings and still get a good meal out of it. Would I fly across the Pacific for it? No. Will I still walk across the street for it? Absolutely. And if they keep giving me quarters for laundry? Lifelong loyalty, sealed.

I got a build your own bowl with zoodles and rice as my base. There are lots of protein options, all cut too small imo, but they were fairly generous with portions. I had the seared tuna and salmon. For mix ins I added cucumber, edamame, mango cabbage, and onion. I liked how they mixed everything together instead of just piling it on top. They also mix in the sauce which is great. I had the sesame ginger. For toppings you can choose three, and I opted for seaweed salad, kani salad, and corn. I also got nori strips and wasabi/ginger. Kani salad wasn't the best but other than that everything was fresh and tasty. Idk if I'd rush back but it was good! I would get it again. Bowl with two proteins was $13.50 before tax.

The yakitori was disappointing. Dry chicken skewered with green onion and covered in a sauce that tasted more like mitarashi dango glaze than actual yakitori tare. Extremely sweet and not the right flavor profile at all. The sushi was the bigger issue. Both the chirashi and the sushi combo had almost identical fish selections. Several pieces were clearly low-quality, especially the white fish, which tasted unmistakably like tilapia! Muddy flavor and all. I've never been served tilapia as sushi before, and it definitely shouldn't be used that way. The other fish didn't taste fresh either. The California roll was large snd bland. We paid a little over $90 with tip, and the quality didn't match the price. I even brought the leftover fish home thinking I could cook it for our cat, but even he refused it. I understand not expecting high-end sushi in upstate NY, but I do expect basic freshness and authenticity. Unfortunately, this meal fell far below that. I would not recommend this place.

The steak in the steak teriyaki was perfectly cooked to medium as requested and very savory and meaty. The shrimp tempura plate was also well prepared but maybe the most generic seeming of the things we tried. I loved my red sangria. Service was present and reasonable but didn't stand out. We would certainly go back.

Disappointingly we got seated near a half wall and in a thoroughfare. I got bumped into multiple times by kids presumably going to the restroom and by a bunch of adults who cleared out from the back table along the wall and couldn't manage to avoid hitting me or even apologize for doing so. The seating near the windows began rapidly clearing out 20 minutes to a half hour after we arrived and we would've loved to move but the offer wasn't made. A few tables could be saved per seating especially when you are reserving in advance. Some of the patrons who were seated along the windows were under dressed too wearing baseball caps and workout attire yet they were enjoying the prime views. Our waitress wasn't very friendly or imaginative when asked about substitutes or alternatives we offered to pay for. The bread basket took forever to come out. Our food was good. Not sure if we'll return. Our son is wrapping up his sophomore year at Fisher so we're always looking for nice places to have dinner when we visit but this one didn't win us over.
