For Mother's Day virgilio and I took his mom to Mamma onesta's for dinner. We had reservations for 7:15 and were seated promptly upon our arrival. Our waiter Joe appeared promptly to inquire about the drinks we might like to have. I commented that they have three pages of wine but no other alcohol on the menu. Joe pointed out that they have a full bar, so we can order anything. It would have been nice if he had pointed out that there was a separate menu with other alcohol options. I found that at the end of the meal when I was looking for a dessert menu. We ended up ordering 3 glasses of sangria which was quite enjoyable. For an appetizer we had the Toasted Italian Cheese Raviolis. As an appetizer it was a good choice for three to share. Next time Virgilio and I will try the calamari we couldn't have that tonight as mom is allergic to Seafood. One of the reasons we selected this restaurant was the large number of options they have for chicken as mom always orders chicken when we dine out. Much to our surprise she ordered the eggplant parmesan. It looked awesome and mom loved it. Virgilio ordered the Salmon and muscles. He said it wasn't "the best salmon" he ever had but he liked it a lot. To be honest, he was making sounds of pleasure as he ate the muscles and he always compares salmon to some restaurant he doesn't even remember lol. I think his positive reaction to the meal says more than words. I typically order Italian food at Italian restaurants but as our waiter read off the specials I got sucked into the parmesan encrusted sirloin with broccoli and spaghetti. For the price this was the best steak I've had in a long time and I enjoyed every bite of it. Tender and perfectly cooked medium. The pasta was awesome, as a complement and the tomatoe sauce is clearly freshly made, flavorful, perfect. I mentioned finding that dessert menu earlier and we selected the Amaretto cream cake. It was super light and flavorful. A wonderful touch to finish off our evening. Overall the wait staff was attentive. Our waiter followed up to see if we wanted refills and to ask how things taste or if we need needed anything else but was not overly attentive. Anytime any glass was empty or plate was empty someone from the staff was there to remove it hand or offer a refill. I didn't notice it, but Virgilio later commented that our waiter mainly focused on me. If so, I bet he squirmed a bit when Virgilio asked for the bill. For Mother's Day they also gave Mom a red rose which was a lovely touch. Overall we had a very pleasant experience and enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The hardwood floors and color pallet on the walls make it a warm inviting location to Dine. read more

First time visit and loved it! Very cute place. I decided to get a little daring and try the colossal scallop pasta in lobster sauce and it was the BEST thing I've ever had. We went tonight for dinner. It was our first visit so we didn't think about a reservation. Parking was hard to find but something big was going on in the area (we saw a big tent) When we walked in a very nice man welcomed us and asked if we had a reservation. We told him no and he offered us a seat at the bar or outside. We chose the bar and was greeted by Nick. We told him it was our first visit and asked for suggestions. He made a few and left us to peruse the menu. I chose the Chicken Parm. and my hubby got the spaghetti and meatballs. The food was amazing and the place was very busy. UPDATE: I never received a gift card as promised. Not to surprised as the GM was fairly condescending on the phone and had said she was going to send us $15 as an apology. I told her $15 was hardly anything considering the situation and I asked for at least $20-$25. She agreed verbally but never followed through. Food was great but half tray of pasta was enough for about 5 people not the 12-14 that's claimed on catering menu. One individual I spoke to on the phone agreed that the catered portion sizes for pasta are misleading and would probably feed 5-6. Then the general manager (who also took my initial order) got on the phone and was SHOCKED when I told her we didn't have enough food. However after some back and forth, she finally said that if you only order a pasta entree then a half tray probably won't feed the 12-14 people like it says. Not sure why she didn't share that when she took my initial order which ONLY included one entree which was a pasta dish. Yes, it is a trek to get here. First, it is a very small space and I would NEVER consider sitting at the table right next to the door, I mean really, why not just seat people right outside the bathroom doors. HIGHLY UNDESIRABLE. The food is okay. I will admit that the homemade creamy Italian dressing was probably the best dressing I have ever had. The fried ravioli was ample to share. Our entrees were fine. Were they on the caliber of Capri of Woodridge or Petey Z's in Naperville? (Boy do we ever miss you guys) Not even close. And, since I had checked out the menu before making our reservations, I knew to bring my own pine nuts, thanks Petey Z. for that tip. The peaches and cream gelato was outstanding. It was creamy with great texture and one serving was too much for 2, but we tried to finish it. Other notes: make reservations, come early, and be prepared to NOT be able to hear the server or anyone NOT seated directly next to you. The noise level is what cost this place more stars. White table clothes and you might as well be sitting by yourself. The tables are so close you feel like you are dining with total strangers and we, unfortunately, were seated next to a woman who had the most obnoxious laugh that was amplified by the acoustics. We came here last minute because someone wanted Italian and suggested Olive Garden!! I almost died, so luckily I found this place with good reviews and they certainly lived up to it. I was glad they were able to accommodate a party of nine within a half hour, but it was Sunday and Super Bowl... First, I just want to say the customer service was great. Everyone was warm and welcoming. Never had to wait long for service or questions. Food was literally back to back from appetizers, salads/soups, to entrees. The portions are huge. You mostly fill up on that addictive garlic bread! Then we ordered calamari which wasn't too greasy like most places and was light in texture which was good. By then I was already full and forgot about my salad! Salad was fresh along with everything else. Finally, my entree was stuffed shells - I couldn't even finish one shell I was so stuffed, but the sauce tasted good - had a nice flavor with chunky tomatoes. The ambiance is nice sit down, very quaint feel in an old-fashioned building. Kid-friendly too with a kid menu. Prices were reasonable. I'm not too familiar with the area, but good restaurants are hard to come by when I'm visiting the Joliet area, glad to have found this place. read more

I'm sooo glad that i picked this spot for our date night tonight! We came from Frankfort and i wanted to find something new and different from the norm. The reviews were great so i figured we would give it the old college try lol we were greeted immediately and our reservation was acknowledged and we were seated immediately. The inside it very cozy and decorated beautifully! We had the Diablo shrimp served over fettuccine which my boyfriend says was 9.5/10 !! And i had the Chicken Picatta and OH EM GEEE i LOVE the lemon flavor butter sauce , i paired it with a glass of Santa marghertia and JODY was an amazing SERVER who was very kind, attentive and informative about the menu and specials. Oh i almost forgot ..do not skip on the garlic knots/rolls !!! I took my husband here for his birthday last night and this restaurant was awesome!!! Everything was wonderful! The food was delish! We ordered appetizers soup and entrees and all were excellent!!! The service was very good, our waitress was awesome!!! She even brought out a birthday dessert for my hubby and i didnt even ask so it was a nice surprise for us both!! We sat at a nice romantic table in the corner. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and very clean! Great Italian spot in Lockport! Came here for a simple date night dinner and everything went great! Started with the garlic knots they put on the table, these were very tasty if you like garlic like I do. Wine I thought was a little high priced for the area but the pour was good and the chianti I had wasn't bad. I had cream of tomato soup and thought it was very good, though it was $1 upcharge from the included soup with the entrée. I ordered the lobster ravioli and admittedly my expectations were low, as this is Lockport and I've had amazing lobster ravioli at several spots downtown before. It was surprisingly good! Rich sauce, typical sized portion and lobster tasted fresh. She had fettucine alfredo and said it was really good, I didn't get to try it though. I was pretty impressed with the ambiance when I walked in. The place is cute and has a great location on a corner in downtown Lockport. I am generally not a big pasta house guy but every once in a while it is nice for a change of pace. I ordered the fettucini alfredo with steak and shrimp. The steak and shrimp were cooked well, but i was not a huge fan of their alfredo sauce. Not very creamy and instead of being bright white the sauce was brownish. Also, I could tell that my meal sat under a hot lamp for a while, it had that slight skin on the top of the sauce and the plate was nuclear hot. Service was adequate but not terribly memorable. I will eat here again but it probably wont be my first choice down the road. read more

We really loved this Italian restaurant. SO much so that we would drive back down to Lockport from Chicago, just for lunch. The food is delicious, the service is wonderful and the atmosphere is Italian romantic. It isn't the cheapest place in town, but it might well be the best.
