Total chaos. Food and the pastries are excellent, but this is a failed ordering system that has been prevalent throughout my patronage at the West Hartford location, and basically, they rubber stamped a failed model for their new location in Avon. My pizza came out cold. Even when you asked them to double warm it they put it in the oven for about a minute and by the time it makes its way to you. It's already lukewarm. It came out separate from my other half of the order then I watched it sit on the counter and go around the restaurant on somebody's tray end up back at the busing station, getting colder and colder. I know it's my slice. I'm watching it then it goes back to be put on a larger plate and finally got it. The saving grace here is that the food is delicious. The sandwiches are amazing, and the pastries are excellent as well. Especially the pistachio mousse cake and the cookies. I'm hoping that they will carefully consider a more organized busing system. As an added note, I witnessed someone else having to get up out of their chair because they saw their drink at the busing station and overheard people confused about where it was supposed to go and then it prompted her to just go get it herself. Another area of opportunity here is to understand the importance of a shared experience. If your partner orders a sandwich and you order a salad and would like to have a lunch together, that's likely not going to happen here. Because there's no system for someone to hold part of the order until the other one is finished. I'm hoping this comment actually gets heard and discussed among the management.

"One blade breaking my heart One blade tear me apart Your six-blade knife do anything for you" (Dire Straits) Doro Markets just opened their sixth location in Avon, CT, right where New England Pasta and Beanz Café used to be. The store is pretty much identical to the ones we're most accustomed to in West Hartford and Wethersfield -plenty of seating, big grab and go shelves, a coffee station, and a gorgeous cafeteria style counter where you can ogle their prepared foods and breads. They serve breakfast from 7-11 before turning the menu over to toasts, sandwiches, salads, bowls, soups, roasted chickens, and pizzas. We picked up a slice of White Pizza, a slice of pepperoni pizza, and a gorgeous Parma sandwich on a croissant with aged prosciutto di parma, swiss cheese, and arugula. We were there pretty close to their 8:00 closing and were surprised to see just how crowded they were still are. I suspect they will be a popular and very busy place for a long time to come.

The latest location of Doro has just opened in Avon. While in Avon, one will find an abundance of places for lunch or coffee. If you're looking for a bit of an elevated spot for a coffee, salad or a dessert, where you could dine solo or with a group, Doro is the place. Doro's signature exposed brick, makes the exterior stand out from the rest of the businesses in the area. The inside had fresh flowers at every turn. They have comfortable seating inside and outside. There's a large assortment of desserts, sandwiches, pizzas and more. On this occasion my guest got their Pastrami sandwich. This sandwich typically comes on rye bread, we requested it be made on a baguette instead. I got their Baklava Cold Brew. We were given an order number so that the waitstaff could find us. We sat outside since it was so nice out. The pastrami sandwich isn't something I'd typically get. They kindly made it on a toasted baguette as requested. I had a half. It was generously packed with pastrami, a bit of Swiss cheese and mustard. It wasn't bad, just not my preference. The Baklava Cold Brew had a whole lot of flavor profiles going on. You can't do wrong with any coffee from Doro. This Doro with so many options to cater to any preference and stellar service is sure to thrive.

Wonderful place! Convenient location close to Avon shops. Pastries are excellent. Cronut is my kids favorite. Salad and bowls are also wonderful. Feels so fresh and healthy. Latte is very smooth with depth (flavored ones are too sugary for me. I prefer no sugar regular latte). There is a lovely outdoor seating area. Very pleasant on a nice day.

That's because when you pull into the shopping plaza.....you don't see it. But if you circle around to the right, you'll see it on the side of the strip mall's buildings. And trust me, this spot is definitely worth hunting down to experience a standout breakfast or lunch. We walked in a little before 1:00 yesterday and found a table for two in the back left corner of the dining room, so we had a good view of the entire room. I have to tell ya, the place was packed! Breakaway closes at 3:00 every day except Sunday (2:00), and there were breakfast and lunch menus out, plus a few daily specials. My wife went with a "William's Ham Panini" ($17) with thin sliced ham, bacon, caramelized onions, cheddar and honey mustard on a grilled panini. We both were struck at how much ham was piled onto her sandwich. She had a few choices for a side dish and put her nickel down on potato salad. I went with The JT Salad ($16). The menu says it's been their "best-selling salad 25 years and counting". It was a big portion of mixed greens served with house balsamic dressing, grape tomatoes, gorgonzola cheese, and grilled chunks of teriyaki glazed chicken breast. It was stellar, with plenty of that yummy cheese and chicken. The only sour note with our lunch was a rather steep $4.25 for a glass of iced tea that was half-filled with ice. The food was very good and a decent amount of leftovers came home with us for another day. I was unexpectedly impressed by how crowded Bistro was on a random Monday. I bet you'll be too.

It's a scallion pancake and it is stuffed with sausage and eggs. It is so delicious and satisfying. It comes with a side of sweet potato fries, and of course my daughter loved that. Also I wanted to shout out the waiters, who are really nice and attentive! The only reason I'm not giving five stars is that they don't have pastries! I wonder why. It would really hit the spot in a cafe like this, especially with their coffee.

They have a great tap list, a decent tavern food list. Our experience began with complimentary warm mixed, spiced, nuts and mixed olives which were fantastic. I'll come back just for these. I had the New England Clam Chowder as an app and it was excellent. I had their Turkey Club sandwich for my meal, that also included a small house salad. The sandwich was served on freshly baked sour dough bread, and was very good also. The wife had the French Onion Soup, and we both liked it very much, although we both thought it was a little too sweet. I also had a couple draught beers, one of them had an ABV of 18% and was a very heavy stout served only in 5 oz glasses, which was enough. Our server at the bar, Vera, was attentive, pleasant, and friendly. We took a self-guided tour of the facility, and were impressed with the size and scope of the operation. The bread was airy, chewy, and perfectly golden brown. I did enjoy the latte I got because of how bold the coffee was. The beans were roasted perfectly and made the drink itself very smooth and robust. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Everyone seemed very pleasant and the environment itself was very cool. Think people are hating this place because they are comparing the food to Stop & Shop. The taste is pretty different. Sour Dough from NY, Vermont that was "baked today" but feels half frozen is $7 at Whole Foods ... so complaining about $10 for a local one is kind of wild. Yesterday I had a baguette from the West Hartford location. Ate it on the way home. It was so good. Finally tried a sandwich. I had their Turkey Sandwich today. Shit was life changing. Haven't had an experience like that since having a steak at J Gilberts for the first time. It is like wow this is what real food taste like and what our parents & grand parents would eat before everything was mass produced. Everything was local and delicious. They did have some tables and chairs outside, and it was a pleasant day to sit outside. Their milk is sourced from Arethusa Farms, one of the best, if not THE BEST local dairy resources. Their menu is large with coffee, tea, refreshers, including pastries, breakfast and lunch options. On this trip we got coffees. I got Nova's Nutella Latte, the others got a mocha and Kiwi, Mint & Lemongrass refresher. These were all very pricey, I was a bit taken aback. Each drink was between $9.00 and $10.00. Maybe it's because of the locally sourced milk, I can't think of another reason. My Nutella Latte was very chocholatey and very tasty, but my cup was also filled with ice all the way to the top. The refresher was very sweet, but a unique combo of flavors and pretty refreshing. The mocha was solid. Overall, maybe I got the wrong things at Bruno's, but I can't say I was super impressed, especially at such a high cost.
