I had been talking about just how much I appreciate some good Mediterranean food, and the person I was talking to told me that they had just the place for me. Enter Mana Mana. Let me start by saying this place is truly a hole in the wall. Not in a bad sense, but it could be easily missed driving or even walking past. There are only a handful of seats in the entire place. The gentleman working there mades the food fresh upon order in a small kitchen space behind the counter. I went for the chicken wrap and WOW was it spectacular. Fresh chicken breast, veggies, eggplant, tahini, and delectable spices all wrapped in a warm pita: what more could one ask for? Perhaps most notable about the food was that it was incredibly affordable and you got more than what you bargained for in terms of quantity. Mana Mana is a wonderful hole in the wall Middle Eastern restaurant in Clearwater. The restaurant and surrounding block aren't anything remarkable and maybe could be a bit sketchy late at night. But the food here is great. I got the gyro sandwich to go, and it was massive and delicious, though perhaps a bit heavy on the tahini - I may ask for less next time. Located in a non descript building, across from the bus stop, and in the heart of all the scientologists, this Israeli owner is dishing up fantastic, homemade, fresh food. I ordered the falafel plate. While they were preparing it, the owner was telling me the difference between Lebanese and Israeli falafel. Basically it's all in the type of peas used (chick pea or fava). The hummus was great, the tahini was nice and strong and the falafel didn't disappoint. I helped myself to the mango sauce on the bar-great. I sampled a pickle, expecting them to be sweet, but pleasantly surprised when they weren't. He's legit as they come and everything is made in house from scratch! The place is a dive, but those are the places where often times you get best food. We showed up around 7 on a Saturday night, and Bar took great care of the three of us. Phillip and I had the beef and lamb kabob dinners, with hummus, tahini, baba ganoush and a cucumber salad. Fantastic. Pam had the falafel dinner and she enjoyed that, too! We ordered a takeout dinner for a family member at home. The bill total came to less than $35. So, the bottom line, I will be back! I can't recommend this place enough. It's a super hole in the wall place with a door that barely works, so I was hesitant at first. However, I was greeted with one of the nicest owners I've ever met. We ordered the schwarma, which was delicious, and while he was making the food he gave us samples of the falafel which was AMAZING. You can't go wrong with anything, but I'd recommend the falafel. There were so much of the white tzatziki tomato cucumber sauce it made everything in the pita soggy and slipper; the falafel patties were not crispy and somewhat dense and under cooked; and I really could not detect any hummus ~ The pita itself was also rather disappointing being extremely thin. Ever since we moved here from CA 2 years ago I have been searching for a good falafel sandwich!!! Finally!!!! We stopped here for lunch today, it's a little place, as soon as you open the door you can smell a nice aroma. I ordered the falafel pita and it was amazing. It was fresh and the flavors are fantastic! There is also a little pickle bar where you can get some pickle carrots, onions, olives and pickles. Here is another mainly LUNCH joint serving the Downtown Clearwater workers. I LOVED this place at first, however my last 2 trips here has resulted in both my lunch pal and I with seriously pissed off bowels. Not cool when you have super farts in the office and have to literally RUN to the toilet. IDK what changed? He does kinda drown everything in oil. Sadly, I highly doubt the weathered/reused EVOO bottle actually had EVOO, but hey what do I know? For what you get it is pricey. There is not much meat in the meals, however the veg on the plates are always delicious! They gained 1 star in my rating, for having an amazing condiment bar. The spicy cilantro garlic sauce is SOOOO worth reeking of garlic for the rest of the day. The owner is always super nice and personable, but to dine in is uncomfortable and ALWAYS steaming hot. I believe the 2nd hand chairs and tables are originally from Quiznos (the logos and wording are not removed lol) and that's fine with me but it all feels unstable. If you sit at the bar and face to the street while dining in, you have the most amazing people watching u could ask for. The Scientology Temple is across the street, you literally watch them come in by the bus loads. Bottom Line - Give this guy a shot eh?! You may rolls the dice when it comes to your bowels, but nothing ventured nothing gained! Besides it's one of few ethnic cuisines and certainly Middle Eastern shops around this area.
