I just discovered this cute food trailer "Cafe Parkside" on Yelp as I was looking for restaurants…read morein Kalihi. Not sure where it was located in Kalihi, but I was determined to find it. I was at Richies Drive inn when I remembered to check out this place. It was about a couple lanes or two further down North King Street heading west and sure enough you can spot the cute food trailer in the parking lot. Did you know the family built this wooden cafe on the trailer together?! The Kids helped built this with the direction of their father. They are parked near the street in the shared parking lot with the Pawn shop & Jackson Hewett Tax Servive. It's across the Kapalama Post office but before the old Pizza Hut location and I think after Palace Saimin You would only see the cafe on the trailer from Tuesday-Friday from 11am -5pm. There are some picnic benches and chairs under the canopy tent while you wait. In the beginning they started out in Waimanalo but for now they are here in Kalihi. They are known for their Steak and Shrimp plate and their two huge pieces of boneless fried chicken. They have some regular items and some specials of the day. Best to call ahead and place your order. The fried chicken would take the longest about 10 minutes wait time. They have some other items which sounded good like pot roast pork which is not offered all the time, hamburger steak. Kalbi, loco moco, bbq chicken, etc. On a hot day, shave ice and slushies and slushes floats would be refreshing. They have lemonade and orange aid slushies , but I got an orange aid slushie float with ice cream. I decided to get the fried chicken since I had some time to wait. it was huge as the photos posted and it was $12! It was hot and crispy in a seasoned flour battered. I couldn't wait to take a bite as I was driving, but I just tried part of the fried batter. It was seasoned so it was a little salty for me perhaps I just ate the batter part. The chicken gravy given was really good but having two humongous boneless chicken, I may need more gravy than the large portion cup given. Chicken tasted better after pouring some of the gravy over it. The gravy was yummy and not the brown gravy, but the light tan gravy! I'm looking forward to try more dishes like the rib eye steak, pot roast pork or some other specials. Please support this family own business! Daily specials are posted on their Instagram page @cafeparkside808. They were so nice and down to earth. I was grateful for their great & friendly service and they even offered to bring my order to my car since I wanted to wait in my car. They have some regular customers now but could use more customers since they are a new business. Prices were reasonable with generous portions. Im honestly not a huge fan of cheese steaks but im converted! you really have to try this for yourself! I got the cheesesteak combo with the lemonade upcharge. the total was i think $24 or $25 for everything. The fries were perfectly cooked and crispy and the lemonade was not too sweet and not too sour. It kinda had like a yuzu note which was nice! I do want to come back again to try the burger. THe people that came around the same time as me enjoyed the hot dog as well. The service was so friendly and they truly care if you like the food or not. He mentioned that he was also from Philly. The gentleman working there told me the restaurant is renovating and decided to open a food truck to help supplement the business. The food truck is open for for those curious to try something new in the area and to all patrons of the Brewery. They have their own seating area in the back too so you don't need to be in the brewery. Got here before closing on a Saturday for a take out lunch break. Ordered Biscuits and Gravy from the Brunch menu. I haven't had Biscuits and Gravy for over 3 years and decided to indulge myself with nostalgia and $19 for my lunch break. So for $20 ( I walked out of the office with a $20 bill thinking to buy a quick meal around the corner) I got 2 perfectly seasoned and moist deep fried chicken tenders. The chicken was very good. Not overly seasoned and not salty. It also came with a perfectly cooked scramble egg ( I wasn't asked how I wanted it cooked, btw). Sadly, the biscuits and gravy, was NOT the star but a nice side. Nothing remarkable. Bland. Biscuits were very flat and the gravy with sausage was quite bland. It was nice to have it on the side as i dug into the tasty chicken and egg. Will be back to try the apps as its more my price range and good with beer for after work.

But now they've found a home on this corner. The homemade flatter and chewier noodles is what I remember about them both for the Saimin and they're fried Saimin. Good stuff, like a hybrid of chow fun noodles and Saimin noodles. Call ahead for orders if you plan on going at the peak of the lunch hour. They can get pretty busy and they're a two man shop. The fried Saimin is made to order so it comes out hot and fresh as well as some of the other menu items like the hamburgers and breakfast sandwiches.

Holoholo Grill is a genuinely solid food offering located in the Paradise Palms food court…read more Holoholo Grill is sort of split up into roughly three sections, with a ramen bar, a musubi section, and the main cashier section where you can purchase their main entree bentos as well as cafe drinks. In the morning you will find their usual breakfast options (including musubi) in their main section, although I think around 10 or 10:30 is when they start to put out their lunch items and move their musubi to the musubi section. I am always impressed at the options they put out. There are certain staples like their breakfast items and musubis, as well as select lunch bento, such as the loco moco and garlic chicken, but then they switch up the menu every day; one time I got pork belly in a Chinese bun-style slider. I am always excited to try their hot food items. I also like to pick up dessert when it's seemingly rare and unusual, like their tiramisus. Over on the musubi section, if they are selling butter mochi, I find it very hard to resist. Also, if I need to stretch my budget, I have found the musubis to be both (relatively) cheap and filling. Holoholo is my go-to for lunch (I love the Garlic Chicken, Miso Garlic Chicken, Lechon Kawali, Pork Adobo, Meat Jun, etc.). I especially love the local vibes of the food; I have been able to try so much Filipino food here (so much so that I've had more Filipino food in 4 months than I've had in the prior decades of my life). One word of caution is that they have often been unpredictable with how much they salt their food. I have been (salt)burned a handful of times with how unpleasantly salty a dish was. This is infrequent, but it has happened at least twice for me.

This particular Manapua truck parks on Cooke St. Across from ABC stores administration offices . It's a one man show he sits behind the order window of his lunch wagon and he takes your order than makes it and collects your money lol. I ordered his fried noodles with pork hash it was yummy . Of course it's not the price I use to remember @ .25cents a pork hash now it's 2 for dollar which it's not to bad compared to other Manapua trucks they sell it more . This lunch wagon also sells spring rolls and ham and cheese bun and fried burritos. If your in the area and want a quick bite stop by and support local
