Took out a few trays of food: ahi katsu and furikake salmon. Excellent as usual see photos.

This place was the most underrated and delicious spot I tried during my trip. Don't judge a book by its cover. The restaurant is located kind of under a bridge in a not so touristy/nice area. It's more a hole in the wall/takeout place. I ordered the Smoked Tako and it really knocked me out of the water! Normally I'm not an octopus guy it usually tastes bland and too chewy. But the way they cooked the Octopus is sooo unique and memorable because of the smokiness and their special spicy creamy sauce. I highly recommend trying this place out 10/10 would come back!

While In Oahu for a quick trip this April 2026, we found this spot off Yelp reviews. Very glad we did. I am diabetic and choosing tasty and healthy is not always easy. I ordered the Herb Salmon Salad Poke and Poke Bowl. So good. So fresh and good fast service.

Hadn't been to a Fresh Catch located in a while. To day we did a take out. Fish and Chips and Seared Furikaki Ahi. They used Cod for the as their fish in the fish and Chips. The plate lunch came with fries and mac/potato salad. Thumbs up for the cod. I don't care for the fries or the salad. Thumbs up for the Seared Ahi. Service was friendly and helpful. Enjoy

Wow so yummy! So fresh! So many different flavors to choose from. I love that you can ordered a poke bowl with as many as you want by the pound. It was pretty pricy, about $20? I think. But one of the best poke spots. Service was quick no frills. When we went there was no line

Decided to come here because LPGA Michelle Wie West rated Fresh Catch #1 for their poke so thought I'd give this spot a try while I was here on vacation. The poke was sooo good! There were plenty of options to choose from, but my best friend and I end up getting the: - Kamakazi Ahi - Garlic Ahi - Wasabi Ahi The staff here are so kind and so helpful. This was definitely worth the visit. Can't wait to come back and try more of their other options.

Was in the mood for fresh poke and this hit the spot! This was our first time here so we didn't know how to order. I think they were annoyed with us, haha! I get it, we were new there. Poke orders are placed at the walk up counter and by the pound , the combo and hot food is placed at the register. Food was fresh and hit the spot. Wish there were more places to sit and enjoy inside. We drove so we devoured it all in the car.

After we went to the lab to draw blood I was looking for a place to have lunch. I came across fresh catch on kapahulu. I saw furukaki seared ahi. And my husband said he'll try the fish and chips. I placed the ordered online so being a little early for the pick up I walked in. I also ordered salmon poke and their hawaiian blend poke. Came home and opened the plates. My seared furukaki ahi was good their wasabi mayo was good to accommodate the ahi. My husband fish and chips was plentiful. The fish he said was good the macaroni salad was ok and the fries he could pin point where he tasted it before. Sad that they didn't have the ahi poke salad. But that's fine. All in all was good. Support local.

Visit 09/2025 Fish so fresh they were probably sleeping in the ocean the night before they became poke lol. You can't leave Hawai'i without eating poke. Well you can but I'm pretty sure ithere is probably a level in Dante's Inferno for people like you. Fresh Catch is a must for poke enthusiasts or basically if you like seafood. Not the mainland poke craze where you run down a Subway style counter piling stuff like tangerine slices on top of a small serving of poke. Nope, bowls are poke and rice. Problem with that? See Dante's Inferno above. It's just take out here. Seriously, just a couple of benches while you wait for anything that might need time like a fried item. So service is strictly placing your order and paying. Thst being said, it is Hawai'i so service was full of welcoming aloha. Very patient as they do offer several takes and you are allowed to sample too! Choose whatever tickles your fancy. Ahi. Salmon. Octopus. Scallop. Spicy. Shoyu. Can't go wrong.

Best poke. You can tell the fish is top-tier quality--everything tasted so fresh and buttery. They have an amazing variety of options, from classic Ahi to unique mix-ins and sauces. If you don't know what you want, you can ask to try it. We ended up getting Foodland poke the next day and was disappointed. They were about the same price but you can immediately taste the difference. Great spot. There's always parking. Friendly staff.

Fresh Catch is a poke shop started by Reno Henriques' and has locations in Kapahulu and Kaneohe. This location near Waikiki only has a few parking spots outside and no seating inside. They make over 20 varieties of poke daily and can be bought by the pound mostly in the range of $23-$29 per pound. We ordered the spicy salmon and the shoyu ahi. The spicy salmon was good but I particularly liked the shoyu ahi. Of all the poke places I've eaten at in Hawaii (and it's been a lot), Fresh Catch's shoyu ahi might be my favorite. We ended up having to take our food to a nearby park to eat but it would've tasted delicious no matter where we went. I look forward to the day when I can come back and enjoy more of their poke offerings.

If you're looking for super delicious, super fresh, made with a whole lotta ohana poke, this spot is the place to go! There's a very nice selection of many types of fresh poke, and many different ways to go about it. It's located in an area where break-ins are common, so be aware to not have any belongings in your car while you're inside. Also, it is take out only- no dine in tables or seating, and parking is 15 min only. Aside from that, the service is quick and attentive. You get what you're looking for in a no frills manner. Cash is preferred; cards are also accepted, but with an extra surcharge if used. Wanting to try something different and on recommendation from a friend, I got their smoked tako (octopus) by itself. Boy, was it a flavor adventure with every bite! Super fresh and super chewy like a jerky of sorts. The spicy mayo sauce it was in was superb as well. However, it was just a tad too salty than what I was expecting, and it definitely left me thirsty for a good amount of water after. Worth a visit if you're in the area or want to go out of your way for a side food adventure!

Outstanding top to bottom- I got addicted to this spot while I was on the island! Everything is super fresh obvs, and the ahi katsu is some sort of miracle. They have my eternal recommendation!!

If you're not a fan of seafood, don't let the squid deter you as it is a minimal part of the dish and added more of a crunchy textural component rather than actual flavor. This was my wife and my favorite dish. The luau pork was also very good though I liked the version we had at Toa Luau better. We also liked the haupia which was a very refreshing coconut pudding though for some reason our boys didn't like it. We also tried pipikaula which are thinly sliced dry-aged beef short ribs marinated in soy sauce and something else that made it sweet. If you know Korean barbeque, you'll instantly get the sensation that these are close cousins to galbi, though the pipikaula are much less sweet in comparison. The dry aging process also makes them a bit more dryer than galbi. On to more difficult stuff. I was enthusiastic about the fried butterfish collar but once I got a waft of the dish, I knew I was in trouble. I'm very sensitive when it comes to fish so the smell (more than the taste) was off putting. My wife was fine with it and enjoyed the dish, but if you aren't a fan of fishy fish, then I would skip it. The lomi salmon looked very much like pico de gallo with the addition of salt-cured salmon. My boys loved this dish because they love salmon but again I would steer clear if you are a seafood weakling like me. Alas, we come to poi. Had my hopes up since I love taro but the texture and a bit of sourness from fermentation deterred me from trying too much of it. I'm glad we tried it but not sure that we would get it again.

Highway Inn is known for traditional Hawaiian food, but we ended up trying some of the local-style twists. The kalua pig quesadilla was really good, and the tacos were solid too. The surprise for me was the chicken from the kids menu. I ordered it anyway, and honestly, no regrets. It was juicy, flavorful, and better than a lot of regular chicken plates I've had. The Kaka'ako location is clean and modern, service was quick, and it was exactly what we needed after a long event. We would definitely come back to try more. The on-site music artist was good.

Since it was our last meal before leaving Hawaii and there were still a few Hawaiian dishes I hadn't gotten around to trying, this felt like the perfect spot. What I really liked is that they have a sampler plate with a bunch of classic Hawaiian dishes, and the menu actually breaks down what everything is. Clearly this is something people come here for, because it makes trying a little bit of everything way less intimidating. I split the sampler with someone, and overall I was pleasantly surprised. Some of the items didn't look the most appetizing at first glance -- one especially because of the color -- but flavor-wise, everything was actually really good. One of the dishes reminded me of a comforting chicken soup situation, the clear noodles were good, some of the other items were more savory, and it all balanced together well. The lomi salmon was one of my favorites -- kind of like a light, fresh tomato salsa or pico de gallo situation that paired really well with the pork and everything else on the plate. I didn't finish it all because I was already full, but I genuinely liked the variety and thought the flavors were rich and comforting. So if you're curious about Hawaiian food but don't know where to start, this sampler is a great move. Don't let the appearance of some of the dishes scare you off. Service was quick and everyone was nice. At first I kind of wished someone had walked us through the food a little more, but honestly, the menu already does that for you pretty clearly. Overall, I'm glad we came. It was a fun way to try the Hawaiian dishes we hadn't gotten to yet, and I'd come back to try more.

The staff was super nice about it and was able to accommodate us, with only a small request that we be out by 8pm since there was another big party with a reservation coming in. Absolutely reasonable. They sat us right away at three large tables, which gave us plenty of space for food and didn't force us to sit super close together. Menus, waters, plates, napkins, and forks were all brought out immediately, and our waiter was quick to take our order. We started with the prix fixe menu for 8-10 guests and were going to add other items à la carte, but a handful of our group accidentally went to the other Side Street location (make sure your group is all on the same page), so what we ordered ended up being more than enough. We left stuffed and with 5 boxes of food still. Edamame was nice and steamy, and large enough to easily pop the beans out with your mouth. Wish there was a bit more salt though. The farmer's salad had everything going on from citrusy to salty to crispy. Avocado had a little bit of oxidation but the capers, dressing and potato curls provided plenty of reasons to overlook it. The fried rice came in a hefty portion, with sizable pieces of bacon and sausage. The chicken I didn't realize was boneless based on the shape of the deep fry, but it was nice to freely bite into it without worrying about hitting anything with my teeth. Probably a bit too much on fried bits but still good. Pork chops had a better meat to crisp ratio in my opinion, as well as juiciness. They even came with ketchup on the side, which I love as a pairing but don't see much of at restaurants. My favorite meat item was definitely the sizzling boneless kalbi. The presentation on the sizzling plate with a side of kimchi was spectacular, and the meat was full of flavor. We also ordered yakisoba, which wasn't part of the prix fixe. Tasted good but nothing past standard expectations. We let the waiter know we had a 30th birthday at the table, and they brought a couple scoops of vanilla ice cream with a candle, and did a decent job getting the whole room to participate in the singing. It could also be the type of crowd this place attracts, since it seemed that everyone was so friendly and approachable. Thanks to the quick and consistent service, we were out in a little over an hour with no complaints.

Now I've had a lot of these in my life, and I must say, Iyasume are easily the best. See musubi and onigiri have humble origins as a quickly made homespun snack or on the go lunch, and when you spot them in the convenience environment they're often a giant ball of rice with a tinge of protein or seasoning for flavor. At Iyasume, these are culinary adventures, stacked with ingredients, all in handheld form, and the variety they offer is IMPRESSIVE! Of course musubi starts with the classic, SPAM. I had to order the kimchi + spam, shiso + spam, and unagi + tamago + spam, all of which were awesome (even the next day!). Onigiri here are actually layered with ingredients, so you get them in every bite, unlike the convenience store versions! The owner was very friendly and took the time to recommend dishes for us, including the laulau and lechon kawali. We also ordered the BBQ short ribs. Overall, it was a good experience trying Hawaiian food, but it's just not really our type of cuisine. The laulau was quite dry, and the preparation felt more like meat that had been boiled or cooked in liquid, which isn't something I usually enjoy. The lechon kawali had a crispy pork belly texture, topped with something similar to a salsa, but it didn't suit our taste either. Unfortunately, the cabbage served with it also had some black spots, which was off-putting. The BBQ short ribs were the highlight of the meal and the dish we enjoyed the most. We appreciate the experience and the hospitality, but the flavors just didn't quite match our personal preferences.

The food was broke da mouth! During one of my dining visits, I was on my no carb lifesytle and got the Island cobb salad with Kalua Pork ( available in 2 sizes $9./$17.) Lettuce, cucumber, corn, tomato, avocado with Kalua Pig, and sweet onion dressing. Wow, I am glad they have this option for salads. I hope they don't discontinue the Cobb salad as it was so good! During this recent stop I picked up the Pork Belly and Pipikaula plate in short ribs style. This was such a great choice as my family enoyed it . Beer and Pork Belly for pupus and pipikaua ribs for dinner. They have daily specials (beef stew, beef tomato, chicken hekka, sweet sour spare ribs, beef stew, grilled fish, shoyu chicken, garlic shrimp) which sounds good too. You can pick plates in mini or regular, two or three item combo, but few dollars more for crispy pork, smoked meat Pipikaula. Please check out Oahu Grill in the Kaimuki area, opens daily from 11-9 pm.

It was very tasty and the squid luau had a mouth full of squid. The downside is look at the rice . The rice was very hard I guaranteed it was left overs sitting in the rice warmer and they served us the hard rice . Also the service was very slow only 1 worker but we were the only customer in there . I recommend this Hawaiian food place over others but maybe ill stop from know on . It. could be new owners I'm not sure .
