Storefront... Corner of Cooke Street and Halekauwila Street

Lunch from a food truck in Kaka'ako, Honolulu, Hawaii... Donna O. checks in at The Gray Manapua Truck on her Yelp app often. Curious, I stopped by to check it out. Located near the corner of Cooke Street and Halekauwila Street, this food truck was quite easy to find. I called out, "Hello!" and a guy popped up at the window. Service was efficient as he handed over my pork hash (2 for $1), spam Musubi, lumpia, cheese and ham manapua, and chicken. I paid cash and took my bag home. Everything was ok - a little on the sweet side. For example, the bread of the manapua, the pork, and the teriyaki sauce on the spam had a slightly sweet flavor. The chicken surprised me. I was happy that it was boneless! It seemed to have a mochiko layer on the outside while the chicken was moist and soft! Yay! If I was in the area again, I wouldn't mind getting a quick snack from this food truck!

Actually I was very disappointed They have no Bau ( Manapua )..Tried the pork hash and I was very garlicky. Spring rolls was ok . The noodles were to sweet. Stay safe

It's a great place to get your breakfast. He's now on Cooke street near Halekuwila St. on the side of Mary Waldron Park between the hours of 6:30am -11:00am. After that he's at another location for a few more hours. If you don't see his truck he may be sick but usually he's always there on M-F. Only one time he was out for extensive time for a surgery. Customers are construction workers, workers and residents from the near by businesses and apartments. People come from all over since his prices are so reasonable! My co-worker first told me about this Manapua truck. At first you couldn't tell if it was a food truck or a parked truck since he had no sign and look run down. It was parked on Halekuwila St and I saw some people walking away with the food containers and I was thinking there it is!!! food! Now he has a new grey lunch truck but still with no name or sign on the lunch truck. The company's name is on his State of Hawaii Dept of Health green food placard. Most customers get his $2 noodles! It's simple (baked?) noodles with char siu and green onion on top! It's probably his best seller and my co-workers like it too!! Everything is so reasonable like his 3/$1 Pork hash (small) and spring rolls for a $1. I sometimes get the small boneless chicken for a little over a $1, deep-fried burrito, $.75 water and of course manapua, hot dog or ham/cheese bun. If you want something sweet, he has twisted donuts and variety of drinks. Just make sure you bring cash since it's a cash only business but you can get a lot for your buck!

I found another Manapua Man - that also does not sell Manapua LOL The Gray Manapua Truck can be found parked at Mother Waldron's Park Monday - Friday in the morning. Prices are very reasonable and he has a rather extensive variety of hot foods. In fact, I didn't see any candy which is what most Manapua Trucks are filled with. The Pork Hash was more dough wrap than filling but at 3 for $1 can you complain? Support Manapua trucks so they don't go extinct! I'm glad to know I have one of these rarities nearby, still surviving in the ever changing Kakaako.

Growing up during my days on the Westside, there was only one thing on my mind when I was in High School. What was I gonna eat at The Manapua Trucks with what little money I had. Manapua Trucks were here long before the Food Truck Craze and it was like Christmas for me with all the food, drinks, and sweets that were available all in one place. Well after moving to Mililani Mauka, there were no Manapua Trucks for literally miles and that made me very sad because these kind of meals were not only dirt cheap but left a lasting impression as well. Well as luck would have it, I was looking around for a place to eat around the Kakaako area and i was going around in circles and then I came across this huge gray truck which had a long line of people waiting to order and then I knew right there and then that this must be a popular Food Truck. Then after taking one peek into the Food Truck, my eyes lit up like the Friday Night Fireworks at the Hilton. It was a Manapua Truck and all of my favorites that I used to eat growing up were available. From the infamous Fried Noodles to the Pork Hash and Fried Chicken and even Chimichunga's...What? YES Chimichunga's and Donut Twists and so much more. And the Asian Man selling these goodies is so friendly too. Talk about eating on the cheap, I ordered Fried Noodles,Three Pork Hash, Two pieces of Fried Chicken and a Coke for )6.25. Talk about Balling on a Budget. I was one happy camper. But here's the deal. He is only parked there from 7:30 to 11:30 Monday thru Friday if I'm not mistaken and it's not set in stone, but anytime I have a lunch shift where I work, I am always there for my childhood treat on the cheap. So if you are in the Kakaako area, be on the lookout for this truck. It's parked out on the corner of Queen where the square park is where the UFC Gym and Lex Brodie's are located. I am so happy to re live my childhood memories once again....

Fried noodles and pork hash. Yummy

A night in Kaka'ako is always a fun place to explore, and just be entertained!…read more The Honolulu Night Market at Our Kaka'ako is indeed a fabulous adventure into the biggest street/block party filled to the brim with all things local...food, retail and culture. I've been to so many and each and every one is very unique where you can find either fashion runway stage, live street art, or even a dance night in the barn. I just love the vibe SALT and surrounding Our Kaka'ako brings with the vibrant art we're so blessed to have and this particular night (November 19th) there was actually much more shopping just perfect for the holidays and the party went further down to Ya-ya's. Tonight I was fortunate to have gone after work so I kept it short but found some awesome treats. Some straw toppers to add to my holiday gift giving and some cheesecake cups (OG, Strawberry and Cookie Butter) of course I got one of each to share...ate the Strawberry which of course omg was yummy!! Not too sweet as the Strawberries was just perfect as I tried to get an even scoop of it all in every bite. Walked further down and honestly wasn't in the mood to wait too long for anything found something that would just exactly work for me. Ya-Ya's Chophouse & Seafood and tonight they had two items - Steak Kebabs - Fat Fried Rice with TAB (aka Thick Ass Bacon lol!) I seriously wanted the fried rice but thought that the Steak Kebabs was more sensible for me personally and it came with two kebabs each fully loaded with steak, mushrooms, peppers and onions with a huge scoop of rice! So many options I really was considering including Henna from Henna Happens, Birria Tacos from Dolce Vita, Corn from Corn Onoz Hawaii but though there's always a next time yes!?! I remember pre-pandemic Yelp had a booth here and hoping as things return to normalcy that we'll see it back again one day (hint hint!) Absolutely love this Honolulu Night Market as it offers so many cultural coolness that you can't find anywhere else! Thank you!

There was some live music, but it seemed more like a quick stop for tourists rather than a real night market. I didn't try any food because the atmosphere wasn't appealing, so I left quickly.

There are the tiniest baby roaches in the crevices of the picnic table due to the buildup of gunk and I saw them crawling around the table and larger ones on the ground which made me gag. We had the "highly rated" North Shore shrimp three years ago and the way they serve it to you isn't very appetizing. However, this shack, chef's kiss. The presentation and the flavor was all there. My partner's platter was half short rib and half garlic shrimp. (Fries/drinks from a different location.) Service 5/5 The staff are friendly and very hardworking. They were very quick to get me a plastic bag when I asked. 100000% coming back.

This was more chipotle ish with maybe some sort of minced onion than the spicy garlic shrimp I had the past two times. I didn't eat here when it was Angry shrimp because they mixed onion and mushrooms with shrimp or something and I was looking for Garlic shrimp. I have the picture from last weeks garlic shrimp. Last week it tasted like it had fish sauce in it with spices and garlic, etc...tonight it literally tastes like bbq seasoning mixed with chipotle seasoning and chili onion. I'm not writing this review to bash this shrimp truck because I think they are very nice but more so as constructive criticism...to hopefully keep their recipe consistent. People want the flavor of Garlic shrimp without having to go to the north shore. These other seasonings just didn't cut it for me:(

Consider considered me and my friends were very satisfied when we left. The lemonade is the most refreshing drink ever. The pineapple relish on the hotdog was the cherry on top and I'm so glad the owner suggested it. We knew we were only going to get one hotdog just to try it out. When we were ready to put in our order, I placed it in with the male worker. As I was saying my order to the worker, my boyfriend had walked away to the side to wait for me. When I finished putting in my order, the worker had asked me if it would have been just one or two hotdogs. I answered him by saying yes just one. Which he then responded by saying, "what, would he rather have a pho?" Clearly seeing my boyfriend was Asian, that was his question for us just getting one hotdog. He said it as if it was funny. I left it alone and waited for the order. I just don't get the point of him having to say that. He didn't even pronounce "pho" right either, he pronounced it as "foe." As for the hotdog itself, it is good. It is on the pricier side of $11 for one but for the price you get with the bun, polish sausage and toppings, it made it for it. Lower stars because of the overall impression.
