I was familiar with the brand and was looking for an older model civic. Day 1 to just look at it I kept my expectations low. I wasn't disappointed when I walked around it. Victor was straight forward about the car... shared car fax and was willing to let me test drive it even though it was late in the day. The car was excellent for the years and miles. I called back to ask for the out the door price and was pleasantly surprised that he didn't jack up the cost to bleed me. So my experience in buying the car was painless (good deal/ good dealer)... but here is the 'extra' part not expected. In passing conversation I shared that I'm purchasing his civic to replace my old Civic because of engine problems ...he offered to buy my bad civic, and reduce my out of pocket. It saved me a trip to the junkyard. He was very nice, knowledgeable and professional. Go here... he has great (really nice/Sharp) used cars. For the price point... you will not lose. This is a crappy little car lot on Gratiot…read more There have been times where I have needed a cheap vehicle (a beater, if you will) and made the rounds on Gratiot and Groesbeck. They seem to have an abundance of little dealers who sometimes have a decent selection of cars that'll last, say, a year or two, but won't break the bank. This is not Holmes. I speak to at least breaking the bank. I've never purchased a car from Holmes because I've never felt like I was getting a deal. The last time I was there, they had literally 10 cars in the lot for sale, all with roughly 100K miles on them and $5000+ price tags. I don't really care how new the car is; after 100K miles, any car on the planet is gonna start to have problems in the near future. Granted, I was expecting this (hence the search for a beater), but I'd rather do it for less than $5000. For example: the last car I bought had over 100K miles, and lasted 3 years before it broke down to the point of no return. Price tag? $500! That's a big difference from what Holmes is selling. I'd suggest going elsewhere for a vehicle. There's some places on Grosbeck between 10 mile and 13 mile that have low miles and low price tags. Give one of those lots a shot.

If you're looking for a beater go buy one from a shady man off the street with an orange title. That may be 500. If you're looking for a good used car go to a lot like Holmes. Most people still think that they can get under 100,000 miles for under 5000, granted there are some extremely rare circumstances where this is true but chances are it won't happen. Do research see what prices are before you go out looking with unrealistic expectations.

My third update for Certified Motors, because I keep coming back and just can't say enough good…read morethings about them. I recently purchased my second car here, after the first met it's demise in an accident (RIP to my Malibu...we had some fun together.). Looking for a new car out of necessity and not choice can be a stressful experience. But coming here made it smooth as possible. I hadn't stepped foot on the lot in 5 years but the moment I returned they recognized me not only by name but remembering what kind of car I bought from them previously. Impressive! :) The lot isn't huge, but the inventory is always rotating. I was able to find a few good options that fit what I was looking for. Ray and Eric gave me open and honest assessments of each vehicle and, despite what other reviews have said, the Car Fax report was readily available to see for each of them. I test drove a couple options, and finally settled on an Impala that was in great shape with low mileage. The car looked great but I mentioned aloud how I wished it had a spoiler to look a little more sporty. The guys took note of my comment and immediately offered to work with me to get a spoiler ordered and put on, so I could have just the car I wanted. Fast and easy! After that they were able to take care of all the paperwork and title transfer, all I had to do was come back and pick up the car. One of the best things offers an excellent warranty on all of their vehicles that covers all major (and a lot of minor) issues. It came to good use with my old car, when the transmission needed replacing and I didn't have to come out of pocket so much as a penny for it! The warranty is not something you often find with a used vehicle, and it's definitely nice to have that extra peace of mind. Thanks Certified Motors for turning an initially stressful situation into a smooth one. I always know I'm in good hands here.

I thought they would be there, because they made it sound like they were reliable. But it was more like sorry out of luck. I would sue, but how do people like me sue. Honestly, I would prefer public transportation over coming to Certified Junk Motors. Do NOT waste your money. They are soooo nice too, it is all a big lie. Do not help them make money off of you. Spread the word. Certified motors is certified to screw you out of your money.
