I've been to a Samuel Mancino's location before (albeit not this one) because a Michigan friend raved about it. I found it good but not worth going out of the way for. I was traveling and needed lunch and passed this location and thought I'd give the chain another try. I'm glad I did. Again, they have fresh subs (among other things) made with fresh ingredients and there are a lot of choices. This time I tried the Smothered Steak and the Toscana. The Smothered Steak had A1 infused mayo which intrigued me. It was greasy but very good. Slightly similar to a cheesesteak. The Toscana was good as well but just like my last visit, the idea of pizza sausage on a sub threw me off. Filthy place, sick employee in back with a mask on, nasty-tempered cook in back. A simple question with a smile and got an attitude for my trouble. It's okay food, but not a pleasant experience. And yet, the place is filthy. I am not sure the last time the floor was swept or mopped. Fountain lemonade was watery (and I didn't say a thing about it...stuff happens). I havent been here in a bit but the consistency remains the same and for a local grinder I always find it to be solid! The bread is fantastic and the quality of the meats and cheese is great, along with a good portion of veggies too. If youorder in you get a small bag of chips and a pickle spear but to go you lose out of those. Keep doing your thing Mancinos! read more

We always love when we're near Mattawan! We always stop at Mancino's if it's time to eat! Their subs and pizzas are well made with lots of toppings! Entrance way is a little narrow but I am able to get my rollator through. The majority of the seating is table and chairs. I can't remember if they have some booths or not--that's why I said most but it may be all. They have fountain pop as well as bottles of pop and 1 liter bottles as well. read more

I've gotten Mancinos in Kalamazoo for years- just moved near Mattawan and tried this one. Delivered and it was a mess.... Hardly ANY lettuce (did they sprinkle it on?) , where is the tomato? It was wrapped in tin foil instead of the "box" it usually comes in to keep it together and nice. It was smushed, thrown together and I was so disappointed. Stopped in yesterday to get a grinder. Anytime I'm in the area. I make it a point to come back and get a sandwich. I grew up in Michigan and I've always loved Mancino's. After my meal, it was pouring down rain.... It rang for about 20 minutes straight, and I was not parked near the building. The employees were kind enough to give me a pizza box and some bags so I could run to my car and not ruin my shoes and stay dry. Just wanted to give a shout out to this group of individuals. A friend of mine took me up here. The first thing we noticed - it is carry-out only - multiple tables inside, but you can't sit inside. So we had to order and eat in our car--no picnic tables or anywhere to eat outside. We both ordered the same thing. French Dip sandwich - added fries and a drink. The bread was decent and the sandwich had a good flavor. Not a ton of meat. It comes with au jus and that was good, but not outstanding. The fries were crispy but had absolutely no flavor. Maybe it could have used some salt. For the drink - you can choose a fountain or bottle. I chose a Sprite Lymondade, which I'd never seen before. All in all - total for two of us - exact same items was $35.32 with tax and tip. Sadly the food quality has plummeted in recent years. My wife's salad was sad and the bacon on her "club" was basically baco bits. My steak sandwich was low quality and even though I paid for extra cheese I could barely tell that there was cheese on it. Unfortunately, I will not be returning. read more

Definitely will order again , ordered two large pizzas and it was delicious, enough toppings that they were falling off on the plate definitely got my moneys worth. The only thing that peeved me was that I ordered a party cut pizza, I looked under the pizza hood and the pizza was not party cut I inquired about it and the guy just kinda shrugged his shoulders and walked off. Pre-COVID this was one of our favorite for sandwiches and or pizza. Since COVID this has been take out only. As of May 15,2022 it is still take out only. We have had a number of orders for takeout now that have not come close in quality to pre-COVID experiences. Specifically sandwiches have been skimpy with meats and at times missing some components...calzones and pizzas have been lacking in the same ways. Usually I would ignore a bad experience or two keeping in mind staffing and other challenges during COVID. Unfortunately a number of sub par takeouts cause me to abandon this restaurant. read more

My co workers and i just ordered food from here and our boss paid with his card over the phone. After going to get the order an employee of ours was told it was unpaid. She asked how it was unpaid if he gave them his card over the phone. After paying for my order the employee tosses the food at her and tells her word for word "just take it and get the fuck out of here" This has to be the WORST experience i have ever had at a restaurant. My boss proceeded to call them and instantly he was given an attitude to the point my boss got loud. Ans he doesnt do that over nothing. We live relatively close so we go here often out of convenience and we've never had a bad experience. We've had pizza of course and we really like there crust and sauce. Almost the perfect mix between thin crust and pan and not at all greasy. A family favorite is the Sammy bread, basically a cheese bread, but a well done version. Again, just enough cheese without the extra grease. We've also had quite a few different subs, again, all good! Food is always ready quickly and we've never had a mistake in an order. Only downside is they rarely have coupons, but there are sometimes species to be had, so always ask when ordering. read more

Take out pizza place. My salad consisted of shredded lettuce, shredded cheese, unripe diced tomatoes and giant chunks of onion. Not good. The baked chicken Alfredo was mediocre. Not the best I ever had, not the worst. The bread stick which were supposed to come with the pasta didn't arrive til after I had finished my pasta and we're devoid of flavor. read more

The service is very fast and you'll see the same people there most of the time. I go here often for lunch and the variety has never let me down. The taste is exquisite and extremely flavorful as you can see the kitchen right behind the counter. Mancino's in Matawan I go to pick up a pepperoni pizza at the pick up time and they haven't even put it in the oven. I sat there for 15 minutes asked and they still hadn't put the pizza in the oven nor did they care. I do not recommend Mancino's in Mattawan to anyone. It was just a silly 12" pepperoni pizza. Wow. Everything on the menu is really quite good - you can hardly go wrong with any of their selections. Perhaps the very best items they serve, however, are their "grinders" (Sub Sandwiches !!) These are made to order, and in addition to a wide variety, they are as tasty as they are BIg !! Don't hesitate to ask them to "double up" on the meat or cheese. This will yield a monster sandwich big enough for even the largest appetites !! Would have been a 5-star rating except for the occasional inconsistency in the pizzas. I've had nothing but bad service over the last 6 months. I'm allergic to eggs and every time I specifically ask for NO MAYO. 3 bites of my sandwich sent me to the emergency room. I tried to call and call before they closed to at least touch base with someone. I called so many times they picked up the phone, hung up on me, and proceeded to leave the phone off the hook for the rest of the time they were supposed to be open. It was 8:35 when I picked up my food. Sign was off, all chairs were on tables and the door was propped open because they had locked it already. When I asked for a correct sandwich the following day I got a credit and only wanted half for my lunch. That sandwich was perfect. Called a few days later for my other half, asked specifically if they could put the lettuce on after cooking it. Nope, over cooked nasty soggy lettuce and missing half of the other items I had asked for. I want the old caring Mancino's back. read more
