Mandarin King does a great job of handling large parties. They have huge round tables that can seat 14, and they time the dishes well. Service is great, and they were even accommodating to my no gluten diet - this is unheard of for a Chinese restaurant, I think! The restaurant was also accommodating to cook up a fish that one of the people in our party had caught themselves. I thought that was really cool of them. We found all the dishes to be very tasty overall - especially the West Lake Soup, egg rolls, and pork ribs. Would definitely recommend if you have a large party. read more

My family has been coming to this place for decades. Best Mandarin and Schezwan style Chinese food. We love everything we've had here so far, especially the mapo tofu with less oil with extra green onions and with chicken instead of pork - so umami and flavorful!!, imperial shrimp, noodles with shrimp, king pao, steamed fish, tangerine chicken, tangerine shrimp, schezwan chicken, jalapeño chicken, Mongolian beef, walnut shrimp. Their food really balances umami, sweet, and sour excellently. They have lunch specials daily even on weekends and the prices are great, portions large. You can choose fried rice or steamed rice with their lunch specials, and can order some dishes not on the lunch special menu as a lunch special. Their egg rolls, egg drop soup, sizzling rice, and hot and hour soups are also delicious. The service is always efficient and friendly and since we've been dining here for years, the owners treat us like family. The pork soft noodles and tangerine chicken are my absolute favorites! The noodles are alway soft and the seasoning is just right. If you like chow mein, then you'll love their soft noodles. The only thing that I've ever thought was strange about this restaurant is that there's literally no windows. Mandarin King used to be so good. I have been a Patron for many years and definitely did my share of supporting them during the pandemic but my experience the last couple of times have been horrible for delivery. Tonight I placed an order at 5:36 with an estimated delivery at 6:21. At 6:45 I called to check on the order and my call was treated with a canned response of "we are busy and it's almost ready". I asked how she knew which order it was and she said she assumed it was who just called. When we straightened that out she said "oh, I didn't notice it was for delivery". So I asked if that means my food has been ready and sitting there getting cold. At that point, I would have come and picked it up. The line went silent and all of a sudden a man got on the line and started yelling at me that they are busy and my order wasn't ready. At this point it was 6:55. He told me the food was leaving in 3 minutes. My delivery finally arrived at 7:20 (an hour late and almost 2 hours after ordering). How was the food-some of it was cold, some was fresh, order was wrong. Would I order from here again...maybe. read more

Jerry was still the pleasant guy (and verbose) served us. We let him arrange the dishes and he did not disappoint us. Here were his recommended dishes: 1. Lobster & Noodle 龍蝦麵 (noodle is a-must to celebrate birthday; "long" noodle means "long life"); 2. DongPo Pork 東坡肉; could be Cooked more rotten; 3. STEAMED WHOLE FISH 蒸全魚 (fresh and tasty); 4. We love this place so much we held our baby shower here! The banquet room holds about 90 guests. They allow you to bring your own decorations and linens. They work with EVERY budget. I was there for a weekday lunch. Ample parking! :-) The restaurant is no-frills. The menu is well-worn cardboard/paper; the napkins are paper too. My waiter/host was not friendly, and in my experience this is often the case in Chinese restaurants. He seemed overworked due to understaffing. He didn't ask how my dining experience was. On the other hand, he was very efficient and quick, considering. There was a man who I presume is the owner, who was chatting in a very friendly manner with a group of diners that were regulars. He was very engaging. Mid-September 2022 the lunch-special prices ranged from $10 to $13. There were perhaps 15 lunch options. Most options included the choice of hot and sour or egg drop soup, one eggroll, and fried/crispy noodles served with a delicious plum sauce. Complimentary hot tea. I ordered chicken chop suey, which I think is among the healthier choices. Steamed or fried rice were free, but brown rice was a steep $3.50. A tax on diabetics, in essence. The dish was very delicious, including bok choy (Chinese cabbage), water chestnuts, broccoli, carrots, snap peas and mushrooms, presumably champignon. The chicken was nice and soft, the thickish sauce soothing but not too plentiful. The portion size was quite generous. Finished off with a fortune cookie. Overall, a satisfying experience. read more

Honestly not too shabby. I had to buy a last minute meal and this popped out on my yelp recommendations of near by restaurants. I order 2 orders of dumplings, curry chicken, and mandarin rice. I was not disappointed in the price and flavor. Everyone at home enjoyed the dumplings which the waitress said to mix the chili sauce and dumpling which honestly made an amazingly dipping heaven sauce. Parking is easily found. I have seen this place since I was a kid. My school used to be across the way and every time I would see it I wouldn't think anything about it. Same paint same walls in all these decades. Hell my private school left and was replaced with a high school and Mandarin King is still there. Why? Because they kill it in the Chinese food game. Their beef with broccoli is unmatched. Flavorful and plenty of fresh and snappy not mushy overcooked broccoli. Let's not forget that most places have tons of broccoli and no meat. Not MK. Beef as high as an elephant's eye. So many delicious morsels of bovine bliss that you wouldn't believe. The tangerine chicken is also pretty tasty and plentiful. Not soaked in sauce but there is enough in the dish to be dripped all over the many other pieces of white meat chicken. Vegetable egg rolls with actual vegetables and not that orange paste found in others. The chow mein is standard but delicious with plenty of meat. I chose chicken. They even give out those delicious almond cookies that you used to get from good Chinese restaurants from back in the day. The staff has been great and really accommodating. I have been dining at the Mandarin King since I was young. Everyone loves "The Green Restaurant" this is what Aguie calls it. This place is craved by my family. Regardless of how many people we are we always order a meal for a battalion, left overs are always the best. The wonton soup is the best I have tasted so far. You can taste the broth, most places have this tasting watered down. Not good. We always order the Wor Wonton Soup. The shrimp with lobster sauce is excellent. Its shrimp with lobster sauce, peas and that white stuff that looks like potato, anyone know the name of that? The Orange Chicken is also a favorite, it is breaded chicken with the Orange Sauce poured over it. It is good but very hot when it first comes out. The Mandarin fried rice- need I say more. The Chicken Lo Mein is also delicious. The sweet and sour shrimp or chicken is not soggy and very tasty. Pretty much everything here is really good. It's always a favorite for us. read more

Finally..I wanted to order take out, I ordered the kung pao chicken, chicken fried rice, hot and sour soup, a shrimp dish and a SMALL order of hot and sour soup. I later found out when I got home she charged me for the large order of hot and sour soup. Anyways I waited for my food to come out, the lady was so busy taking orders and when I asked her how long it would be she said just another 5-10 minutes. I'm waiting and I see an order sitting on the counter I figured that was mine checked the check and it was, I tried to get the ladys attention but she was too busy so I just grabbed my food and walked out. I mean seriously people get this lady some help! Got home and honestly the food was disgusting. The chicken fried rice lacked flavor, the shrimp dish was okay my husband didn't care too much for it and the kung pao chicken was awful. Panda Express makes better kung pao chicken than them. Overall I didn't like the food and I didn't even care for the crispy noodles they give you..gross. Definitely two thumbs down in my book and I definitely won't be coming back again EVER!!! Some of the dishes that were memorable were the Crispy Calamari and an eel dish w/ some sort of sticky rice. The crab we ordered was good, but didn't seem to have the best texture. Although I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, the service was pretty disappointing. It took us a long time just to get our waters, and we waited a long time for each dish to come out. It did look like the restaurant was busy that night, but we pre-ordered our food before we even got there. Overall, the food was pretty good and the prices seemed decent. I ordered their Mongolian Beef because the pictures looked so good but it was not edible. The quality of the meat was terrible. I couldn't eat it so gave it to my friend/neighbor who happened to stop by and who is not a picky eater but he couldn't even eat it either so it went in the trash! I was scared to even feed it to my dog after my friend who is not picky said it tasted "off". What a complete waste of $15. Thank God I discovered "Chi's Chinese Restaurant" and no I don't work for them or have any affiliation. To be fair, I have noticed that since the Covid hit, many restaurants have gone downhill especially when it comes to take out/delivery and I have never tried this place prior to Covid. read more

The service here was bad and the food is comparable to fast food Chinese. The experience: Upon entering the entryway, we were unnerved at how quiet the place was. We arrived just before 6:30pm and the place was practically empty, on a Tuesday. Waiters, staff and owners are very nice. We took a group of 7 and 1 toddler. Of course toddlers can get messy, but we did our best to maintain her area before the waiters cleaned it up, but the waiters were all around wonderful, understanding and helpful. We ordered more than 7 plates & I can't remember them all, but one dish was called the Polynesian chicken. So good! I believe we had these other dishes: -green beans -pork chop -pork noodle Etc. Lunch specials are a great deal! Love that you can order the specials online during this quarantine time. So many choices to choose from as well.
